More SyFy Movie Chat!
LoneRider92 replied to SharkTums's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Why am I always working when these SyFy movies are on?!? I will catch one and be part of the chat even if I have to battle flaming tennis balls and dinosharks and other bad-animated creatures. -
It looks so weird not surrounded by trees. I hope you guys out on the East Coast enjoy it. Was it the smoothest ride? No, but I NEVER found it to be as brain-shatteringly rough as people complained. I also thought Mean Streak wasn't as crappy as I was expecting, so maybe I have a slightly higher tolerance of pain (still was pretty lackluster though).

Hersheypark (HP) Discussion Thread
LoneRider92 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Short? Yes. But mmm, Intamin ejector air and forces... Hopefully this trip to Hershey happens for me this summer. Skyrush and Fahrenheit and StormRunner and Lightning Racer, not to mention a little Schwarzkopf love... -
SFNE Goliath Opening Day - Photo TR

Aww man, now I miss Deja Vu all over again. Yes, they can be temperamental, and having one just down the path from a Boomerang requires logic only Six Flags understands (or not), but I still think they are awesome rides. And at Great America, they seemed to have had their Vu up and running consistently in it's final season (from what I remember). It was my first and last rides of that season... -
Batman I can definitely see. At Great America on those hot and muggy days, waiting inside the sewer portion can be almost unbearable. I couldn't even imagine waiting in a line for a half hour or so on a triple-digit day in St. Louis. I'm still kind of peeved that all the Premier launchers were still down when I visited St. Louis a couple of years ago. I need to get back out there and get my Mr. Freeze credit (hopefully on a day where you won't spontaneously combust).

I know a lot of people hate Skrillex (and I mean *HATE* him), but since I heard his works for the first time last fall, I've been hooked. I thought I read somewhere that Voltage was supposed to come out on April 23rd, but that came and went with no album release (Make It Bun Dem might have been a taste though). Anyone know anything about a possible release date? I check back on the youtube channel every day like a loser and there's still nothing.

Best Compact Coasters
LoneRider92 replied to pgathriller's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'm sure one person's definition of 'compact' is different than another person's, but for me (and there will be those out there who think I'm crazy), Deja Vu was one heck of an awesome ride. Big, fast, intense, and always a rush. Also, Avalanche (what I'll always call it) at Timber Falls is a totally crazy and awesome ride for such a small footprint. If I ever was able to make it over there, however, I'd say Twister at Grona Lund looks ridiculous. -
Aww man, I was hoping that Green Lantern would turn out awesome so that they might start appearing in other parks (one preferably nearby to me). However, with Magic Mountain having so much trouble running this one, I see that possibility growing less and less likely. So disappointing, ZacSpins look like such unique and wild rides. Holding out hope though.

Well, my first relationship in my 20 years of existence is over. Turns out it doesn't work very well when you're studying for engineering and spend most of your time at school and doing schoolwork and she is working nearly every day. To be honest, she had so many problems and was such a needy person, it's almost a relief to be alone again. She was very nice and she liked me and I liked her, but we figured it was best to end it before I left to study in Platteville and we tried to do a long-distance relationship. My name is relevant again!

Vengeance - Knex Coaster
LoneRider92 replied to Commando's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
It's projects like this that make me wish I had enough space and time to get construction sets such as this and go to town. I applaud you on a great design and excellent execution. It looks great! Very well done! -

Oooh, I was hoping some park would get those awesome light-up wheels for their ride! A nice looking place. I always enjoy seeing what different vibes parks in other countries have from the parks here in America. Now I'm hoping other companies are able to use the wheel-light technology and put them on their rides. In the right parks and on the right rides, it would look so amazing! -
I got the Hunger Games primarily because my sister absolutely refused to even touch the book and I wanted to drive her nuts (she's a Twilight and Harry Potter fanatic). I didn't expect to enjoy the book too much, but I actually did. Good, violent action, vivid and entertaining characters, and just an overall fun read. The book does plunge you into the story without too much back story, so some details took me a little bit to grasp, but it was original and engrossing. I'm still debating whether or not I want to finish the trilogy. To anybody who has read all three books, are the second two any good compared to the first?

