Idiot Ride Ops.
Mr Stratosphere replied to kidcoaster's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Okay so I have a couple of stories on this thread. Magic Mountain One day earlier in the year, my friend and I went to SFMM and saw a few interesting things that day. Ride ops love playing with the breaks on Gold Rusher. Ride ops fall asleep on the top of drops on Log Jammer and Jet Stream CELL PHONES..UGH Goliath.. We were riding in the middle of the train and the people in front of us were joking around seeing if they could get their legs out. The kid on the right did, but then his restraint went down more (which shows how great they check restraints) and he couldn't get his leg back into the train. He then jumped out of the train onto the lift's stairs. Everyone on that train was pretty much silent after that. We get back to the station and reported the incident, they let the kid back on the very next train. I was like whats up with that!? We went to guest relations and they were all like "What, thats not possible" So yeah that was interesting.. -
This is from http://www.screamscape.com/ I think it is hillarious!! As Screamscape reported back in May, the Manhattan Express finally got a new name to go with the new trains this week. The bad news is that they picked probably one of the dumbed and unmemorable names you could think of. Yes in a bit of uninspired marketing genuis that could have been thought up by my two year old, they’ve renamed it “The Roller Coaster”. The new name is already on the website. While the Manhattan Express wasn’t a stoke of genius either it made sense and fit the theme of the hotel and taxi cab trains. In a day where there are so many attractions in Vegas to choose from it doesn’t make sense to give your ride such a generic name. It’s not like it’s the only coaster in town to choose from, and given the high level of theme used at the New York, New York casino you would think they would have gone for something that might pay homage to New York’s world famous coaster, the Coney Island Cyclone. Hell, they could have just gone back to the old days when the ride was almost given the name the Big Apple. Anything makes more sense than calling it “The Roller Coaster”. Maybe they’ll rename Zumanity next to “That Cirque Show”. I guess I really shouldn’t expect much from the people who charge $12-15 to ride what was once known as one of the most painful coasters in the world.

The reason why i dont get the name change is because with the old trains they got rid of the checkers for the cab theme.. They get new trains that look like Taxi Cabs and they change the name..I just dont get it.. Also when it was themed for a runaway taxi why did the station look like a subway station!?!? John

So.. Does it count as another credit after a name change?? Well, if anything the new trains by Premier can count lol.. Premier also added a magnetic breaking system to the ride a couple of years ago.. They also increased the height requirement to 58" Does anyone else know if there is another ride with the same or higher height requirement? The new shoulder "clamps" are weird.. But a quote from a friend "At least it doesnt sound like trash cans rolling around the track anymore" John

Hey I believe that this is an all time low. As you know the Manhattan Express (New York, New York hotel & casino Las Vegas) has new trains built by Premier.. The ride experience is a little less rough, but it is still a TOGO DEATH MACHINE!! The coaster this week has gotten a new name Old: Manhattan Express New: The Roller Coaster at New York New York John

Speed--The Ride in Vegas
Mr Stratosphere replied to EuroTre's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
OMG stacking on Canyon blaster is horrid. Being on the train that is being stacked sucks!!! It stopps so hard in B block it isnt even funny! You hear everyone scream OWWWWW!!! When they run two trains i have to give it to the attendants there, they have to dispatch the other train once the other train goes through the second loop otherwise the train coming back to the station will abruptly stop at the transfer area.. Fuji-Q Highlands Discussion Thread

Actually they are totally different than the headrests that X already has.. Clearly they are test head rests, compare them to the headrests on EJ http://www.themeparkreview.com/solace04/solace38.jpg http://www.asovini.com/forum/album_pic.php?pic_id=63&sid=32d8fa89a690acf73e2722210ac7e603 -

Now those random Black Headrests that were on one of the trains for X make sense!!!! They were test headrests for EJ!! To me they didnt do much they were just cushier.. To me X will always be the best no matter how many 4D coasters they make just because it was the first. Just like so many people love Magnum XL 200 just because it was the first to break the 200ft mark and the same for Millennium.. John -

Las Vegas Trip Review
Mr Stratosphere replied to coastercraze2005's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I can confirm this weekend was not the best to come out and ride the rides. The only place that was open was the Adventuredome Park that is indoors at Circus Circus. Stratosphere's rides were closed due to extreemely high winds. All outdoor rides were closed due to 50 + MPH winds. -
