  1. Would be surprised if they add another droptower....I'd guess they retheme the area around the existing one... The only two top rides in Heide Park: Scream and Colossos.
  2. Thanks for all the pics....and still one year to go.... My priority will also be doing Harry Potter first and then all the coasters. I'll be going either end of February or end of April - hope this are good times crowdwise. On Dr. Seuss land I think its a funny idea doing a monorail based on Mack Powered Coaster. And honestly: I also tend to fill up spare seats in rides when travelling alone as it shortens the waits - even if waittimes are short....
  3. The following tips if you get to Hamburg for a week or so... Hansa-Park: DB (Deutsche Bahn) rail to Lübeck - dont miss the marzipane - and then by bus to Hansa-Park Heide Park: DB rail to Soltau and then by bus to Heide Park Tivoli Gardens / Bakken: DB/DSB train to Copenhagen, budget city hotel in Copenhagen check out the WakeUp - 10 mins walk to Tivoli Carnivals: Hannover Carnival 29.06. - 08.07 - and Olympia Looping will be there - DB rail to Hannover, light cityrail to Schützenplatz Sommerdom: 20.07. - 19.08 - most likely with Alpina Bahn - take subway to St. Pauli
  4. lol...I always think that at US carnivals the light-packages of the rides are very, very basic... Sadly most darkrides are quite old and are all ghost-houses....but you mostly laugh yourself to dead than beeing scared.
  5. This photo report is bird-approved! classic Music-Express looking good wordls biggest portable glass-mirror-maze... after one long week finally another spin! swoooosh... Homer: Ahhh.....Loopon..... Double-Swinger Beware: Konga swings! and another Music-Express... Dancer... so many things to do.... Star Shape - with Millerntor floodlights in the back, home of FC St. Pauli! something bavarian... sign of excellence. Should there be beer in amusment parks? Have a Beer To Go over it! Auto-Scooter! best non-looping part: curve between the first and second loop at 50 mph! After the last of three spins....
  6. Scandinavian Airline System (SAS) offers some great prices on Scandi city-hopping. For example Copenhagen-Gothenborg is only a 35-minute flight and cost me only €85! With Hamburg-Helsinki at only €120. These prices are only 10-20% over the fare by train or ferry and you save of course a lot of time.
  7. Right now I cant name a european park I've been were you cant get beer.... I honestly dont see any reason why there shoudn't be beer available - or even wine - at least in the restaurants or beer gardens. At carnivals here you can all kinds of alcohol - even liqours and spirits.
  8. I always wonder how the championchips are a "world series" - I've never seen teams from europe, asia or africa participating....
  9. In germany there're these options I'd recommend on what you seek: Europa-Park - must-do Phantasialand - wonderful theming plus a good B&M invert Heide-Park - great selection of HUSS flats but except for Colossos coasters are midrange Hansapark - one classic Schwarzkopf coaster, one Gerstelauer and some unique flats Oktoberfest - quite expensive but must-do if you wanna catch the big two Schwarzkopf portables - Olympia and Alpina In the netherlands: De Efteling - best theming ever, best darkrides ever, some good coaster Slagharen - sporting some classic 70s european carnival rides and a wonderful Schwarzkopf collection: Looping Star, Monster, Enterprise, Apollo, Monorail, Ferris-Wheel. Walibi - some seldom-found flats like a powerful park version of the HUSS Magic, many Verkoma coasters - but also a Intamin mega-coaster. If you prefer city-hoping mixing in some culture and shopping I'd suggest Scandinavia as there're still many city-center parks around - Tivoli, Bakken, Liseberg, Gröna-Lund, Särkäniemmi, Linnanmaki.
  10. Should I make a remark on this noting the "portable fair coaster" that is now in my town....
  11. Always funny to see at which remote sites Moser kiddie drop towers end up....they really cornered the market... Another thing you cant do in germany and especially in scandinavia: Put up "no outside food or drinks" signs. In the Sommerlands the carpark is part of the park area - you pay all at the carpark gate - so you can always go to your car to get more food or drink from it....
