What is the coolest coaster name?
XYZ replied to Hilltopper39's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
One of my favorite coaster names is GhostRider, I think it fits perfectly with the ride. -
Well, its replacement name "Pandemonium" is highly overused since Six Flags lost the right to use Tony Hawk and had to rename the Tony Hawk's Big Spin coaster to "Pandemonium". I mean the "Pandemonium" name doesn't fit in with the skateboard cars and red and black color scheme! Pandemonium is a much nicer name than Tony Hawk's Big Spin, in my opinion. The cars don't even look like skateboards anyways.

Favorite Water Ride
XYZ replied to SFMM rocks my socks's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Timber Mountain Log Ride is my favorite water ride. It has such great theming, especially after the renovation, and is such a smooth log flume. -
I'm 123 years old, so I beat Dan in age.

I do agree with this. (Though, I don't like the names GhostRider and Coast Rider at the same park since they have near-identical pronunciations.) -
Forceless coasters is what makes B&M really lame, in my opinion. Silver Bullet is at my home park and I only ride it during season pass ERT because I really have no want to go on it. Silver Bullet is pretty boring and I would have no feeling of sadness if Cedar Fair decides to remove it from Knott's. Whenever I go to SFMM or CGA, I almost always ride their invert there since it is fun and exciting. After going on so many coasters, you don't feel the forceless coasters at all, but you definitely feel the forceful ones. Forcefulness is DEFINITELY what makes a B&M good.

I do agree about Gold Striker's pre-lift being really nice. It's much more intense than I thought. Heck, most GCIs have a really good pre-start anyways (though Gold Striker's pre-lift is my favorite of all of them).

Tony's Hawk Big Spin. It's really a dumb name.

------------ Here's why I think people complain about Six Flags... Anyone who has followed this business for any length of time (5 years or more) has seen Six Flags go from high highs to low lows, back up again, back down again, etc, etc... I can't think of any other US chain who has had such contrasts in direction that comes all the way from it's most senior management. We've all seen the "good years" at Six Flags, and I'll be honest, they were actually pretty decent. What we are seeing now is a shadow of their former self. Some years are better than others, but it hasn't been "great" in recent years. People complain because all the want is for Six Flags to be "decent" again. They aren't asking for the parks to be Disney or Universal, we just want them to "suck a little bit less" than they have in the past couple of years. I've had some of my worst experiences with Six Flags in 2012 and 2013 and I'm spending upwards of $100,000 with this company! I have every right to be pissed and complain!!! And so do the people who walk in spending $20 or $50. At the end of the day, we spend our money at the places that we feel we get the most value out of. I *like* Six Flags, but I used to like them a lot more. And all I want is to go back to that. I want to be able to like them more than I do right now. And because everything is cyclical, I'm sure we'll eventually see another buy-out, another wave of senior management, and another change for hopefully better in the near future. That's why people complain about Six Flags and I fully agree with it. --Robb I 100% agree with this. The reason why I complain about SFMM so much is because I really want it to be great.

I got this email from Knott's the other day: So, it looks like Camp Snoopy will be receiving a total of three new rides. Though, there is a possibility that it was a typo as the Boardwalk also received three "new" rides this year. (Also, I renewed my pass a few months ago, yet I still get these e-mails. )

Burgers. Burritos can get a lot messier than burgers, plus burgers taste better.

[RCT2] PROJECT I: Playland Park (NCSO)
XYZ replied to XYZ's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
In 1996, Wild Mouse and Lightning Speedway were built. Wild Mouse is the coaster on the top of the platform while the Lightning Speedway go-karts travel through the bottom of the platform. 1998 brought the Playland Aerial Railroad, a monorail transportation ride that brings guests from the Big Dipper Midway to Mining Town. The Big Dipper Midway station, as shown here, repurposed Atlantis Expedition's station, a now-defunct ride. It runs through a large portion of the park, weaving around existing attractions. Here, you can see it go above the front plaza. This is the 2nd station of Playland Aerial Railroad located in Mining Town. Boomerang opened in 1999, replacing Playland Monster. Here you can see Boomerang's lift going over the pathway next to Barnstormer's entrance. The cobra roll goes over a pathway, much like how Knott's Boomerang does it. --------------------- To commemorate the three rides that were removed for these three new rides, here is a screenshot of each of them: (Supposedly, people are interested in defunct attractions in RCT parks, so I'll give a try with making you weep by looking at fictional rides that are now defunct. ) -
Really? Family (6) Lucy Tugboat, Sierra Sidewinder, Pony Express, Wipeout, Gr8 Sk8, Woodstock Airmail Thrill (9) Screaming Swings, Silver Bullet, Revolution, Riptide, Supreme Scream, Xcellerator, Perilous, Vertigo, Windseeker Seems like they went back and fourth to me. These are all of the rides that were added in Knott's in the 21st century with red being thrill rides and green being family/kiddie rides. 2000 - Perilous Plunge 2001 - VertiGo 2002 - Xcelerator 2003 - La Revolucion 2003 - Great Skate 2004 - Silver Bullet 2004 - Lucy's Tugboat 2004 - Screamin' Swing 2004 - Riptide 2007 - Sierra Sidewinder 2008 - Pony Express 2011 - WindSeeker 2013 - Coast Rider 2013 - Surfside Gliders 2014 - Camp Snoopy renovation (Likely, several new rides will be built) It looks more like a transition from thrill to family rather than simply going back and forth.

Just because Cedar Fair hasn't built an Intamin ride for four seasons, including 2014, does not mean they parted ways. -

Quite interesting that they just built a glorified helix around the mountain instead of something a little bit more interesting, such as making some turns that go inside the mountain.
