Thank goodness. On my one back row ride last year I tweaked my neck so bad it made the rest of the ride very unenjoyable for me. Made me want to sit toward the front for the rest of my rides. Can't wait to go back this year! -

Those that have ridden LR today, is the first drop pothole still bad? I heard it was fixed last year. -

Hey just proves that it's not the camera that makes great pictures. It's the person behind it. Also proves how well the T2i holds up today for a camera that was released 7 years ago! -
The "perfect" roller coaster
SFOGdude25 replied to LiftThrill's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Two ideas I have. 1. Take Voyage, put topper track on the entire thing without changing any of the layout, put RMC trains with steel wheels on it so it flys through the course Outlaw Run style. I already think Voyage has the perfect layout. It just needs to be smooth all the way through. 2. Take i305 and extend the layout. Out of the first drop, take a turn to the right and straighten out going behind, and running parallel to, Rebel Yell. Ride over a low speed hill, then an overbanked turn to the left that takes you back in the direction you came, take another speed hill, then a giant camelback. Dropping out of it, you curve left, go into another speed hill that then lines you up for the rest of the ride (picking up at the first high-speed low curve to the left). This would add variety to the ride, with a first half that focuses on airtime, and a second half that focuses on high speed turns. Kind of like Superman at SFNE but in giga form. Oh yeah and plant trees around the ride so it's not just in a grass field and the feeling of speed will be amplified. -

Very nice pics! Gotta ask, if you're willing to share, what do you shoot with? Love the depth-of-field on a lot of those shots! -

Does anyone remember if CoasterStock participants receive the season long souvenir cup or the daily one? Thanks! It was the daily one. I used mine just once on check-in day and never used it again. I hate carrying those cups around parks, because I never have a bag. Saves me l*cker money. -

As far as the GP's opinion of Lightning Rod, I observed it varies greatly. I recall on my visit in August a few people that were not fans of the ride. People specifically toward the back of the train complained about it being headache inducing and painful on the legs. The leg pain I can understand as very few coasters have that kind of ridiculous airtime, and the headaches could either come from those couple of hard track bumps or even just the strong forces of the ride overall (that happened to me after several rides in a row and I had to stop for a bit). One kid in particular that sat behind me on one of my rides was silent the whole ride, and upon hitting the brakes said "That was too fast..." in a very matter-of-fact way. I couldn't help but laugh to myself at his response. Later in the day I rode with a guy that upon hitting the brakes loudly exclaimed "The BEST roller coaster I've ever ridden!!!" -

On my visits last year and the year before, I was given a parking pass to put in my dash for the duration of my stay. I didn't really need it since I had a platinum pass, but it was still nice of them to provide that. I know it's a fairly recent addition to the benefits of staying there. -

So I tried Magnum this past season in seat 1-3 for the first time, and it just about killed my back. Hated it. 6-2 is my preferred seat. Airtime is still plenty strong enough and MUCH smoother. Still far from being my favorite coaster at Cedar Point, but it goes from excruciating to pretty darn fun depending on where you sit (I.E. avoid the first and last rows of any car at all costs lol). I think I may be the only person here that actually prefers the front half of Magnum to the back half. To me that second drop, despite not having much airtime at all, does such a good job of building a great sense of speed and power dropping into the tunnel that leads to the long and low floater hill (my favorite hill on the ride), and I don't find the transitions all that painful in that spot. However, by the time you reach the home stretch, I almost feel like the ride has lost too much of its power. Yeah there's ejector air aplenty, but the ride strangely no longer feels fast. I blame the trim brake for this, which is absolutely necessary for the bunny hills to not kill you lol. Personally I feel the ride would be better if the final hills were re-profiled to have ever-so-slightly wider radiuses so the brake could be taken off, the airtime would be the same as before, but the ride would feel faster and more powerful all the way to the end. As I said before, I still really like the ride, but for me Millennium Force and Maverick are my top coasters at CP equally. The text above is just my nitpicking coaster layout analyst coming out. For the most part I tend to block out that part of my head when I ride and just have fun. -

Not to turn down that name, but it makes me think of this... I think it would be cool to theme the ride to a sheriff character that looks to take down Maverick (an outlaw) and protect Frontier Town, creating the ultimate roller coaster showdown, western style (Intamin vs RMC ). The only thing I can't think of is an actual ride name that would work with that kind of marketing. -

I'm putting my expectations at Adventure Express level. It'll be a normal GCI with something extra at the end. Also I'm gonna leave this here. I would take a look at some of the other pictures on this guy's twitter page, too. Got a couple of cool facade renderings in there. -

Honestly I was never a huge fan of what Cotton States became ever since Superman opened. It started to look kinda ugly after a while, so I'm looking forward to the changes. I'm just happy Superman is finally being repainted. It was looking pretty faded, and I REALLY hope they start using both sides of the station should they attempt 3-train operation.

I absolutely love having a plethora of great coasters at CP. It helps me not get bored with the park too quickly if at all. When I go to parks I like to just hit rides as I walk by them, which means at CP I'm riding something new for the day way more than I otherwise would at a smaller park. Not only that, but nearly all of CP's coasters are ones I like to re-ride (the one exception being Corkscrew), meaning I can spend an entire day riding all those great coasters as much as I'm willing to stomach. It's heaven on earth for me. -
