I handle insurance claims for airports and we often take tours of airports and all the handling areas for baggage, maintenance, shops, etc. A few years ago we were at JFK in the baggage sorting area, awaiting a elevator up to the main floor. When the elevator opened, two gentlemen with selaed 55 gallons drums attmpted to roll them off. One of the lids pooped off and it's contents spilled all over. It was McDonald's grill/fry grease that they were disposing off. It was the most vile, vomit smell I have ever had the "pleasure" of sniffing. I have not eaten at McDonalds since.

http:// I'm glad you took notice of this. You'd be amazed at how many claims we handle of people falling over themselves in jetways.... Nice TPR!!!! -

I'm sure this is early on in the development, I just hope that the game doesn't necessarily have to follow the movie. Unless of course, the movie storyline is good. Which version of Transformers will it be? The originals (like from Eric's collection of videos) or the newer ones? One of my all time favorites was Transformers The Movie. How could you not like the voice talents of Leonard Nimoy, Eric Idle, Orson Wells, Casey Kasem, Judd Nelson, Robert Stack, along with the regulars from the daily cartoon?!!! I hope the movie is about their beginnings......man am I a nerd or, what?

Benzo, How did you get Pinnacle 9 to correctly calcualte record times? I can't more than 50 minutes of anything onto a DVD, even when I select fit video to DVD?

No firewire. Probably older camera (like me), USB will work. Enough of this tomfoolery. We're going to confuse the poor guy.

I think we're getting tape formats confused here. Here's a rundown: VHS … the standard taping format that most of us have used for many years. Most of us have VHS video tape players/recorders at home. We rent movies on VHS. It is a very inexpensive format. Most of our students have VHS VCR's at home. VHS is an ANALOG format.*** 8mm … a different taping format. Uses a different camera type and different media. Produces a better quality product than standard VHS. These tapes cannot be played directly in a standard VHS VCR. Most 8mm camera makers provide the purchaser with a cable to connect the camera to a standard VCR or television. This will allow the copying of the movie onto VHS tape or to simply view the tape. 8mm is an ANALOG format.*** Hi8 … a different taping format. Similar to the 8mm format. A slightly more expensive camera and media. Higher quality product. Same provisions needed to make copies to the standard VHS format as with 8mm. Hi8 is an ANALOG format. Most Hi8 cameras will allow the user to export an S-VHS signal.*** MiniDV … another format. The actual video produced with a MiniDV camera is similar (although slightly better) in quality to a Hi8/Digital camera. Some differences can be found when comparing the MiniDV's ability to shoot in darker places, better quality sound etc. But in general, the video is the same. MiniDV media is a little more expensive than Hi8 media. MiniDV cameras are more expensive. MiniDV will also export directly to a computer attached with Firewire. MiniDV cameras will also use cables to attach to standard VHS VCRs to make copies. MiniDV is a digital format.*** Basically, the Hi8 is a step up from VHS, but doesn't have the sound and ability to shoot as well in the dark as miniDV. When I bought my camcorder, Digital8 was brand new and I was told not to bother, as it wasn't worth the cost and DV cameras weren't available. Thus, I went with Hi8 as it can tape under S-VHS quality, a step up from VHS since I can output through S-video (higher quality video than the normal composite). ***These were taken from http://www.btathletics.com/vidprimer.htm

Actually, you can't say the other thread is wrong either. There's no mention of what type of camera he has. Don't assume all of us are using miniDV/Digital 8 cameras.

Next time please try a doing a search. There's a topic about this up about five threads. Here's the link: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=21778

Try capturing old VHS....yikes, I'm getting a ton of pixelation unless I capture at the hightest setting. For Hi-8, does capturing through S-video make that much of a difference? I've only done some test runs using composite and, I'm not totally impressed. Now if I could just find that S-video cable.....

We used to go the week before Thanksgiving, it was never bad. We went once in April, which was horrendous due to Spring Break and, once in the middle of June which was bad too. Last time I went, it was the last week in August. It was hot and humid but, all the kids had gone back to school so it was pretty empty. This year we're going the second week of October, as that seems to be a good time to go for crowds and weather. However, I defer to Eric as he seems to be there every weekend.

^^Eric, what did you think of the Adobe software? Fade??? who needs fade nowadays? You can add it in while editing!!! Besides, I thought your EE POV was quite well done.
-
How much is that???? And why is it the almighty software to use???
-
As stated by coasterdude, the link he provided kind of covers what you're talking about. The problem is that all the converters come with software, which means you have to purchase a $15 adapter with $60 software. Check CompUSA's website, they have adapters that are sold seperately the last time I checked. They all come with S-Video/Composite Video-Audio plugs to USB.

My wife and I are suckers for Buffalo Wild Wings. Cheap food, lots of beer! When we get really "nuts" we go to Chevy's or Outback. We don't eat out too much, as we're trying to save up to buy a house.

Thus far I've tried Pinnacle's Dazzle DVD 9.0, Roxio Media Creater 7.0 and, now Sonic's myDVD Deluxe Edition. Pinnacle's (and this is my opinion) is utter crap. Not once could it correctly calculate how large my project was in comparison to the DVD. I was getting all sorts of read errors even when it told me I had over 50% left on the DVD. This was using the "fit to video" selection too, which was really too bad because I found the editting interface extremely easy to use and navigate. Their website is poor and, so is their support. I moved onto Roxio and, didn't have much luck either. I'm writing it off as an installation problem though. For some reason it would crash everytime I tried to open the DVD Creator portion. Then it would just stop attempting to open all together. I've had problems with Roxio on past PC's so, I have a low tolerence with the software. I'm now onto to Sonic's myDVD Deluxe Edition. Humorously, Roxio is made by Sonic, and I've had no problems with myDVD DE. The editing interface is OK. I liked Pinnacle's better but, after a little messing with it for a little while, I found it pretty straight forward. More importantly, I've had no problems writing to DVDs with it. I'd give Sonic's myDVD Deluxe Edition a whirl. Roxio Media Creator 8.0 was just released and got reviews as well. Their both similiar.

Attn Robb or Ellisa: Videotaping DLP
mcjaco replied to CoasterBill04's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
We've never had problems taping any of the dark rides, it's the show type ones that they can get pretty ornary about. Most of our tapes came way back in the 80's (so I can relive my clothing faux pas all over again) when we literally had to carry the tape deck over your shoulder and, the camera was just as big. Trying to do a POV video with one of those on BTM or SM would have been insane. -
My wife told me to swing in and get something we hadn't tried before. After a little searching something caught my eye......Leinenkugel's Big Butt! Surely she'll enjoy this. I must say, a impulse buy that was quite tasty.

mcjaco replied to CoasterBill04's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I think it really only applies to the shows (animatronic, dark ride, etc.) and anything like the movies they have (Soarin', any of the World Showcase movies). Those technically are all copyrighted, thus videotaping would violate the copyright. The problem is that they don't know what the videographer is going to do with them; is it for home entertainment or, are they going to sell the tapes? Again, violating the copyright. Second, flash photgraphy is just a major annoyance to the enjoyment of the other people on the ride and/or show. We've got video of Spaceship Earth, Journey into Imagination (all three versions), the minute the camera came out for American Adventure, they we're all over my Dad. Of course, that was a few weeks into EPCOT's opening, they may be more lax now. All though they still do warn not to film. -
Isn't videotaping the shows/movies illegal???? My Dad got severely reprimanded for videotaping part of the American Adventure years ago. They almost took the tape away from him.

Eric, you really must stop posting all these Disney photo reviews....I'm not going until October and you're killing me!
