  1. *turns on Beastie boys sabotage* goes down first drop and first 'loop'... weeeeeeeeeee! That was fun! Brake. Fun swoop. Brake again. More brakes. Brake again. Even more brakes. Brakes again. End of ride. 10/10? Listen all y'all it's a sabotage.
  2. Do not click blue Link do not click... gaahhhh! I hate those things... :/
  3. I didn't know giving driving instructions was still a thing. For those that are unaware, Google Maps can tell you instantly, based on traffic and other factors, what route to take. Granted it doesn't take scenery into account, but who needs that when you're going to Cedar Point. Just found it weird, lol. Oh, and take 2 to rye beach Edit: I was kidding/being a prick when I was mentioning the existence of Google Maps. Smiley faces didn't cut it. Carry-on.
  4. OK, i'm glad others are sharing their Viper love. I guess I'm not crazy after all. I never see any talk about the ride anywhere so I had no clue what to expect and came as an awesome surprise. I'm surprised it's not mentioned more when people are discussing woodies. *shrug* AE ran pretty well too!
  5. When I visited last year I felt that Viper was one of the better woodies I've been on. Lots of fun.
  6. I think you proved his point... -- it sold out the one night I went to Kings Island a few years back! Take that, Bill!
  7. *cough* Even though it was the stupidest thing to be fired for and made zero sense and I literally said nothing... lol, I'm over it. It did make me laugh when I was insta-denied when I submitted an application a few years ago. Blacklisted for life! Though, it put me on a path to a good life in the end, so I can't complain
  8. Well, one thing that wasn't mentioned is that MELT will be the only place *in* the park selling LIQUOR and Cocktails! And what better place than the Joe Cool area, lol. Source: cpfoodblog
  9. I got spreadsheet happy last night... Only what's planned at this very second but there will be more, for sure...
  10. Crazy? Yeah. Probably. lol I guess we'll see how it all plays out. And yes the commute times listed I know were best case scenarios and I'll budget differently when the time comes. Another question: Does anyone know if dining plans are good during haunt and scary farm? Might be worth it to try and get a dining plan this year (only $108 USD for platinum dining from Canada's Wonderland!) along with funpix along with all season drink (hooray no souvenir bottle!!)... damn Cedar Fair, take all my money -- gotta love how they charge the same amount in Canadian currency for all the platinum stuff and add-ons. I'll be visiting Cedar Point (I know their food sucks) and Kings Island and Wonderland multiple times so I should probably give it a try... at least on one of our two passes so we can still eat worthwhile stuff not good on the plan. (Already planned on going to CP's brew & bbq this year!) The only other thing is the possibility that HHN will NOT be on that Thursday (last year Hollywood it was, year before it wasn't, Orlando does not have that Thursday this year) in that case I will have to swap Knott's and Universal Thursday and Friday... in which case I know I will need a FOL pass for HHN for sure if I have to go on a Friday. I guess we shall see!
  11. So I'm planning a trip at the end of September with my fiancee to take advantage of our season passes and our love of Halloween. I picked a time when I know all the parks have started Halloween stuff but avoiding opening weekends. I pretty much priced it all out but had some questions and concerns. Here is my crazy spreadsheet: First off, I'm a cheap ass and picked the hotels I did because they are all CHOICE hotels (I earn points, they usually do stay 2 nights get 1 free promos, and I get a AAA discount without prepaying) and I generally won't spend more than ~$100 on a room. That being said I check reviews on various sites and look for the best value. 1) So my first question, has anyone used SIXT rental cars? They are by far the cheapest, and normally I wouldn't go cheapest, but for one way rentals they are the only ones that aren't outrageously priced (I'm picking up at LAX and dropping off at San Jose or San Francisco). Any tips or advice? Anything I need to watch out for? 2) I've had annual passes to Universal Orlando so there isn't too much new at Hollywood for us. I've never been. I want to do the 2pm combo (provided they offer it this year) so I can do the tram tour (fast/furious, Kong), hit up mummy, maybe see waterworld, and do the other unique things. This also gives us early access to the houses as I'd like to avoid the FOL pass. It looks like they go to 2am even on Thursday's so I don't think we will have trouble doing everything based on reviews and trip reports I've read. Any personal experiences cramming in all of the haunts on a Thursday night? Advice? 3) I'm not too worried about Knott's. We will have the entire day, plan on the boofet, and I'm hoping we can get the haunts in without Skeleton key provided I follow the advice of what order to do everything in from reports I've read. Worst case I'll get a skeleton key. 4) Magic Mountain is going to be an all day affair. This is going to be a Saturday during fright fest so I'm budgeting a GOLD flash pass. Depending on how lines are for the Haunts I might get the express option too and to also get a head start on some sleep for a long drive the next day. Still not too worried about this just wish the one reservation rule wasn't in effect for some rides. Now where things get dicey due to timing, traffic, and other potential unknowns as I have never been to these parks before... 