  1. Yeeeaaahhhh I'm calling B.S. If I were a betting man, I'd put money on saying Tony put that there just to make us freak. I don't think a real construction stake would just blatantly have a manufacturer marker on it. Though the spray painted markers on the footers look legit though...
  2. Scorcher is the only stand up coaster that I've done that I actually enjoy. It actually rides smooth unlike all the others I've done, so I'd be fine if Six Flags decides to keep the stand up trains, but I'd also be ok with floorless trains since they worked so well on Mantigarou. I'm just not sure if Six Flags is willing to spend that kind of money on renovating an older steel coaster, but then again if they are spending money on RMC conversions then a floorless conversion could be possible I suppose.
  3. Because it doesn't fit the theming and it destroyed the lagoon. Exactly! It's not so much that it looks bad now, but that it wrecked something that looked much better. Wouldn't be surprised if Ouimet decides to relocate Bullet elsewhere in the chain if that's the case. I did think it made the park feel a little front loaded when I visited a few years back.
  4. It was me. On opening day none of the Voyage rides I did were slowed down at all. It was a fairly cold day so I guess the trains were running a bit slower. Either that or maintenance had yet to re-program the midcourse. When I was there last Thursday, I did notice the new brake pattern on the midcourse and was surprised that they braked you as the front of the train was hanging on the triple down. Still not a complete stop, but definitely braked. Anyways, I just didn't think about posting about it while I was there.
  5. Looks so amazing!!! I think my favorite part of that video is the cheering of the train at the end. You know you have a winner when every person on the train is losing their minds over how good it is. Can't wait to ride soon!
  6. I've done both, and while Dorney's can get you more wet thanks to the waterfalls, Kings Island's is the better ride. It's faster, longer, and has some rather large rapids that are very unpredictable. The whole thing is deep in the woods so you don't see what's coming next most of the time, and there's an area at the end where guests watching can enable geysers and get riders soaked. It's probably my favorite rapids ride.
  7. I think it's that if you purchase a ticket/enter the park after like 3 or 4 pm you get the next day free or something like that. Not sure if that's right, but I know Dollywood still has this deal.
  8. While riding the train during Coasterstock this weekend, I noticed at one point that there were a few stakes layed out pretty close together in a line. If those are for footers, that could mean a wood coaster. Could being the keyword here. Could still be anything.
  9. Just rode Legend 2.0 myself. Loved it! The new track with that new Ipe wood rides so smooth it almost feels like topper track! The new double down is pretty good although not taken super fast, and the redesigned four corners are much less jarring. A very good improvement in my book.
  10. The new name for Ninja is... Blue Hawk. Cue the Cedar Fair jokes...
  11. ^Except Revolution wasn't considered bad until the OTSR's were installed. The ride was a good ride before, now it's good again. Ninja was never considered good from the beginning. Personally I don't find the layout all that bad, it's the track shaping that makes it bad. The way I like to describe it is it rides like a non-inverted SLC. Short but intense layout, badly-made track, and lots of headbanging/neck-chopping. The name Ninja was always very fitting.
  12. I believe they said "in-seat" audio, like Rock'n'Roller Coaster where the speakers are underneath the seat. I'm super pumped for this project now! Everything looks amazing!
  13. Aside from Valravn looking awesome, I can't get over just how good Raptor looks now. I was watching some older videos of Raptor and the difference is night and day. From flaky, faded, and pooped on, to bright and shiny like it's 1994! Love the photos man! Keep it up!
  14. It would make sense that the amount of braking force required to bring that train from 45/50 mph a dead stop would cause the train to buckle in the middle. Those have to be some STRONG brakes. Still not as bad as that one boomerang incident in Mexico where its last car coupler sheer off when its train stopped midcourse sending that one car around the course and into the station.
  15. It's really not haha! I drive to Holiday World, Kings Island, Six Flags Over Georgia, and Dollywood all the time because they're all within 5 hours from me! It's awesome!
  16. I live roughly 2.75 hours away being in Nashville, and I call Holiday World my local park since it's the closest major park to me. I don't count Beech Bend. They may have Rumbler, but they don't have much else LOL... I'll be back on the 12th to check out Legend.
  17. If that's true than I'm ecstatic because I'll be back on the 9th!
  18. A little late, but my Dollywood trip report is up on my blog. You can check it out here. DOLLYWOOD VIDEO: April 2016 Trip Report / Park Review
  19. ^^I noticed that the brake run looked to have been extended so the trains have more room to stop safely, which is probably part of the reason the last turn is now flat. They would hit the brakes so hard that a train coupler would occasionally buckle. Obviously not an ideally safe situation for the ride. I'm a big Legend fan myself. The first drop is my favorite out of the 3 woodies, and the airtime on the hill after the spiral drop is some of the best in the park. It's an awesome ride for sure, but yes those sharp-cornered turns had to be a major maintenance nightmare, so I welcome these changes to the layout. BTW I didn't mention this before, but the bottom of the first drop has a short flat section in it now, so it's no longer one continuous curve. Also the banking is a little steeper so there will be less laterals there. I never got a picture of it because it was hard to get a good shot with my phone's digital zoom. You can see it on the webcam though. Also, my Voyage rides were, believe it or not, even better than last year. It was seriously running great, but as it's been said, that's expected early in the season.
  20. Ok I wasn't sure where to post this, but I've been watching Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt on Netflix, and they have a whole bit done at Universal Orlando at the end of season 2, and the theme park/coaster nerd jokes are hysterical. Seriously recommend checking it out for those who haven't watched the show. It's awesome!
  21. Hey my post is on the front page! Thanks TPR! I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if Holiday World carries out similar rehabs for Raven and Voyage if they're please with Legend's results. Rumor has it that Voyage MIGHT be next for 2017, but (obviously) take that with a grain of salt as that's just what I've seen be speculated around the interwebs.
  22. Did you see how FAST it flew through the final dip in the quad down???
  23. It sure is fun to see a park near and dear to me (see my screen name) through fresh eyes! Loving the report so far!
  24. A little chilly here today, but still having a good time. Waited about 30 mins to get my season pass, and the line was pretty slow since the processing center is so small (only 3 stations). Voyage is no longer coming to a complete stop on the MCBR, and it's hauling today! Raven has some jackhammering here and there, but it's still running pretty well. Thunderbird is, as you would expect, still great. Took some pictures of Legend progress. The bottom of the first drop doesn't look too different, but the last third does have some very noticeable changes. The new tunnel is pretty short, but supposedly it'll have some theming in it. Yep. This turn into the brakes is totally flat now. Guys putting down the top layers.
  25. I love how the lake horizon and the sky are blending together in that webcam view. Makes the park look like it's in another world. -JC, pointing out the beautiful things in life...
