Interesting results, crazy to see how close Outlaw Run and El Toro were. Definitely want to ride both of them someday. I already knew Goldstriker would be the best in California, but it placed surprisingly high. Like others have said though, GCI's have tended to drop considerably over the years. Still want to ride it whenever I get a chance to go north though .

Adventure City getting new coaster for 2013?
Nyteowl replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Drove by the park today on my way home from work. Coaster is completely down, but it was too dark to see if there was any materials on site for anything else. I'll try to get a picture tomorrow if I have time before work. -
For the local high schools, and high schools up in the Antelope Valley, this is a no-brainer. Bakersfield up through Fresno would probably be interested. My high school that's 10 minutes away from SFMM actually CANCELLED our Grad Night because they weren't paying for Disneyland, and nobody cared about the dopey faux-casino night the school proposed, especially with the stern warning of not walking in graduation if you screwed up. Too bad SFMM wasn't doing Grad Nites then. I would have absolutely picked SFMM for Grad Nite over no Grad Nite at all. It was actually quite hilarious how my grad night played out last year. My high school is roughly an hour drive from Disneyland with no traffic, so not too far. However, I already had an Annual Pass and went to Disneyland regularly so I felt kinda stupid paying extra to go to grad nite. But all my friends were going and wanted me to go so "what the heck, why not?" I thought. Unfortunately, the school administration planned the grad night the same night of graduation and the bus left about an hour and a half after the ceremony ended. My grandparents were in attendance so our dinner plans basically consisted of us going to a local quick service place, me scarfing down my food, saying "nice to see you", and then heading back to school to leave. I felt really bad, but luckily my grandparents live locally so I can see them often. By the time we got to Disneyland there wasn't much time left, so all we really did was ride RSR, California Screamin, and Tower of Terror, and that was about it. I know grad nite isn't about the rides, but the way it was planned didn't benefit anyone in the end. Still was an ok last hang with my high school friends though.

Agreed. The maintenance department at Knott's is solid. Whenever I open in the morning, it's always nice to chat with the maintenance people. They're hard working and just fun to be around and always take our suggestions. For example, if we leave a note saying that a certain restraint is getting stuck every time, it'll be fixed the next time I'm there. But still, I am a huge supporter of the topper track solution as having to go down 4 times a year for maintenance is no fun. The ride, while not completely un rideable, could definitely use the help.

In regards to that, they are required by law to show that video since its a safety video that opened with the ride. If any of the TVs aren't displaying the video or the DVD player breaks, then the ride cannot run until it is fixed. Is that a california-only law? I feel like i've been to other parks that sometimes have had their tv screens turned off. No. *BUT*, it would depend upon what is written into the SOP for the ride. So if for some reason Knott's wrote that into the SOP as being a required feature, than yes they will always have to go down for it. Haven't operated or read the SOP for Xcel, but at Ghost it's written in ours that the video must be playing.

Sorry to hear you had a disappointing day. Xcel was down for most of the day for cable replacement, but went back up later in the day. It was quite the busy day for us at Ghost, our line was all the way to the cave for most of the day and we were getting Handicap passes nonstop. Not looking forward to the coming days of holiday crowds, but the awesome crew I work with should make it manageable .

Nyteowl replied to ILoveRides's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Great Coverage as always! Glad you enjoyed it and it looks like the Farm has a lot to offer this year. The park definitely has a different vibe while working it during the holidays. -
ChrisHanKwanSivus Gift Exchange 2013!

Gift is sent out, hope my person enjoys it! Anxious to see what I receive . -
I saw KK use them in 2005 (opening year). Didn't see it last year when we were back there. People also seem to forger that X2 also has separate load/unload stations that are never used. Yeah I noticed that too. I remember when I came back after riding it around opening, I thought "Wait, didn't you used to get off here?"

Only ridden Ravine Flyer II and it's currently in my number one spot for wood. -
Just some quick news, no pictures. A crane has been positioned in Fiesta Village to take down Windseeker next to the Merry Go Round. The Red hats are in the process of being put back on Hat Dance, with one installed today. The other two are being assembled behind Dragon Swing, so that'll help with the rides capacity. Haven't heard anything about the CS renovation other than rumors of Snoopy Bounce, Great Sk8, and Log peeler being removed, and a Vekoma Family Suspended possibly coming.
