  1. "60+ miles" as in 60+ mph?? The rides top speed is already 59 mph, so a redesign of the first drop could allow for a higher top speed. EDIT: Never mind. Holiday World says it's top speed is 65 mph according to their website. I was going by RCDB originally. I don't know LOL.
  2. Oh my gosh how could I forget!? I totally forgot about Space Mountain when making my first post! This music is just so beautiful to me. It puts me right back in Tomorrowland every single time. Easily the best ride music ever made. It's just so "Disney" too if you know what I mean.
  3. Stakes in the ground huh? Very interesting... This project is turning out to be more extensive than I thought! I'm excited!
  4. Another piece of the drop is going up. I got a kick out of watching the crew basket and the track piece go up at the same time lol. This is probably the last piece for the day.
  5. ^Methinks there are 3 more photos to be revealed before the puzzle is really complete.
  6. I can only imagine how crazy Legend backwards would be. I almost shudder at the thought to be honest, but then again if they're doing a bunch of trackwork maybe I wouldn't need to worry. Wouldn't Holiday World need to put headrests on the Legend trains though in order to make them go backwards? Also, in my excitement of the Facebook comment discovery, I might have misread the comment, and what's coming tomorrow actually might just be a CLUE as opposed to the real announcement. We'll see.
  7. If you check the projects page on PTC's website, you'll see that Voyage has its current cars at the shop for refurb, so it's unlikely we'll see any layout changes to it (or a new set of PTCI-360s. I'm still convinced they would be great for Voyage). I've been checking the webcams pretty often, and I haven't seen a single bit of work done on Legend since the track on the first drop was ripped out. Whatever is being done doesn't seem to be quite as extensive as the teaser might have implied, but then again there's still 4 months until the season starts so I could be wrong. Still curious as to what that "new element" is. Also, Paula hinted in a Facebook comment that we could be seeing what's new for 2016 tomorrow, so keep an eye out.
  8. Here's a bunch of sunset pics from a Cedar Point trip from May 2015. Cedar Point offers some of the BEST sunset lighting of any park I've been to. The Maverick pictures in particular turned out awesome. This one's my favorite.
  9. I'd love an underground tunnel, too, but if the construction crew digs just a few feet into the ground, they'll hit water. That's one of the drawbacks of Cedar Point's location on the lake, and the reason no coaster in the park has an underground tunnel. It's not a huge deal in my opinion. Valravn still looks like it'll be awesome.
  10. 1. Maverick 1. Millennium Force (Both fantastic steel machines for different reasons, so putting one above the other is impossible for me.) 3. Top Thrill Dragster 4. Raptor 5. Rougarou 6. Blue Streak 7. Wicked Twister 8. Gatekeeper 9. Gemini 10. Magnum XL-200 11. Iron Dragon 12. Cedar Creek Mine Ride 13. Corkscrew 14. Mean Streak Woodstock Express and Wilderness Run don't count because kiddie coasters. Valravn will probably sneak in somewhere in the 7 or 8 spot for me when finished.
  11. You win. Sad part is, though, the comments on Facebook about the story are really not that far off, and they're serious...
  12. This might be the most excited I've ever seen TPR get over a crane... And I love it.
  13. Once again, RMC have me like . Looks so wrong, but in all the right ways. That banking at the bottom of the drop especially looks really funky!
  14. They've been doing the same type of refurb on The Voyage in certain spots for the last few years. This is true, and most of those spots have been doing well, but I REALLY hope they focus on the return run this year. That area needs some help. It's just exciting because I can't remember Legend ever getting that level of refurb before!
  15. Just checked the webcam. Holy cow we do have a major re-track on our hands! Like all the way down to the ledgers GhostRider style! Can't wait to see what all they do!
  16. In terms of sheer excitement and "pump you up" factor, it's hard to beat this classic music. Although my favorite ride music ever is Wicked Twister's station music. It's a super-sick DJ song by The Crystal Method called "The Winner" Here's the full song.
  17. Sorry Cedar Point fans, but I'm just not a huge fan of Magnum. I like it, but I don't love it. Much like several other Arrow coasters, its design is just too clunky and awkward for me to fully enjoy it. For a hyper coaster, it seems to lose its sense of "big scale coaster" too quickly, and the airtime, while there's plenty of it, is too violent and painful on my thighs thanks to the awful lapbars and sharp track transitions, and that pretzel turnaround knocks me around in some really weird ways that always seem to remove me from the experience. As far as I'm concerned, it's a 205 ft tall mine train with some painful airtime. Now before you go defending the ride on me, yes I have tried the seatbelt trick, and I've ridden in the second row of the last car, and yes, those tricks DO help. You do get the "best" experience doing those things, but nonetheless, I still don't *love* the ride. I always give it at least 1 or 2 courtesy rides a visit, but there are MUCH better coasters in the park I'd rather be riding. *I prefer all the Intamins, B&Ms, Blue Streak, and even Gemini over Magnum. Just saying.*
  18. Mine was either Georgia Scorcher or Batman at SFOG some time in 2001. I think I rode both for the first time on the same visit, just can't remember which one I rode first.
  19. For whatever reason, I love doing antique car rides! They're true family rides that anyone can ride, make driving fun again, and provide a nice relaxing change of pace from riding thrill rides. Also any and all log flumes. I LOVE log flumes!
  20. If PTC made pilot cars for their new 360 trains like these, they would be far and away my favorite coaster trains ever. Also these trains are beautiful. Yay Schwartzkopf!
  21. Found a picture of the aftermath from this post. Still one of the best rides I've ever had on Beast. I think it took like 3 or 4 hours for my clothes to dry...
  22. That's Arrow for you (or rather, Ron Toomer's engineering). Using the same size loops and corkscrews for all their coasters, and no concern for smooth transitions. Yeah it's a pretty poor ride by today's standards, but it's got one good thing going for it (that first drop has some of the best airtime in the park). I would not be surprised if Kings Island took it out in the next 5 to 10 years. I wouldn't be opposed to it.
  23. I haven't ever puked because of a ride yet thankfully, but I've come close on a few rides. I've got a stomach of steel when it comes to roller coasters, but spinning flats definitely push it. The worst offender was Holiday World's Turkey Twirl (tilt-a-whirl), and others are MaXair at Cedar Point and Delirium at Kings Island, but to a lesser extent. The only roller coaster that makes me queasy (but only slightly) is Invertigo at Kings Island. Going through 3 loops backwards is what does it.
  24. Ok, my turn for an idea. Since observing intense traditional wood coasters like Voyage and Ghostrider, I've been thinking about an alternative long-term wood track solution to RMC's topper track. One that could be easily installed on any traditional wood coaster, and could drastically reduce maintenance needs in a similar fashion. Instead of replacing the top two layers of wood track, what if you replaced the BOTTOM two layers with a solid beam of steel. We've seen similar track work done on rides like American Eagle and the old Colossus where they had I-beams in place of the bottom layers of wood, but this would use a rectangular 4x12 steel beam as the base layer on top of the super-structure. This could potentially keep a wood coaster running smoothly for years and it still have the traditional look and feel since you're still riding on a traditional wood stack. It would be really cool to see Gravity Group or GCI implement this idea to compete with RMC's topper track.
  25. Why pick one when you can enjoy them all!
