Holiday World mentions in their policy that you should only take pictures of your own group/family. You can always ask depending on your purpose. -

Holiwood Nights is themed to Jurassic Park this year ('Jurclassic Park' -- they restored a classic ride this year) so there are random dinosaurs running amoc, employees in lab coats quoting the movie, Jurassic Park music around the park, and other fun things themed to the movie. Even our hourderves in the water park were properly themed with a carnivore (pterodactyl wings), dessert section (mini volcanoes and dirt cups with fossils in them) and herbivores (with brontosaurus chow). (photo by Paula) They make the themes fun every year, making each years event very unique. They put a lot of thought and effort into this stuff. -
Quick summary: Lightning run was a TON of fun, and storm chaser was a SOLID ride as well (damn these rides both throw you around!); still not sure if I like wicked cyclone better or not, though (I did have 50/50 great rides vs painful rides due to my size and weight distribution ;-/) Nothing special with Thunder Run (?) or whatever it's called, it wasn't terrible but there was nothing memorable about it. I'm not sure why they are advertising a 'new train'... was it worse before? Oh, and T3 sucks and needs to be launched into the sun. Not even the vest restraints or a front row ride saved it. Although am I correct or crazy in the fact the ending is different than most SLCs? Like the track is straighter instead of having that awkward side to side bounce to line it up with the brake run. Like I said, it's been awhile since I've been on one of these. Overall an awesome few hours and well worth the stop for $25. The waterpark looks a lot nicer than I realized but we just didn't have the time.

I don't really care for the events either, and it's exactly why we didn't go to Coastermania; there's nothing really unique about the event itself that we can't enjoy any other time... unfortunately with Holiwood Nights it's pretty much the only time to ride in the dark... plus they do an amazing job of the movie theming with the event, so we can't pass that up. Remember folks, coaster geeking IN MODERATION. -

Went to Louisville Mega Cavern today, right by Kentucky Kingdom, to experience their Mega Zips attraction. It was a lot of fun and each of the (5?) ziplines were unique enough as you didn't feel like you were doing the same thing over and over. Pretty neat being entirely underground (literally more than 100 feet below the Louisville Zoo!). The rocks make you feel like you are going pretty fast. The two guides made the experience great and they handle all the technical stuff and braking which you don't always get at other ziplines. It's a bit pricey but I think it was worth it for a one time thing. -

Well, as much as I didn't want to ride it, I shall now take my first ever ride on T3 later this week since i now know it's the best ride in the park! And probably the entire region! In fact, maybe I will skip Holiday World and just ride T3 over and over and over instead! (Fun Fact: when I was a kid I rode Mind Eraser at Darien Lake 26 times in a row. It's the only time I've ever puked from riding coasters. It also probably explains why I've only been to Darien Lake twice in the past 15 years despite living less than 30 min away since I've been SLC traumatized. Maybe I should relive that childhood memory at Kentucky Kingdom. Maybe It will reverse the spell and make me want to visit Darien Lake and ride SLC's again? *shrug*) But seriously, I'm kind of excited to ride an SLC again despite everyone saying the new restraints don't do anything for that ride. I guess we will see...

Today I did the Whirlpool Jet Boat tour out of Lewiston NY. It's basically a very fast boat ride that takes you through some crazy rapids in the Niagara River / Whirlpool / Devil's Hole and you essentially get crazy soaked (especially the first three rows). While it was a lot of fun, it was also $63 (though I had a $10 off per person discount making it $53). There were only 4 or 5 really intense moments where you have so much water over you that you feel like you're going to drown; it was awesome! ---- BUT... if you just want to feel the power of water, I still say Cave of the Winds is the best experience in all of Niagara Falls / surrounding area and the best value. Also, on the jet boat you do NOT see Niagara Falls. Right next door to where you board is a restaurant called the Silo where you can buy the HAYSTACK, which was featured on Travel Channels MAN VS FOOD. @2:40. Mmmm. That's all I got. So while it was fun, I feel there are better ways to spend the money. -

When you hit the brake run with heavy breathing and coaster sweats... I dunno man. To each their own, I guess. -

What is the policy on this at most parks? I thought I read somewhere that you get a hand stamp at CP and other CF parks but I've never tried it. We usually hire a fluffy, fluffy bunny filled with medicine and goo to keep jackets or other warm clothing in for when the weather turns or sun goes down, but I'd rather not if I have a close parking space. Every park I have ever been to offers some sort of reentry if you go to your car, with the exception of some Halloween events. You usually have to get a handstamp even if you have a season pass as they generally only scan once per day per park, but now that Cedar Fair has photos on file you can scan as much as you want. Day tickets will need a hand stamp however. Edit: Some parks are weird about reentry of your CAR to the parking lot, but generally if you have your receipt they will let you back in for the day. I know I've done it at Cedar Point in the past, and technically we generally have 2 season passes so we could always just use the other one if we want to leave and come back to say Wonderland, which I think does not offer car re-entry for some reason. I *think*. I could be wrong, though. -

I've been waiting for your opinion on Voyage because I was curious how you would respond. I'm glad you enjoyed the park! It really is a unique place and has a great collection of rides. Too bad you only got one ride on it. I know the park isn't open late during the regular season but night rides on Voyage are absolutely insane (not as pitch black as it used to be with the expansion of the water park and Thunderbird) but once that thing is warmed up and it becomes hard to see what's coming up, it's just ridiculously stupid. My first ever ride opening year in the dark was just an experience I will never forget. Thanks for sharing your initial thoughts, and yes, Plymouth Rock Cafe is awesome. Just makes me more excited for my trip in a couple days. Edit: also, I know you might not be a water park person, but between the 2 water coasters and zoombabwe, all world class IMO, they really are worth the time and effort to ride. My fiance absolutely hates waterparks, thinks they are no fun and absolutely disgusting vial places, but Splashin' Safari is the first she has ever really enjoyed and made it all worth it. -

Gatekeeper and Valravn still have bins. Both rides require bags, stuffed animals, cups, etc to be placed in a fluffy, fluffy bunny filled with medicine and goo at the entrance. We were able to place our bag inside the bins at Gatekeeper. That's only because the greeter didn't catch you, though. They are supposed to stop anyone with bags, as per the website, and I can say with confidence they stop >80% of the people trying to come in to Gatekeeper (ok I made up that number but you get the point). If you happen to get by and you are ready to load there is really no other choice, but that is not what the bins are meant for. -

I think you're confusing park policies, as someone started bringing up Great Adventure's new policies and what happened to them at Great Adventure, not Cedar Point. At Cedar Point, if you have a zippered / cargo pockets, you are fine. You won't be interrogated.
