  1. Your right I may be over looking how well Canada's Wonderland is actually doing. I've been comparing Kings Islands web cams to attendance at Canada's Wonderland and you can tell how much busier we are this season then them.
  2. That's not what I am saying at all.... Just notice how they are spending very lightly on additions. There's a reason
  3. http://www.cbc.ca/news/business/canadian-dollar-drops-to-lowest-level-since-2004-1.3163316 Incorrect our dollar hasn't been this bad since 2004
  4. Absolutely untrue. A low Canadian dollar is the key to success for the Canadian Manufacturing industry. As anyone remotely connected to it knows that it could use every bit of help available. I'm more so talking about the resturaunt and clothing businesses right now.. They are worried trust me
  5. I work in business management and studied it, and let me tell you EVERY Canadian business right now is freaking the F out.
  6. Well they are talking about small exchange rate problems they aren't talking about a pre recession dollar drop.
  7. Basically Cedar Fair has a procedure in place which prevents them from being impacted heavily by the dollar exchange rates. They swap money around to earn any losses back and do anything they can LEGALLY by a certain law to ensure they aren't losing money in their Canadian operations. They also do so when purchasing products and investments for their Canadian property, meaning they just either pay American or Canadian at the time of purchase depending on which dollar is stronger.
  8. Here's How Cedar Fair avoids a poor Canadian Dollar in currency swap Quantitative and Qualitative Disclosures about Market Risk We are exposed to market risks from fluctuations in interest rates, and to a lesser extent on currency exchange rates on our operations in Canada and, from time to time, on imported rides and equipment. The objective of our financial risk management is to reduce the potential negative impact of interest rate and foreign currency exchange rate fluctuations to acceptable levels. We do not acquire market risk sensitive instruments for trading purposes. We manage interest rate risk through the use of a combination of interest rate swaps, which fix a portion of our variable-rate longterm debt, and variable-rate borrowings under our revolving credit loans. We mitigate a portion of our foreign currency exposure from the Canadian dollar through the use of foreign-currency denominated debt. Hedging of the U.S. dollar denominated debt, used to fund a substantial portion of our net investment in our Canadian operations, is accomplished through the use of cross currency swaps. Any gain or loss on the effective hedging instrument primarily offsets the gain or loss on the underlying debt. Translation exposures with regard to our Canadian operations are not hedged. For derivative instruments that are designated and qualify as cash flow hedges under FASB ASC 815, the effective portion of the change in fair value of the derivative instrument is reported as a component of “Other comprehensive income (loss)” and reclassified into earnings in the period during which the hedged transaction affects earnings. Changes in fair value of derivative instruments that do not qualify as effective hedging activities under FASB ASC 815 are reported as “Net change in fair value of swaps” in the consolidated statement of operations. Additionally, the “Other comprehensive income (loss)” related to interest rate swaps that become ineffective is amortized over the remaining life of the interest rate swap, and reported as a component of “Net change in fair value of swaps” in the consolidated statement of operations. After considering the impact of interest rate swap agreements, at December 31, 2009, $1,207.2 million of our outstanding long-term
  9. Always judge when you get there but if it's sunny buy fast passes this park is very busy lately due to the Pan American Games
  10. I bet Canada's Wonderland is going to be Cedar Fairs golden child after this year as the park is going to break 4 million visitors easily due to the Pan American Games taking place surrounding the park. A few things to note; 1. Wonder Mountains Guardian is operating at the fastest I have ever seen it the minute one train enters the mountain another one is going up the lift hill. :0 Never thought I'd see the day! 2. The park is swamped, like literally cray cray busy, and I keep saying it but expect to see the park hit over 4 million visitors this season! 3. The change rooms, Timber Wolf Falls and White Water Canyon are all working just fine despite the construction in that area near Skyrider which is very interesting. I was a doubting man thinking it was the change rooms/ washrooms but they are open and functioning... 4. I asked a construction worker today why the path was blocked cause I'm an annoying fanboy and that's what I do best and he said "nothing" "were just going to leave it like this" and giggled which made me laugh and walk away in embarrasement hehe The customer service at this park is really amazing I saw a games person hand out a small plushie to a lil kid today and the reaction from that family was priceless, I see Matt Ouimet written all over the park now and it's beyond impressive coming from a business manager myself I can tell there's improvement from corner to corner! Found a video which backs my saying Matt Ouimet is turning Canada's Wonderland into a disneyland type project, you can really feel it and see it in our investments. For gods sake the mountains water falls are all functioning again! Again these large groups from South America are driving attendance at the park! All the que lines at the park are over flowing on any sunny day and the waterslides are packed! Wave pool you can't even see water lol Interesting they are doing a lot of water work around that area, yet all the water is working.... There is another white veichle in the smoking area under Timberwolf Falls that you can't see. I asked one of the construction workers why the path was closed and he said "nothing" "were just going to leave it like this"
  11. you sir built a beautiful coaster, ignore the hater about the logo he's just jelous cause is NL2 coasters look like Cedar Fair Wooden coasters wobbly and dismembered.
