  1. This sucks. Looks like I won't be making it this year simply because they wait until the last minute to close and a little bit of snow keeps them closed anyways. I can't afford a 6 hour drive for them to be closed. I know I'm not their target audience, but their decisions have been frustrating to say the least. I've been looking forward to this event for months. I know they can't control the weather... but it's a winter event. I'm not expecting all the rides to be open, but give us something???
  2. I was going to make a lame joke about calling the ride steelhawk instead... but it turns out cedar fair has that one too... Surprised they haven't used Steel Eagle yet to be honest with you Anyway, now that FastLane+ is confirmed to be available for Steel Vengeance, I am very much looking forward to not waiting 4+ hours for this thing. I like that they are finally advertising the Platinum pass discount officially this year as well (buy FL in-park get upgrade to FL+ free)... that should pay for the Platinum passes pretty quickly for us as I'm sure we'll be getting it a few times this season... I mean... look at that thing...
  3. Not sure why I found that as funny as I did.... lol!
  4. Awesome photos! As far as going to the edge of the canyon.... F THAT. I barely made it to the edge knowing I had a rope attached to me on the CN TOWER edgewalk, let alone doing what you did holy shit nopenopenope. Funny how I can skydive no problem, or go on huge coasters, but walking the lifts and being near the edges of things (even looking straight down over the edge of a ferris wheel) already gives me the jitters for whatever reason even though I know I'm safe. Anyways, keep it up. Looking forward to the next installments as always!
  5. Seems like a waste to have a coaster of that caliber just sitting there like a giant lawn ornament. They clearly missed out on a really great marketing opportunity... Flurry 32.5 I expect a royalty check next year when this actually happens, Carowinds.
  6. Just read the fun spot reports... great stuff. And thanks for the laughs!
  7. Classic Six Flags. At least he knew to use a knife instead of a hammer!
  8. I heard they will be renovating it and turning it into a building where they host birthday parties... luckily I can see into the future after you hear the news... I hope I get an invite so I can try out Tantrum. Then when you're ready for marriage, you could get engagement photos in the field with the Batman track. Alright I'm done. But in all seriousness, I hope this new ride brings some attendance to the park so we can get a lot more improvements. And hopefully no more lawsuits. It's a shame I still have no interest in going with a $60 season pass and living 20 min away. I still have no idea how they sell 2-3 day packages with their hotel and camping when you can literally get through EVERYTHING in a few hours. But I guess people do it.
  9. The Wombats - Lemon to a knife fight [emoji522]
  10. ^ and then there's always the kid that decides to start flinging the turnstile around (literally) 100+ times while they stand in line, skewing the numbers... but yeah. Most parks will record turnstile clicks often (every hour). I can't remember Cedar Point specifically but a lot of coasters now-a-days are counted by whomever is in controls instead of relying on turnstiles. Just count the number of empty seats when it's busy or count the number of seats that are full when it's light and then calculate from there.
  11. Alan Walker - Tired
  12. ##Audible groan## Don't want to post in the main thread because someone had already started with the B word on the forum. Ugh. Don't want to make it worse. Not sure if I'm doing this right.... *officially hates self*
  13. Castlecomer - Fire Alarm
  14. Marshmello feat. Khalid - Silence
  15. On the same topic, do you think Steel Vengeance will be offered on FL+ at the start of the season, and if so, how much do you think it will cost per person? If I remember correctly, and I very well could be wrong, I think opening day Saturday for Valravn it was $180+ but was significantly less on Sunday.
  16. Tada: http://www.sfgate.com/crime/article/Bay-Are-mom-arrested-for-using-stun-gun-on-12327800.php
  17. Well... I guess you finally get your coaster... Sorry but I can't get excited enough for this one with Steel Vengeance down the road . Not much going on with the layout pictured in the article. But happy y'all are getting a coaster that isn't a stand-up
  18. truer words have never been spoken. lmao at that face
  19. ^^ "But if you’re looking for good value and don’t expect an extravagant production, this one’s right on the money." I don't understand why it's a "budget" event, though. The wristbands are not cheap and are a charge above and beyond the ticket price (though of course most of the clientele are pass holders). Several Cedar Fair haunts are free with admission and WAY better, and even the likes of Scary Farm (which includes rides in the price of admission; granted it's only at night) aren't that much more than a wristband at Six Flags. Forget buying a ticket to Six Flags. The quality of many local haunts are far superior and cost less than a wristband at Fright Fest. Yet people continue to buy them in droves, so I guess there is no incentive to make it better, but to say it is a "value" is far from the truth in my opinion. It's a pretty expensive turd. Edit: I stand corrected, I forgot the wristbands only cost $17 for passholders, I think I was confusing myself with Discovery Kingdom which was more expensive (and which I did not participate in).
  20. Nothing wrong with that. I never understood people who can't drink delicious cold beverages in the cold. They are still delicious Anyway, cool report! Glad you got reunited eventually i'd imagine without cell phones, as you said, that can definitely suck. Sounds like flash pass made for a great night.
  21. Thanks for the report and photos! I love BGW, it's one of my favorites, but I can understand the points you make as well. I'm curious how the other parks you visited will compare...
  22. Awesome report!! Love all the photos (especially the on-ride photos!) you guys did a great job with the costumes. Love the atmosphere at Disney with everyone all dressed up!
  23. Just got around to reading this. Great report! Great photos! (but where is the blue filter!? -- sorry I'm going to bring it up every time ) While I agree they have the worst FastLane system, it does help that you are allowed to ride the rides in any order AFTER the designated time. So you spend some time in the zoo, the water park, get food, ride the Flume, whatever, and then go on a bunch of rides back to back without waiting for your stupid time. It says right on the card you are allowed to go on a ride after the designated times, just not before. It's still stupid, and you can't pick your seats, but worth noting. It was needed a few years ago when I went for sure. Compared to every other system it definitely is the worst.
  24. I have something to add to my coaster enthusiast bingo board, Bill... "watch POV of queue line"... -- I'll admit it is a ridiculously stupid queue.
  25. They have various names, but the road wheels / tractor wheels / running wheels are the ones on top of the track. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roller_coaster_wheel_assembly