When I originally heard that they were coming out with a Three Stooges movie, I was very worried. The main thought I had was "how badly would Hollywood screw up one of the better slapstick comedies ever?" The previews looked somewhat promising, however, and I was curious to see how the movie carried a 1930's comedy into the present day, so on opening night me and two friends went to see it. I'm very glad I did. It was a satisfyingly funny movie that had us laughing pretty darn hard at times. Of course, being Hollywood-ized there were attempts to create some drama, but the movie was at it's best when it was pure old-style slapstick hilarity. It even had numerous tie-ins to the original show which were very nice to see. It was definitely a great way to spend an evening. However, I have noticed that some PG-rated elements are starting to push my perception of what's appropriate for younger children. Now, I'm not a person who abhors violence or risque things (I love it ), but there a couple times during the movie me and my friends looked at each other and went "Wow, PG was a lot different when we were youngsters... " I still advise you to go and give it a chance. We were still laughing about it for a while afterwards. And, not trying to give too much away, it has the only version of Jersey Shore I would ever watch. That was awesome!

I'm going a *little* more old school with Copaface2 by Sonny Moore. Sounds pretty good!

Tim Tebow traded to the Jets along with a 7th round pick. Broncos get 4th and 6th round picks. Let the never-ending mediapocalypse begin. Oh, and Sean Payton is suspended for 1 year. Saints lose 2nd round picks and $500,000 from the checkbook. That's pretty big news. Too bad all we'll be hearing is Tebow-manina for the next ETERNITY. -
Spring break is over, classes are strangling me to death, 12 hour school day, and not a wink of sleep last night.

Looks pretty awesome so far. I'm curious as to what they are going to do with the railroad. Were they going to reroute it or keep it on the same path right under the ride? My best bet would be that they rebuild the track around the last turn to avoid any sort of problems. Then again, there seems to be a good amount of space between the transfer track and the ground, while the clearance between X-Flight and Demon seems pretty small.

I'm guessing more than a few people's brackets took a fatal hit today. I got out of it with some damage, but I'm still truckin' on! What an awesome day for basketball fans. -

The Control Panel Enthusiast Thread
LoneRider92 replied to Montu Maniac's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I was curious to see how long it would take a topic like this to appear. Something I always wondered was about the complexity (the amount of knobs and gadgets) of individual ride panels. As I have yet to get a job at a theme park and operate any rides, I was wondering what types of rides had very complicated panels with controls for anything imaginable and which types of rides required a fairly clean and simple panel. I can imagine coasters way back in the day that required the manual handbrake didn't have very complex control panels, if any at all. -

Happy birthday Mom! 14 and counting! (How many guys can say that they are technicaly older than their mother?) -
Dubstep is something that I consider an "acquired taste". The first time you hear it, you may not get it and end up disliking it. After listening a little more, you start to notice things you didn't in the music before and listen to another variety. After a while, you'll end up loving it (like me). My friends agree; the first time they heard it, they thought "What the heck is this crap?" After listening again they started to notice things that they like. Now they are hooked. I think the key is the type you listen to; some dubstep is "lighter" and is a better start than something "heavier". My first dubstep song was Get Up by Korn and Skrillex. It's more rock focused with dubstep mixed in. A heavier song would be something like Machine Gun (16 Bit Remix) by Noisia. It might be too much for someone who is just experiencing it for the first time. Also, chock up one Skrillex fan. I know *everyone* seems to hate his guts for how he does it, but the way I figure, it sounds awesome, so I don't really care what genre it is. (And I do listen to other artists as well, he's just my favorite) Everyone's entitled to their own taste in music, there is no 'right' or 'wrong'.

While watching an anime where the protagonist is granted a single wish (leading to one supremely entertaining show), I was curious to see what the members of TPR would have wished for. Would you use the wish on yourself? Would you use it to help the world? Or something completely different? (And come on, most of us would want to wish for more wishes, so don't everybody say 'More wishes!') Choose wisely, you only get one shot!
