  1. To the OP; Any chance you might you have suffered a concussion during the period before the rides started bothering you? If it were me, I'd get checked out by a doctor before doing anything could slam by head around: your symptoms could be a number of things but as an ex-boxer I can tell you it could be a concussion. Good luck with it.. .
  2. Condolences to the both of you for the loss of your friend.
  3. So wait. . this "Cheetah Hunt" is actually some sort of roller coaster and not an actual opportunity to hunt cheetahs ??? Sarah Palin is going to be so bummed out. .
  4. "Big-ass Wood Spider" would be an awesome name for a wood coaster.
  5. Nice pics of a great theme park. Thanks for sharing them.
  6. Thanks guys. . I certainly remember the mining for gold place. . you had to walk down in a hole to do it. And we ate at the chicken place numerous times. . those little biscuits with boysenberry jam were awesome. Anyways, the volcano memory just isn't there for me, but it's nice to connect with you guys who remember what it was like back in the day. . . still one of those great childhood places I'll always have fond memories of.
  7. Personally, I've never felt ripped off paying the admission price at WDW (or Universal or the Bush parks for that matter). The food, beverage, and souvenir prices at (most) times are a different story.
  8. I'm 50 and I honestly can't remember which was the first coaster I rode, but I know it was one of 3. . . 1) Matterhorn at DL 2) Wild Maus at the Nu Pike in Long Beach, CA. 3) The big coaster at the Pike we always called "The Decapitator" because someone did get their head chopped off on it, but I think it was really called the Cyclone. Definitely went on all 3, just can't remember which one was first.
  9. Well, Barry and I were mods on the same web site a long time ago and yeah, although we never actually met, I considered him a friend. (We were supposed to meet up at IOA one time but I couldn't make it and it was on me and it's not an interesting enough story to tell here. . .) But I always liked Barry. . . although seeing his name and "restraining order" in the same sentence here is not the least bit shocking. Looking forward to the next installment of your TR Erik. . keep up the excellent work!
  10. I'm not doubting you guy's memory at all. . I just for the life of me don't remember the volcano thing. . where in the park was it? I do remember the antique car ride. . gas engines and no track ruled. Oh, and the drinking thing was sarcasm... seeing Rick Nelson and BJ Thomas at the time was actually pretty cool.
  11. "Old Drunk Woman Falling Off Tortoise" Newest DCA "fastpass". . .
  12. I was born in 1960 and my grandfather used to take my brother and I there every Sunday when I was a kid. There was the train, the stage coach, the mine ride, the Haunted Shack, a chapel next to a lake, a petting farm with a seal tank in front (where you could buy fish and feed them) and a merry-go-round. And Independence Hall across the street. And it was free to get in, and we loved it! Then they stated charging and put in the John Wayne Theatre with shows by Rick Nelson and BJ Thomas and some bizarre dark ride with bears. . I blame my current drinking problem on Knotts, but I still love it all the same.
  13. "Monkey Hole" is my new favorite saying. . .
  14. The monorail from the TTC to the MK. Just magical, and you can stop and drink at the Poly and the GF on the way. . .
  15. Okay, I found this site from a link on Screamscape and have spent the last few weeks lurking and reading.. . and I can't tell you how much enjoyment I've gotten from various TR's and threads I've read. All have been informative and entertaining with Chuck's, Hectors', and of course Robb's standing out (haven't read even a small percentage of everything here so no one should take that as a dis) . . . but I finally decided to register and post just to say how much I've enjoyed the Eric and Misty threads. You guys do the stuff I always had to pass by or didn't have time for or couldn't afford. . and it's just epic. Thank you both for such wonderful TR's. Oh, and I see my old buddy Barry H. posts here. . so hi Barry.