  12. Great pics from Universal which I will likely visit next spring... On the Moaning Myrtle bathroom my question would not be the moaning but why the bathroom isnt looking like the one in the movies.... And I'm alyways surprised on what goes for "breakfast" in the States. After 3-4 weeks I'm dying for a good assortment of wurst - the kind you slice or spread, cheese and Nutella chocolate-cream...
  13. I find this statement quite weird from someone whose first priority should be the safety of his guests.... As seen on Teststrecke and SooperDooperLooper the rolling stock needs replacement after about 30-35 years so this fact shouldn't be a surprise for someone running an amusement park.
  14. Always when seeing inverted monorails I've to think about the Wuppertaler Schwebebahn - "Wuppertal's Hovering Railway" The most unique sensation is when entering the train at a terminus during rush-hour. With many poeple entering the train at once it weirdly oscillates a few times...
  15. Generally not at parks for season openings: way too crowded. If I go to a park I dont wanna stand in lines....
  16. Thanks for the PTR. Will likely visit this - and other area parks - in one of my future US stays... But to Hersheypark I'll come for the rides and not for the chocolate...even if I'm VERY much into chocolate the Hershey ones have to much ingredients that dont belong - for a plain dark or milk chocolate there should only be cacao powder, cacao butter and sugar (dark) and add milk for a milk chocolate. Everything else is just obsolete. And chemical or artificial ingredients are a no-go for me.
  17. But needs 3D-glasses....like the 3D-projection in the Disney towers far more. If only for the reason that due to a quite harmless eye-condition I cant use conventional 3D with glasses systems - that includes all known 3D cinema systems so far....
  18. ^How was it? Have Hotel+Tickets in Spetember...
  19. hmmmmm...... Yesterday afternoon 3 spins on the Olympia
  20. Had a great spin again last afternoon on "Family Buget Day" with most rides at €2 and Olympia at €5.... And only then noted that the Monster still has the original manufacturer's logo on each gondola - will try to get a better picture with my "real" camera next time...
  21. On smaller B&M coasters I can only say that Daemonen at Tivoli Gardens puts in more punch than any other of their coasters....so for B&M its true to say that good things come in small packages.
  22. Olympia Looping Saturday - and also this afternoon....
  23. I'll be travelling with poeple soon who're not fluent enough in english to watch a regular Broadway show - this looks like a thing to do with them!
  24. First weekend of spring carnival for first ride of the year.... Still a lil early - so only one subway station down to the harbour. Upper broadwalk with newly added floodgates installed for Global Warming floods. View from a ferry. Aida Luna in port. Weekend or not - germany's largest port always busy. But then it was finally past 3 pm. Mondial Inferno "Airwolf" already going tupsy-turvy. What a nice way to begin a new year coasterwise! Zierer Waveswinger with something very big and very swingy in the back. As the weather is shiny - some rafting fun. Waveswinger against the sun... Atlantis Rafting theming... Music Express nearly always fully loaded. Happy poeple! View down the midway with a BreakDancer on the left and the Zierer Star-Shape "High Energy" in the back. Break Dancer was very crowded this day! If wanted to get a ride you had to jump onto the octagon while it was still spinning out and the gondolas were still not secured in position - I already see some US safety guys getting nightmares about it... Mostly the ride didn't stop completly at all and begun spinning up when all restraints were down again. After this hustle and bustle a relaxing view down to the ferris wheel. But isn't that an Octopus head on the right??? Yes, Schwarzkopf Monster in full swing! German carnival classic - love this ride! Waiting for launch - with kiddie flat and Star-Shape in the back. Ummmm.....Beer! But you've to climb to get one... Contrary to the look of it its actually a pretty smooth ride. In case you wondered: The Frisbee by showman Robrahn is of course also here. Classic Rotor. Hmmmm....I need to get off this ferris wheel... Looking like a model kit from up above. Lights....Music....Action! Taking another spin as the sun is setting. Airwolf features a great light package. European take on the american tilt-a-whirl. Here called Waltz-Ride. Before heading home the final ride of the day is Shaker. If weather holds cu wednesday!
