Ninja-Six Flags St Louis. I really dont think this coaster is as rough as people make it out to be. The transition out of the half corkscrew is a bit rough if you dont brace for it and the helix is a bit forceful, but the airtime on the first drop is great. I have an abusive relationship with arrow coasters so maybe ignore this one. Iron Dragon Cedar Point- I dont understand the hate for this ride at all. Its not the most intense coaster ive been on, but the way its built into a small wooded area in the middle of Cedar point is breath taking. This ride is amazing for the view alone. Flight of Fear Kings Island-Ill admit this ride has gotten rough, but the launch is still quite awesome.

Ive ridden Vortex at KI and Ninja at SFStl quite a few times. I believe that Vortex is significantly rougher.I agree the Ninja is rough, but it doesnt hurt as much as Vortex -

No...this would require a facepalm powerful enough to send ones palm through ones face and out the back of the skull... Such force cannot be conjured by normal humans. -

So Six Flags has made a ton of dumb decisions regarding ride placement... Im not saying that it'l definitely prevent them from moving Flashback to SFStL, but I am saying that it wouldnt do much for the park due to the existence of similar rides. Six Flags will ultimately do whatever they think makes sense even if it leaves us scratching our heads... -

I havent heard any rumors regarding SFStL's 2013 addition. I really hope that we do not get Flashback due to the fact that it would bring nothing to the park since it already has Mr. Freeze. Ive heard rumors before that they were going to do some sort of modification to The Boss. I do give Screamscape much credence, but I hope this is the case since this ride could use some work. -Kafka- -
Ever Been The Only One On A Ride?
Kafka replied to greatamerica1990sfan's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I got to ride Voyage at Holiday World completely alone once. We were there on a day in which it rained most of the days, but due to their awesome weather policy they kept all of the coasters running. Due to this fact, no one was at the park. I got a ride in the front seat alone, then another couple with more people in the car. It was pretty fun even though the ride was bone crushingly rough. -

Ive ridden reverse blast a couple times. Im not really impressed. The launch feels almost neutered because of the lack of wind. Other then that its exactly the same ride. I think if anything all it did was take away from a really fun ride. I cant wait until they turn it back once the fad is over... -

Holiday World Questions
Kafka replied to chargersmichael's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
1. I have never noticed a difference between the trains. It should also be noted that the ride has undergone an overhaul since ive been there so it could be a very different ride from last time I was there 2. The waterpark gets really busy really fast. Its not a terrible idea to go there first. I have not gone to the waterpark myself since I spent most of my time on the coasters, but its worth doing 3. The Raven isn't rough at all. I personally do not consider Legend very rough, even though it does have a lot of lateral force like people say. Regardless, it is not too rough to tolerate by any means 4. If you arent going to the waterpark, id hit raven, voyage, and then legend. Raven seems to get long lines rather quickly. The voyage can get long lines, but usually its not terrible. 5 Just look it up. 6. Use the park map 7. They have places where you can put stuff away such as shelves. 8. Enjoy and dont worry if its a rainy day. They're rain policy allows them to run the coasters even if its raining. We got the opprotunity to do this last season and we basically had the park to ourselves. Remember the fact you can get free drinks. This was one of the things i love about the park! -Kafka- -

Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread

Ive been at CP for the last couple days. I find that the lines have been rather long. My group refused to get fast lane passes so we ended up waiting a rather long time for everything. I think the way that the fast lanes have been implemented is rather nice due to the fact that it doesnt seem to dramatically interrupt the flow of guest onto the ride. Luminacity was rather cool even though we only got to see it from MF's line. Probably the coolest new event at the Point was night time ERT for Platinum pass holders. Last night the park had it for TTD and on tuesday they ran it for MF. We went last night and got more rides on TTD then I could count. If you have a pass to the park i definitely suggest going to one of these events. Other then that, everything was running really good. Mean Streak wasnt as rough as I remember it even though it was even more boring. I spent the entire time wondering when the ride would decide to do something exciting and it never did. MF was running as superbly as I remembered it. Honestly I never get tired of that ride. I managed to get my second ride on Maverick and was impressed by the amount of airtime it gives. The one ride that I do not agree with everyone here is Magnum. I love this ride a ton, but I feel that the very last seat in the last row gives the most airtime. I rode back to back there and in what everyone else suggests and I felt that I got similar airtime over the bunny hills, but I got more airtime over the first hill. Overall, the park remains amazing. I think the step towards being more family friendly definitely adds some balance to the massive rollercoaster collection -kafka- -

American Thunder or Mr. Freeze- Six Flags STL -
Im honestly not sure how i feel about this one honestly. I think its great that one of these shuttle loops is being refurbished, but at the same time I wonder whats going to happen with Bluegrass Boardwalk. I know the park is supposed to open in 2013 and I was definitely hoping Greezed Lightnin would open with the park. -Kafka-

Im a little concerned that the top hat on Mr. Freeze will be painful when taken backwards. I think there might be a chance that itl slam you into the back of the seat as it loses a bit of the power from the launch. Other then that going up the spike and the initial launch should be awesome. -
Amercia's 5 Scariest Roller Coasters
Kafka replied to christianscoasters's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I agree that fear is really subjective. Tall coasters do not scare me at all, but drop towers terrify me. If we made a list of rollercoasters that terrify us, whats the likelihood they would all be in China -

I think that an Intamin Woodie would be a great idea. I think that they should see if Intamin would consider building a wooden hypercoaster. It seems with the taller wooden coasters that are being designed by intamin currently, it could be done, it would be record breaking, and it would give the park a good woodie. This statement is entirely wild speculation, but i think it'd make sense for them to attempt. -

Thanks for the heads up! I didnt see they were pushing back the opening date on the ride. I live close enough to the park that i usually go multiple times in a season, so its not too big of a loss. Ill try and get pictures of the ride to see if there has been any retheming that can be seen from outside the ride. -

I cant imagine there being any problems with the reverse launch. I mean Superman does the same thing except much faster. I dont think the spike will be an issue simply because the restraints still do a good job restraining the individual and there really shouldnt be a chance to fall out. Ill be going on opening day, I assume that the lines will be long for Mr. Freeze, but I will try and get a ride it. Ill come back with some thoughts on it after riding it. -

That ride looks really nice. Im a bit mixed about SFStL continuing to upgrade its water park. I would love to see something newer done in the dry side of the park, but considering it makes sense. I think this is a really nice upgrade even though im not a super huge fan of waterparks. Im most curious about Mr. Freeze running backwards. I wonder if they are gonna run one side forwards and the other backwards or both sides backwards. Probably the latter considering the boon to popularity this is going to give the ride. -
Wood- Timberwolf or Voyage. I love Voyage to death but dear god that ride was rough this season Steel- Vortex (KI) or Corkscrew (CP) The Ninja is at my home park, but I think both of these rides are much rougher, at least with the Ninja it isnt too terrible if youve ridden it enough to know where the painful parts are.
