Maybe galindoverhere was sitting on the GP's lap? I heard the GP loves coaster enthusiasts. -
Weirdest Things The 'GP' Have Said

WHOA people can sit under you on X2!!!! That doesn't sound very safe. I meant he sat in the seat below me! Never mind you know what I mean! Sorry to bring this from a few pages ago, but are you still trying to tell us that there are multiple levels of seating on X2? I guess they must have added this after the train valley'd... Or it's just the TPR GP -
What's your favorite Flat ride?
dylanreich replied to FlyingScooter's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Wait, WHAT happened? I rode that ride at the OC fair too. Pretty trippy and disorienting. Yes, during the part where you're just spinning straight upside down our OSTR's basically fell into that big metal sheet... Maybe I'm not describing/remembering it correctly but that's what it seemed like, not that there was anything wrong with the ride; I was thinking that that's what the big metal sheet was for. But who knows. This takes me too... I should also mention (I mentioned it on another thread somewhere) that on the Tango ride my restraints started un-notching and by the time the ride was over was on the last notch. I spoke with someone from RCS (the company that provides the rides) they said that they inspected the ride and that there was nothing wrong with it; I was back at the fair three days later and Tango was shut down and I witnessed them re-bolting all of the restraints. Apparently this happened to someone else as well. -
What's your favorite Flat ride?

Evolution, a fair ride. It's actually the same thing as Excalibur at SFStL, just without the nice theming and look. I literally shit my pants when I rode it at the OC Fair in SoCal when the OSTR's couldn't handle and fell into the metal sheet in front of everyone. -
Do you mean the Santa Monica Freeway (I-10) or I-405? I-405 (also known as the San Diego Freeway, for reasons unknown as I-405 doesn't actually take you to San Diego) was the freeway with tons of construction when we left L.A., I don't recall that much on I-10. --Robb I-405, sorry to cause any confusion, most people here refer to the 405 as the Santa Monica freeway, but only where it goes through Santa Monica Most of the construction is done now, however, as I'm sure you know that the 405 is part of the route to SFMM... I might suggest people leaving a bit earlier to get to SFMM than they were planning on (unless that was early), because the traffic through Santa Monica can be VERY unpredictable.

As an L.A. native, I would suggest going to the Venice boardwalk. Not just the skating, but going up and down the whole boardwalk. There's lots of performers, but some of them are actually really good. Even if you don't feel like buying anything from the tons of merchants, it's fun to check it all out. I wouldn't expect it to be too crowded around WCB. And^, the santa monica freeway can get VERY crowded, especially with the construction that they had been doing the last few years.

The "GP" of Theme Parks Facebook Thread!

^But what about the 18 year olds? -
^Haha, I literally live 3 minutes from LAX. In fact, there is an In-N-Out right by the airport on Sepulveda Blvd., if you want to go there. Where are you staying? I would say to try to check out some of the touristy spots in Hollywood if you're into that, because Friday rush hour traffic is horrendous if you need to get on the freeway. Also be very careful of your surroundings while driving, we have many bad/crazy drivers here. Let us know if you have any specific questions you need answered!

The Rumor / Crazy Idea Superthread

If Leviathan succeeds, then I think the park may add a B&M Giga for 2013. Now THAT would be exciting. -
The Rumor / Crazy Idea Superthread

^^While I would love to see Poltergeist at SFMM (it *is* my home park...), I am placing my bets on the rumors of a 2013 record-breaking launched coaster in that spot. If I remember correctly, I read rumor mixed with speculation that the ride would "change the park's skyline" and might possibly stretch from Dejavu's old spot to Log Jammer's old spot and back. Hanging out on a limb here, I know. -
You know, I may have to back off of the Green Lantern observation a little. We did not go on the ride, but watched a bunch of cycles. Having been on it a few times before, it sure looked like there were only 2 cars on that day. Cycles were taking an incredible amount of time. Yea, you probably witnessed two cars going through the ride at once. It really depends on how fast they're getting people through. The ride tends to have a lot of downtime, but sometimes they can keep the ride operational through this, but it slows everything down. Normally they're loading cars while there's cars going through the ride, and then as cars go through they send another one up.

If you don't mind waiting, I would say that my favorite ride on X2 was at night in November when it was very cold and very windy. The fire was off, but barely being able to breath with the wind-chill and the roughness caused by the wind made it a whole lot more exhilarating. This is very off-topic, but I thought I'd put this out there.

^^I'm surprised, I don't really find Apocalypse to have much airtime at all, if any...
