  1. Mindbender at SFOG. Excellent ride. What's this? A visual representation?!?
  2. That's what they said at SFOG in 2005. But then popped up a sprawling B&M hyper in 2006. The point is is that a park will make room if they really think a new ride will do them good.
  3. People shouldn't complain; would they rather spend that much more time in line?
  4. The possibility of seeing another B&M launched coaster in park announcements toward the end of the operating season. It is really nice to se B&M expanding and now they certainly have more options.
  5. Hey does anyone know about how crowded IOA is going to be this weekend? Feb. 15-18
  6. Does anyone know which coaster this is? Feel free to PM me. It was featured on the Yahoo news slider.
  7. We've been getting quite a bit of rain down here lately-that has probably been slowing things down a lot.
  8. The launch on Incredible Hulk was not done by B&M. I wonder how many times people are going to have to say that in this thread for people to understand it. Yes, that is true; I didn't overlook that, though. It is still a launched, B&M coaster. It couldn't be a launch and a coaster, they can't be separate entities because saying the coaster isn't launched (because the launch system is made by another person) would mean that it has to have a chain lift.
  9. The Incredible Hulk at IOA? I am missing something? Do we just not consider that a launched coaster? Parks still operate Impulse coasters, and those use more energy than any type of coaster in existence, probably twice as much as LSM coasters. See, the thing about an impulse coaster is that they have no choice but to use the huge, high energy consuming magnets for a launch because the cable and catch car wouldn't be able to reset in time, let alone operate in two different directions.
  10. This is actually very interesting. It's neat to see B&M really expanding. They had Levaithan going for them last season, now we could be seeing a bunch of launched B&Ms. In the quote, Mr. Bollinger said the LSMs were very efficient, but I always though that not to be the case. A flywheel and small motor would seem like the most efficient (in terms of energy usage) of any kind of launch system. The only reason I'm concerned is because using a lot of energy to launch a coaster would make is seem like a ride the park would more readily shut down for any number of reasons, since it costs a good amount to operate.
  11. That sounds pretty good, but I think the people jumping up and down in the seats are entertaining themselves and I don't think it's that they don't know what to do. I have never been on Riddler's Revenge, but I have been on a few other B&M stand ups. Vortex at Carowinds has really strong springs in their seats, so it is really hard to push them down and I have never seen anyone playing with the seats. But the one thing that does hold everything up is that they lock the seats and then when the attendants walk around to check the seats, they make sure everyone is sanding and with closed toe shoes on. If you don't meet either of those requirements, they have to unlock the whole row and the process starts over again. Most people don't want to stand and instead want to squat or ride without their feet touching the floor, so usually most of the rows have to be unlocked and reset. That's why it takes almost 5 minutes to dispatch a train on Vortex.
  12. It's too bad that people will always believe that what they think is right and there is absolutely nothing anyone can do about it. The people who think that Riddler's Revenge is really Riders Revenge are the kind of people that are completely unacceptable of other ideas. Even if those ideas are more right than the ones they have right now.
  13. This one is much newer than the one I posted earlier. It is for a form of queuing system. This is just a close-up of the table on the previous page.
  14. Usually I'm pretty comfortable on most rides, but the Windseekers make me feel uneasy and scares the crap out of me. I can't imagine going another 100 or so feet.
  15. Unfortunatly, SFoG has not released their 2013 schedule yet (have no idea what is taking them so long). Normally the first weekend they are open Saturday and Sunday then will shut down until next weekend (they will though likely be open the whole week of spring break in early April) They released the date for opening day; Saturday, March 16, so yes they will be open on the 17th.
  16. This isn't being talked about TODAY, but what I found was pretty interesting; it's patents submitted by B&M for the inverted coaster. As you view them, imagine if this information got out before B&M was able to build Batman at Six Flags Great America.
  17. Definitely Mindbender. Oh! Look at that! A picture too!
  18. I would say the Hulk at IOA. 1) Good array of elements. 2) Set on the water (nice scenery) 3) Launch is exciting. 4) Direction changes in the middle of the ride surprise and catch you off guard. 5) Fairly long. How about a picture? Yeah! Why not?
  19. That actually sounds like a lot of fun; I'm going to try that next time for sure. Oh yeah and by the way, just because the name of the ride is Scream! doesn't mean that you have to.
  20. I would say this is a pretty reasonable answer that I can agree with. I really like it on the TPR trips when it's almost silent on the rides... That's nice.
  21. I'm going to Carowinds in one of the first few weeks they're open-I can take some pictures of the new dinosaurs and come back with a trip report.
  22. I heard that Superman at SFMM has somewhere like 7 seconds of airtime at the apex of the climb. Which is amazing because it's quite a lot for one occurrence during the ride. I think that Intimidator at Carowinds has some pretty good airtime on just about every hill. If they didn't trim it it would be that much better.
  23. Here are a few that I found. I snipped them instead of just putting it in a quote-I think it looks better. The first two are about Six Flags Over Georgia, the third is from Six Flags Magic Mountain. "The Fun Fact" The "I Will Never Bow Down" Monster Plantation lover This one was a comment on a photo of Batman. The "Coaster Enthusiast Poser", who is also wrong.
  24. I have a few more like that if you're interested.
  25. That sounds fairly reasonable. What was your source? I want to check it out too!
