Knoebels Discussion Thread
anonymouscactus replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
So everyone talks about how good the food is at Knoebels, but what specifically should I try when I get there that's good? What is YOUR favorite food at Knoebels? Just looking for recommendations. Dollywood has Cinnamon Bread, what do you gush over at Knoebels? -
I don't necessarily agree with her (I like both parks for different reasons) but my fiancee said she likes Dorney better than Knoebels (granted she didn't have a ton of time to spend there to really take it all in) so take that as you will [patiently awaits snarky comment from coasterbill] No crowds on the dry side. Anytime. Ever. We stayed at the comfort suites across from the park for Haunt last year and we had no issues and it was a fantastic rate especially for seeing the park from our room. I want to say it was only ~$75 which was a steal for the quality. Also it made me laugh that the front desk didn't say a single word while we checked in even though we were covered from head to toe in blood since we went to halls of horror on the way into down (ps: it was awesome)... Dorney can be completed, like, EVERYTHING on the dry side in like ~2-3 hours if you get there at opening. Keep that in mind that it's not a full day park unless you do the water park (which I can't rate because we've never done it) or want to be extremely bored

Maybe they MASHED into SaraAB's car at the Williamsville tolls? And SPUD out of control!? Maybe we can all CHIP in for an ez-pass to make the tolls a little easier. As far as the original post, seriously, traffic in Buffalo and the surrounding region is nothing even close to being horrible. You can't base it on that ONE time you drove on a few years ago where all the stars aligned. Traffic can suck around the Darien Lake exit on a concert day, and that's about it. These complaints are pretty outrageous in my opinion. Rush hour at the blue water tower is acceptable to complain about because that merge is not designed properly, but we all have it easy in Buffalo based on my MANY travels.

Had an amazing day at the park today, despite the rain. Had a ton of food from the food trucks but wanted more. I think the winner for me was the candied apple roasted pork tacos from the Guac Spot. Longest line we waited in was 8 minutes for front row of Ka. Even the Safari at noon was a walk-on (there were 8 people on our truck. 8!!) Joker broke down twice but that was the only downtime we experienced. I might write more later, but it was definitely worth waking up at 3am this morning to make the drive to the park.

Dollywood Discussion Thread

^^ absolutely nailed it, yet again. Your videos are awe-inspiring. It's a shame that a lot of Dollywood is hidden away (for videos sake), but even so, you got some amazing shots. Keep up the awesome work! -
First park of the year! Purposely chose food truck weekend so it better be good! -- Driving 6.5 hours Saturday morning and then park all day. First time I'm not doing 2 nights / driving down the night before. Gotta prepare myself for the craziness of the west coast trip later this year, I guess. (and so I can afford a flash pass if needed. Oh, and lockers ). If you see someone passed out in front of a food truck it's probably me... Boldikus, please keep your food truck boner away from me.... Anyone have experience with these food trucks / any must-haves? I had the waffle truck at HITP and it was pretty damn good 8) -- looking for other suggestions on things to try!

Groupon! https://www.groupon.com/deals/gl-cedar-point-2 One and two day tickets ($42/$70 -- doesn't have to be consecutive). Two days even good through Haunt and in combination with CP shores on a single day, or a one day ticket through labor day. No convenience fees. Get 'em while they are hot! -
Canada's Wonderland Discussion Thread
anonymouscactus replied to BDG's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^^ We usually visit on Sundays (but not July!) It's crucial you get there at opening. Even if you budget for fast lane make sure you run to wonder mountains guardian before getting the pass as that is not on fast lane and the line jumps up to 45+ min QUICK. Keep in mind pass holders get early entry on Sundays for select rides, but lucky for you it's not any of the major stuff for that date so you shouldn't see crazy lines for the coasters that early. In July it will be pretty crowded and I would budget the pass. One thing that is great about Wonderland Fast Lane is the lack of merge points / they take you right to the station. Good luck. -
Someone on Facebook on an official Kings Island post is complaining that they are giving first rider t-shirts to those who are donating to their charity event. This person has gotten t-shirts for all their previous rides / that they should re-think their strategy because of how much they spend at the park and shouldn't do a fundraiser. It is so cringey trying to read through it and they aren't even trolling. Then you read through this thread. I can't believe there are so many people like this out there that just don't get it / are self entitled a**holes. Ugh. I can understand why you don't want to be associated with some of us and I know you've seen MUCH worse over the years. Thanks for all you do and put up with.

Damn, it would be SO EXCITING if we got a couple new roofs for 2017! I'll bring my camera opening day and try to get photos from the giant wheel of our new improvements for you guys! At least in Tennessee they have goats on the roof. Here we just have rusted nails thanks to the teardrops from Cuda Falls. -- R.I.P.

Nobody mentioning the new loose articles policy that went into effect this weekend? No items even in zippered pockets on Ka and Toro. See bottom of screenshot: As I understand, security was asking every guest coming through, and if they saw you in the queue on your phone they would ask you to get out of line. They are not wanding or putting people through metal detectors yet, but they have been enforcing pretty heavily... at least for now. Obviously you can't stop someone from lying and they aren't frisking anyone, but there you go. Note: I have not been to the park this weekend, just passing along the news

Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread

The correct process is to get a parent swap card at guest services. Not sure about Kings Island specifically but they have a parent swap policy so I'd imagine they aren't supposed to let those under the height requirement through, regardless if they are riding or not. I know they used to have the babysitting child jails on the ride platforms but they got rid of those a long time ago -
Fun fact. Double ride platinum is no longer a thing at any Six Flags park according to the websites. All of the park websites were changed about a month or two ago to take out the double ride stuff and now only advertise a 90% shorter wait. Edit: whether or not this holds true I don't know. Also the fine print at the bottom of the sfgam site still says it's only available at select rides, even though it was removed from the main description, so, *shrug*
