^ I have to agree I've always thought that SFMM took very good care of that carousel. If I recall that thing is pushing 100 years old now.

I've had a few... My favorite however is a few years ago I went to Taco Bell and made a decent size order in the drive thru. I get my food and quickly check to make sure they got everything, at which point I notice that basically the entire order is wrong. So I go back inside to complain and get it fixed. The manager comes over and when I tell him the problem he responds with "Sir, that's impossible." Confused I ask him why it's impossible, and he informs me that, "It's against out policy at this store to make mistakes, if it's wrong it's your fault, we simply don't things wrong." Now I was in complete shock at this so I asked the guy for his name and wrote it down, then I informed him I could be placing a call to Taco Bell's corporate office. I finished the conversation by asking him if he enjoyed his job, because if I had my way he might want to consider a new one... Sure enough he caved in with that and I got a new order.

I recall that for a long time towards the late 90's and early part of this decade the park had wanted to build a large shopping area. At the time, as it was before downtown disney, they had been saying it was going to rival Citywalk. It included a major expansion for the park. The plans were serious enough that I have seen a handful to drawings of what the area was going to have looked like. However as we all know those ended up being plans that simply never got off the drawing board.

Yesterday was fun. It was clear and in the mid 60's... Except at around 7-9 in the morning when it was in the low 20's and snowing.

I doubt the case will make it all the way to trial because Six Flags isn't going to want to deal with it. It'll make it to the Discovery process and Six Flags will settle it. As Ginzo said, I believe only like 2-3% of all cases filed will ever make it to trial. What will be more interesting is to see if Six Flags turns around and files a lawsuit against Intamin.

I normally try to eat a single meal in the park. When I was younger and we still lived a few miles from SFMM my parents used to like to go after dinner for a few hours. The park would give free parking something like 3-4 hours before the park closed. We would go in, spend a couple couple hours there and go home. It cost us nothing other then the cost for gas, since we all had season passes. For that to work, of course, you need to live pretty close to the park.

What confuses me is that there should not be that much of a question as to where the car was when the cable snapped. As a lawyer (I'm not a lawyer, though I am working on it) the first thing I would do is find out who was there to see the incident. The girl who was hurt is a pointless witness because her memories are going to be distorted. However what about the other riders? People standing around the ride? The ride op? Security Camera's pointed in the right direction? The list could go on and on of all the potential people I'd call. If I was the attorney for the plaintiff I would call the girl to the stand. The judge and the people on the jury (assuming this is a jury trial) are human and they're going to see a girl walk to the witness stand without a foot. She could be a powerful witness just through her own presence. If I was an attorney for the defense however I would try to show maintance records. I'd show the training of the employees in running the ride. The injured party was, under American tort law, an invitee which means that Six Flags had a duty to her to warn her hazardous conditions which cannot be fixed, and fix those conditions that can be repaired. I'd attempt to show to the court that the park had taken all necessary measures in testing and maintaining the ride, and that this failure was unforeseen.

With Six Flags claiming that the ride was not designed correctly, it makes me wonder if they will implead Intamin into the suit. What that basically means is that you'd have the girl who was hurt suing Six Flags. Six Flags then would turn around and say that "yeah this happened and we feel horrible, but it's not our fault, it is Intamin's." Six Flags then would use impleader to bring Intamin in as a defendant liable to Six Flags. Now to be fair I don't feel like putting much more thought into this, but there could be some jurisdiction problems to doing this, I'm not actually sure what kind of presence Intamin has within the United States. Furthermore I have no idea what the laws of Kentucky look like, however if Six Flags brings Intamin is they could possibly be able to get the case removed to a federal court. Just some thoughts, but my guess is that Six Flags will settle and then possibly file a separate suit against Intamin for the incident. As far as the ride op suing Six Flags, I just can't really think of any good cause of action they would have against the company. If I was the attorney for Six Flags I would file in my pleading that the plaintiff failed to submit a claim upon which relief can be granted. I think that would take care of the ride op's claim.

^ I believe the logic in asking that was because Freefall is listed, and Freefall has about as good of a chance as Flashback does about opening anytime soon.

I'm sad to hear the Sierra Twist is one its way out, always like the ride though it never really did much. I'm curious to see what they do with the land that Freefall was one. One can dream that a 120,000 foot tall S&S tower ride is going to be placed there, but my guess is that an even more exciting ride is going to go there... Ready? I predict that the land where Freefall stood will remain empty. Seriously short of Bench: The Ride being placed in the spot, there really isn't that much room to put anything. Freefall fit well because Riddlers was designed around it. I tend to think that the land the ride is one is going to remain empty. I'm curious however to see what goes where Circus Wheel stood, there is a lot of open land there, and I think that would be a good place for a future major expansion. Finally as far as Spinout goes, when I was running my website years ago the most common rumor was the Spinout was coming out. I had it confirmed several times from otherwise great sources that the ride was coming out. I won't believe it until the ride is a pile of wood on the ground.

So the picture of the building where the hand puppet snake used to be got me wondering... How many years has it been since Vinny (that was his name right?) made his last showing?

Sad to hear about Freefall, I always found that to be one of the better flat rides in the park. However I am glad to hear that Jet Stream is getting some rehab, I was worried for a while that its days might be numbered.

With the state of the park before the fire, I'd be much more surprised if this didn't end up being the final nail in a coffen that was already basically closed.

Cheaters win all the time, otherwise what would be the point of cheating?

You know Eric, I saw the bar graph as well when I looked at it. Reminds me of Enron stock.

So X is going to look like the Denver airport. Hopefully the ride itself is at least more fun when this work is.

It doesn't seem like it has been a full 5 years since Scream, but overall I would agree that the park seems to be heading in the right direction. I'm very curious to see what the park looks like 10 years from now.

I didn't think they were still making HD capable sets anymore, I thought that they were all HD ready.

Seems like the trend is to sell HD-DVD as a good upscaling player. At this point I'd spend the extra and get a Blu-Ray, the format war is all but over.

It is currently 18 outside, and tonight we're getting "wintry mix," whatever that actually means. I'm missing California right now.