  12. There are orange markers. They are only visible from the blocked off path unless they've been removed since it was blocked off. I never said they were new, I'm just trying to help people keep up with what's going on. Also, the dollar was almost as crappy in 2006-2007 when Behemoth was being planned. It was around $.85 compared to $.80 today, and cedar fair had just taken on the debt load of 6 parks. None of us are economists so I think it's difficult to make accurate predictions on what Cedar Fair is planning to do based on the economy. you posted that there were more orange markers and that's false, there are still a very small amount of metal poles tipped with orange paint that have been there the whole season so far.
  13. It's hard to say, you have to remember Canada's Wonderland target audience is a family park. Investing in two large coasters was probably the first step for the park. I see Matt Ouimet turning Canada's Wonderland into somewhat of Disneyland, you always hear him in interviews saying how gorgeous and how much potential Canada's Wonderland has. We got our two new coasters we never thought we'd see and now were spoiled children and are like ugh wheres our next B&M cause there's supposedly a 5 year coaster plan. With the numbers I am seeing on a constant basis this season since I live 15 minutes away and go a lot, YES we will see large coasters again, I mean let's be honest we are or were their testing ground. I don't think you noticed something that they did this year but Shannon Kelly even tweeted a picture of the update gardens at front entrance. From front gate all the way to the mountain the park really looks and smells beautiful! They have their best line up of shows and festivals ever and they built a cheap but fulfilling water slide! Guess what that alone worked and from a business aspect if they can invest in small things like that and pull record numbers then why spend 30 million? The people that are saying park isn't bringing in a lot of people so it won't get a coaster... That's simply not true it's all about your target audience, demand and will that investment bring you success. Thats what the company looks at, the coaster wars are over and your going to see less coasters being built just look at Six Flags their building Larson Loopers for gods sake, atleast be happy were getting nice refreshing investments... Our Moutain waterfalls work again for the first time ina while too!
  14. Okay so the path way is blocked off from Timber Wolf Falls all the way to the entrance to Splash Works. They are working on a water system there and digging up some sprinkler heads. THERE IS NO ORANGE MARKERS AS REPORTED BY SOMEONE BEFORE ME! There are no new markers at all, so let's make that clear. The park is BEYOND busy with so many Canadians looking for something cheap and close to do I can't explain how busy the kids side of the park is and Splash Works. I keep going and it's beyond packed, more so then I have ever seen with so many South American Tourists due to the Pan Am games. I seriously think the park is going to pull over 4 million guests this season. So I spoke with my friend whom worked for the park for 9 years and has a great understanding of everything. He strongly believes we won't be seeing a coaster in 2016 for the following reasons; 1. The park continues to pull strong numbers without large capital investments, 2. The Canadian Economy is taking 25 cents for every dollar earned right now from Canada's Wonderland on a daily basis and has been losing roughly 10-25 cents per dollar since last season! 3. He even went on to say we may not see a large investment in 2017 neither. He does not work for the park anymore so he is not a source just a brain to pick and I have held my stance against a 2016 coaster because he is the second person I have heard from whom I trust that 2016 is not our year! This Helicopter was flying way to close to Windseeker and over the construction site to not be either Matt Ouimet himself just analysing or a site planner for a future project. Could also just be the news I mean the park is slammed pack full of visitors from South America
  15. I will go tomorrow to get pictures, however if you notice the construction goes into the change rooms looks like a watermain break, the orange stakes in the forest are marking a gas line/ electrical they are on metal poles and not wooden stakes.
  16. the stake was a yellow stake that was broken in half
  17. compare the sides of the spine to that is def launched wing rider track there thats unpainted.
  18. comparison, I think I see launched straight un painted pieces at the factory. Compare to holiday worlds launch looks like a large straight sections with same rectangular spine;)
  19. Went to the park today; 1. It is so busy with a bunch of large groups from South America visiting like they do in Orlando. (for example, Behemoths Fast Pass line alone was maxed out, Slingshot was doing a lot of business and there must have been 30+ minute waits for food alone). 2. The park has really really really stepped up their landscaping game, the park looked and smelled beautiful! I can't describe it but the flowers and plants they planted were amazing! 3. There are still orange and yellow markers around Minebuster but all the markers in Skyriders spot have been snapped in half... 4. Parking lot was pretty much full again and it had about 10 full sized busses parked! I honestly think this park is going to do 4 million guests this year! I keep going and it's crazy busy whenever the sun is out. video-1436996137.mp4.mp4 Best Front Entrance to a season Park
  20. So I listened to this pod cast and it makes it seem Cedar Point isn't getting a coaster next year so is that our Dive Coaster? http://coasterradio.com/
  21. impossible as the train already need a roll back section on bottom of its car and lift section it can't have 3 abilities underneath it aha
  22. Interesting looks like there's spots for add ons missing from the center of this track.. AKA a launch maybe?
  23. This is why I think it's for Canada's Wonderlands Wing Coaster, it resembles a wing coaster track and if you think about it Wonderlands track would need to be made first as wing coasters take longer to build and due to longer shipping times us being in Canada. Just a hunch but I think the wing coaster track will be made first then the dive coaster track. Dive Machines are quick to build.
  24. Teasing coming soon, Shannon Kelly is the PR manager and she is absolutely amazing, very personable and a breath of fresh air. Also happy to see Canada's Wonderland is extremely busy to the point of pretty much full capacity parking lot which I have never seen before and their PR manager seems happy
