Do you like to gamble Bert? I know it's not everyone's cup of tea, but St Pete has the oldest dog racing tracks in the world, http://www.derbylane.com/. Even if you're not into betting on the races, it's a very cool place; they have a 'Big Band' (Glen Miller type music) in the infield that plays between races and it's relatively cheap to get into the clubhouse which has decent food and nice bars. They also have a poker room. It's a unique and relatively inexpensive evening out. You might also check out St. Johns Pass north of St. Pete. It's a fishing village with decent bars and restaurants and gambling cruises. Hope this is helpful. -

Great TR as usual Chuck! Just curious, were the one food and one beer items at each booth all they offered, or did they have more options? -

Very interesting TR; thanks so much for taking the time to post it. I haven't been to Vegas since the mid-90's. Such a different place in so many ways. -

Sorry to hear your balls got 'mummified' Erik, but great to see you and Smisty alive and well and still pounding the mini-golf. Great TR as usual; don't be such strangers! -

I think Dolly owes Guy big-time. . . like 'motor-boating ERT' big-time. Sent from my brandy and cigarette ash crusted Wal Mart keyboard. -
I would give that f%$#@ing seagull a 8 out of 10.

That - would be - awesome! And totally scaring the children/gp, too! Damn! If that indeed is what's happening, I am actually interested in how they "re-install" a new "driver" in the vehicle, before it picks up another bunch of poor, unsuspecting souls? Manually (what a boring job that would be), or electronically? Hey Bill! I mostly lurk and always enjoy your posts. Antway, it would be cool. . . here's the original rumor from 'Screamscape' I saw a year and a half ago: "Speaking of Kong's arms... one of the oddest and oldest rumors I ever heard about this attraction involved Kong's arms. I have no idea if this rumor is still true or not, as I can see how easily this would be nixed from the attraction simply for safety concerns, but try to envision a finale like this. Your off-road safari truck (likely a topless truck for the best viewing) would feature a female driver who, like the old Jaws and Kongfrontation attractions, would also serve as the narrator for your journey. The tech involved here would have to be flawless to make this work, but the ancient rumor pitched the concept of having the finale Kong figure being able to reach out and GRAB your driver from the truck and run off and turn to run off with her. Your truck would then roll slowly to a stop in the next room, where crew members would meet up and evacuate you out of the temple, and then send the empty truck on to the loading room for the next group of guests. I'm just not quite sure how this would work, but it certainly would be an amazing finale unlike any other if Universal was able to pull this off. Anyway... with 2015 now under way, the latest whispers suggest that they may finally be ready to make the big announcement about what this attraction really is over the next month or two, so stay tuned!" Seeing the ride may not have 'real' drivers made me recall this. . . we'll see.

Just saw this at savetherod.org "Great news! After posting one inquiry at DW's Facebook page and not getting an answer, I was contacted by the ride's secret owner, and after several minutes of negotiation, I can now announce: Harold and I are the new owners of Lightning Rod!!! I can't release all the secret details (and I'm re-taking the Calculus class I flunked 5 tines before so I won't have time to answer any questions) but I can share the e-mail I received from the former owner confirming Harold and I are now in charge of the project. "Ya you, all bank numbers have in my possession now. My rod is yours too day. . . .Prince Desmond" Harold now lives in the Sahara Desert, but things are moving fast. I've never been to Dollywood or Arkansas, but this coaster has a special place in my heart. As soon as I can get some donations and pay the rent on my trailer, I'm heading that way and will get that coaster going!! I have the 'donate' button up; will try and get the website up later. Luv. . Wow, I haven't been in LAX since 1977. .. and the biggest hassle then were the "moonies". The "rape tunnel" sure makes that seem like a minor problem now.. . Looking forward to more pics of your trip .. . and KT is beyond precious.
