  1. Finally! I've been dying to see a POV. Looks awesome!
  2. One thing that the Golden Ticket Awards suggest is that the voters prefer a "stuffed-full-of-awesome-coasters-and-thrill-rides" park experience over a "immerse-you-another-world-with-highly-detailed-theming" experience. I don't necessarily see anything wrong with that, and they're pretty different experiences so it's sort of hard to compare. I think most enthusiasts probably lean one way or the other. Anyway, all I'm saying is that the repeated result of Cedar Point beating out less "thrilling" parks that have elaborate theming which completely immerses you shows that more Golden Ticket voters are fans of thrill over other factors, which I think its perfectly valid. Their taste in coasters, however, seems pretty questionable lol.
  3. Have you seen their Facebook page? In the days leading up to the announcement, the page was abuzz with GP speculating about what the announcement might be. Then once the announcement was made, the page was blown up with hundreds of complaints, gripes, insults, etc. In all fairness, the facebook-fan demographic is probably outnumbered by the silent majority of parents with kids who will be thrilled by the announcement. But I do think they could have maybe made their little teasers a little more obvious so they could have avoided the slight embarrassment of their Facebook page being blown up by complainers for a few days. All in all, it's not really a big deal, and its certainly being blown out of proportion. I sort of think it's a wiser move for the parks to go with a "timeless" brand like Peanuts or Looney Tunes. Whether or not the new Looney Tunes are any good, kids today still identify with those characters. Look at all the "trendy" kids franchises Six Flags has gone through. Bob the Builder, the Wiggles, Thomas Town.... to me, it seems like it makes more sense to go with something kids like and have always liked, as well as something that is nostalgic for the parents and won't have to be renamed, repainted and rethemed in a few years when it becomes completely irrelevant. Just my two cents!
  4. ^I agree. I think it's a great announcement. I just think the park could be a little more careful with how they word their teaser so their facebook page doesn't get swamped with complaints and insults from the GP when they actually make the announcement. Lol.
  5. I'm 99.999999% sure that never happened and couldn't possibly happen. Except for maybe on a screwy Mr.Freeze recreation on No Limits.
  6. ^That's what it looked like to me as well.
  7. I really like that idea, and I could actually see it as plausible. The whole Zombie/Apocalypse thing is really big right now anyway. And another plus is that Six Flags could let the theming get a little run down and it wouldn't matter because that's what it's supposed to look like. That gave me another crazy idea. Has anyone heard of the Zombie Apocalypse obstacle course? It's this traveling thing that toured around several U.S. cities where you could buy a ticket and participate, or volunteer to be a "Zombie". It was this long obstacle course through the woods with live actors (Zombies) pursuing you as you traverse the course. At the end was a big concert. I could see a smaller-scale version of this being implemented as an upcharge in amusement parks. It could be Six Flags' answer to Dinosaurs Alive! It would be pretty cheap to pull off, too. The biggest expense would be to pay the Zombies.
  8. I wouldn't be upset if in a few seasons, they turn one of the trains back to forwards and offer a choice.
  9. If, by any chance, they were moving PP to another park, that could explain why they would be dismantling this in a hurry. Even if they aren't hurrying to clear the way for something big and new in 2013, they might be trying to move it and install it somewhere else in 2013. I still really think it would be a good addition at Michigan's Adventure.
  10. Six Flags Mexico released a teaser video for The Joker (formerly SFDK's Pandemonium). It looks like they're planning some really nice theming! (Or "decoration" as some would prefer to call it.) Good step in the right direction for Six Flags if you ask me.
  11. Douchy or not, I kind of agree that the explanation with the chaser lights wasn't very well explained. I didn't quite get the difference he was describing between LIM and LSM. The simple graphic made sense to me, but apparently that's all wrong. Bummer!
  12. ^^That's kind of a bummer. It could be a cool new headline attraction at a much smaller park like Michigan's Adventure or something. They could have thrown in the boomerang too and made it a package deal. Oh well.
  13. I'm extremely frugal. I still just don't make enough enough money to be able to afford those kind of trips. Sigh :/
  14. This is a little off topic, but jeez it seems like a lot of folks here on TPR just have piles of money laying around...
  15. From the news release, this show seems like it will be pretty cool. Kinda reminds me of O at the Bellagio with Dolphins (not that I ave any delusion that it will be near the quality of O). I think it sounds like a good addition!
  16. I like Judge Roy Scream. I don't LOVE it, but I like it a lot. I ride it a few times during each park visit. It's a tad bumpy, and they could certainly show it some love, but it doesn't hurt. Families love it, and it's sort of a park icon. It looks beautiful as you drive into the parking lot, and when you leave for the day. It does sit on a prime piece of real estate which certainly could accommodate any large modern giant coaster the park wanted, but the day they do that, I will be very sad. Not because I don't love a big new thrill machine, but because that will be the day that all unique charm and special, not-Six Flagsy atmosphere that makes SFOT such a stand-out in the chain will start to really disappear. Just my opinion.
  17. ^^ I agree with you on some of those, but some of them I think would benefit more from simple topper track replacement jobs. I think Colossus, Boss, Mean Streak, Le Monstre, and dare I say it?.... Beast would all be good candidates for Iron Horse.
  18. In response to the "hatemongers" comment... All the metropolitan areas in Texas (Houston, Dallas, Austin, San Antonio) are pretty liberal and progressive. If you are in any of those places, you'll be (mostly) surrounded by other forward thinking folks Although, I will say, I have no plans to consider moving back to Texas (unless marriage equality is passed, which is something Texas won't ever likely do on its own). But it's certainly a good state for coasters!
  19. OR...OR..... Outlaw Run? Oh my god! How are we going to distinguish between Outlaw Run and Orphan Rocker?!?
  20. Maybe they're planning on burying Neil Armstrong inside King's Dominion? Or better yet, cryogenically freezing him in a glass case for everyone to look at while waiting in line for Flight of Fear! The world record for Most Tasteless Use of a Dead Astronaut's Corpse.
  21. If I were to really complain about anything, it's the white paint scheme. I'm sure it will look nice at first, but why would they set themselves up for having something that looks like crap in a year or two? Surely even Six Flags has to realize that they aren't too great with keeping fresh coats of paint on their coasters.
  22. I LOVE when people feel the need to add "the" in front of a coaster's name. The Batman? The Mr. Freeze? LOL!