5) Heading up to Discovery Kingdom (not doing fright fest) and they open at NOON. I've never been to the park and don't know much about it other than the website. Getting their at noon with lack of sleep might be tough. I want to get everything done by 5 so we can head to CGA. I do want to see the animal exhibits. I do want to ride joker multiple times. V2 is unique. The clones I can skip. No water park. Is 3-5 hours enough to do this? Do they have any animal shows or is it just exhibits? I am not budgeting a flash pass for this park. Any other must-dos? 6) CGA is going to be the toughest. Even though Sunday night shouldn't be crowded, I have to fit in both rides AND haunts as I've never been before. I'm thinking fright lane will be a waste because lines won't be too bad. I've done a million Skeleton key rooms at other parks so that's not a loss, but even with short lines and even if we did get the key, I'm thinking 5 hours isn't enough to do everything and each coaster once. Any advice for this? How are ride lines during haunt? Should I do rides first then haunts, or would it be more effective to do the reverse? Or mix them up depending on where I'm walking? I don't know ANYTHING about this park. Anyone see any other potential issues with my itinerary other then the fact I'm going to be exhausted as all hell? Oh, and what are tolls like in that area? Do I need cash to avoid paying the rental car fees for a transponder? I don't recall any tolls around LA 9 years ago... Thanks!
  12. That's good to hear. I'd hate to make the long drive from the LA area to just go to Discovery Kingdom. I have platinum passes for Cedar Fair so doing both parks should work perfectly. Thanks!
  13. We used it on a Saturday over a holiday weekend and it was worth it for that reason, but it's still not very good. They give you a time window but it does allow you to ride AFTER the end time as well, so hypothetically you could buy it, and then at the end of the day do all the coasters instead of spacing everything out since it's annoying and only one coaster scheduled per hour (or was it 45 min?) Like others said, it's assigned seating but you do get right without any wait from what I remember. This was 2 years ago so YMMV
  14. So it says on the website that the park is closed during 49ers home games, does this apply at night during HAUNT times as well? I'd imagine a 1:00 Sunday game is done by 7:00, but do they still close all night?
  15. They are going to have a lot of angry people on concert days. It used to be terrible when they used to do 7 or 14$ admission back in the day but at least they had 2 trains for everything but I can't imagine how bad it's going to be on concert days with the free admission.
  16. Never heard of the kid. There are a bunch of jokes and memes I could make about that concert but the kid is only 14 y/o so... I'll refrain... -- go six flags!
  17. #whatsintheshed #theresnoearthlywayofknowing https://youtu.be/mKZT2u3gYQI
  18. Drinks on a coaster: I'm pretty sure they also did something with ice cream cones on a water slide
  19. Sorry to tack on another question since you mentioned FP... how much is the additional fee to add on x2 with a gold flash pass? I hate how twisted colossus is limited to one reservation... does this ever vary and sometimes you get more than one reservation? (I know SFGAM sometimes alters reservation numbers for Goliath and said limited availability on the website (luckily not on the day we went and had unlimited reservations). Any other flash pass advice? I'd be going on a Saturday at the end of September and would probably want multiple rides on Twisted Colossus, X2 and full throttle, the rest of the rides would probably be one and done... then again I havnt been to the park in about 12 years so the newer rides I know nothing about. Thanks!
  20. Didn't we all get the hint on March 20, 2016 (yes that's how traumatizing it is) that the boat thing needs to stop? I could have sworn a mod even chimed in at one point but I could be wrong. Page 2957. Go read those few pages of nonsense, and then we can let the boat go forever and live happily ever after. So something I was wondering today when someone brought up McDonalds... wasn't there a legitimate one in the park at some point, or am I imagining things or thinking of a different park? Where exactly was it? I vaguely remember a little stand in the way back near Maverick but this was a long time ago and I could be making this all up...
  21. I wouldn't call it expensive when any meal in the park is $10 + $5 drink. Midway Market is usually $16 and includes unlimited freestyle and unlimited food. Yes I prefer Famous Dave's but compared to the other swill in the park it's alright.
  22. Quick question: for haunt, what is there to do between 5:30 when the park 'closes' and 7:00 when the park opens for haunt? (based on the website hours there is that weird interim) -- is there any rides or areas open during this time? Anywhere to eat? Etc. I know some parks do a buffet meal during transition, does CGA do anything like that? Also it appears it's not a seperate ticket event and I can attend with my platinum pass. Just wanted to confirm. Trying to plan a big west coast trip Thanks!
