  1. Checked on rcdb on your former home park and it had a unique coaster collection. But how cool is it that the Looping Star is up and running in Botswana! Thats what I call "Made in Germany" - like with the VW Beetle: "It runs and runs and runs..."!
  2. Hansa-Park 2012 The whole week was quite rainy and I took quite a chance on going friday. The gamble paid off as it was dry all day - even if some gray clouds loomed - and the park was quite empty till late afternoon when the local kids with season passes came in. So ERT on all coasters most of the day! The parking lot guard is already in. After my first carnival coaster was Olympia Looping this year I saw it fitting to start my themepark year with "Nessie". Now some pics for the Schwarzkopf fanboys. All others should scroll down a little...(-; On to my other favorite "Flying Shark" - one of the last remaining Huss Ranger in germany as the last one travelling was lately sold to romania. However this one got a new operators plate with fancy LEDs so I hope it'll stay some years to come. Sadly most poeple today seem too chickenshit to hang upside-down by a lapbar... View from the Mine Tower over the Maurer-Söhne Mouse "Crazy Mine" in the front and some of the nice rides in the back of the park. Seldom found rafting "Rio Dorado" made by White Water West. Unique ride "The Bell" by Funtime. Very low capacity but ideal on a slow day like this. Junior logflume around a viking ship. Fun junior coaster "Snake of Midgaard" - note the animatronic snake's head on the right... No teacups spin faster than Zamperla teacups! Honestly: You can spin these at insane speeds! Another classic refurbished with sparkling new LED lights: Huss Troika "Waverider". Also love the location with the near-colission point with the administrative building. It's green... Classic Merry-Go-Round from the gyro-tower. Logflume "Super splash". "Super Splash" was costum-designed and built by Intamin. And right next door the classic logflume by Arrow - in 1978 the first of its kind in germany. The boss is in. Huss Pirate "The Flying Dutchman" Western Town from the parks railroad station... ...which brings one to Fluch. The story of poor soul Peer Oldendorp. Greatly themed queue - but its hard to get the holographic talking head right. The massive use of holographic projectors is awesome - this package could IMO work greatly as inspiration for a Harry Potter Gringotts rollercoaster. Good hair-day! Heartline-Roll with good hangtime. And finally after getting out of the Fluch maze a ride on the BHS Metroliner powered coaster.
  3. Great impressions of a nice-looking coaster. Thats why I never go on opening or premiere days - I'd only wait that long for Schwarzkopf Thriller with the knowledge that it would be put to scrap the next day....
  4. Thanks for the update! On Colossos: I've heard from some poeple that the coaster isn't running fine when under 15 °C - normally the airtime is insane. But even when I rode it once after a shower it was - well - more harmless. This coaster likes it warm and dry... On Heide-Park: IMO Colossos is by far the best coaster. Further down of course Krake and Desert Race - but both are midrange coasters. On the Vekoma's I'd prefer Big Loop over Limit any day. And on adding a B&M Flyer: I believe it when I see it. And even if they do it hope they wont add a lightweight version like they did with the Krake. On Olympia Looping: Yes those shoulder clamps are tricky when not used to them. You have to keep your back stretched and straight all trough the ride - most importantly in the compressions - so those things dont come down. It's a little like on the back stretcher in the gym. And "having room to move" is exactly wrong - the clamps must have a tight fit when pushed down in the station, otherwise they've momentum when comming down. Olympia Looping is a very powerful coaster and isnt for those lacking spine... I don't know if this coaster would be fit receiving lapbar-only trains as some support beams are really close...
  5. Running Android 2.3 and when I say "add this file" I can see that data-transfer is going on but no pic is added. Ideas anyone?
  6. Great TR of many small unknown parks. I mostly only visit parks that at least is featuring a coaster with inversions - at least a Vekoma Whirlwind. Vekoma is doing a more modern version of this with inverted seating and no cage around you. But I'd think its older and was competing with rides like the Ranger or Traumboot - so early-mid 80s...
  7. Last year I had a Hansa-Park Season-Pass. But mostly I try to hit as many different parks per season as possible so I mostly have no passes at all.
  8. A vital clue that others might have missed....
  9. Well - for me credits include: - Portable coasters like my Schwarzkopf's in Germany - current and past ones - Schwarzkopf Bayernkurve's and BHS Metroliner as those are IMO powered coasters - Summer Rail-Sleds like this at Fort Fun What I dont include are: - Watercoasters were the car is not fixed onto the track/rails or which can swim freely in the water
  10. Great pics. Might still be some time before I'll get my hands on a B&M wingrider. Also like that they keep the old Arrow-trains over there. Here most have been replaced with 1st gen Vekoma-trains which are even worse. But the brand-new Vekoma-trains with these rubber-like OTSRs should be manadatory for all Arrow/Vekoma-loopers - with those these coasters are real fun.
  11. The lapbar on the Junior Coaster doesn't look very safe due to the size difference of the riders. As I've known all the security hustle-bustle in the US I'm surprised that this was allowed...
  12. I may hit the "South-of-NYC" parks in 2015 - maybe they've Flying Turns running by then....
  13. I totally agree that launch would be different but that way you could use tech they already have for their current coasters - re-creating the original launch mechanism could proof even more costly than using an LSM/LIM.
  14. This is very good news indeed - but sadly to far out for a tourist comming from overseas. Maybe someday on a TPR Tour... My uneducated guess on re-making a broken-down shuttle-loop would be to remove the whole original trains and launch assembly may it be drop or flywheel and only keep the original track. Then put a new train onto it and equip it with a LSM/LIM launch system. I think Gerstelauer could do this but as said with a price.
  15. Even if most indoor parks cant compete in size I think that a hall like this should be part of any major park. Especially in areas were it rains often. That way you could visit a park nicely on a showery day. Of course its all in the numbers: Will the additional cost of a huge hall be payed off be additional visitors during rainy days? As there so little of these around I guess not...
  16. The Wildcat was designed to be a portable coaster. It can be errected/dismantled by 3 men and a portable crane in 2 days if you've a good team. And who did call this classic coaster an "eyesore"?
  17. Looks like a nice park to be. And obviously a Fabbri testbed with the inverted coaster, drop tower, rafting - the exact same rafting ride I know as a portable on carnivals. The escalator is cool. Thinking of it and how supposedly lazy US citizens are I missed those at SFMM....
  18. It's a BHS Metroliner - a powered coaster made after the original Schwarzkopf Bayerncurve. And as other powered coaster are included I clude this as well into my count. Glad you liked Hamburg and Hansa-Park as these are my homecity/homepark. Hansa-Park may not have as many coasters as other german parks but those they have are quite unique - at least the two "big ones". And with Hamburg DOM my teen years were "all-Schwarzkopf" coasterwise: Nessie, Triple-Loop, Katapult, Thriller, Olympia, Alpina-Bahn (then Himalaya-Bahn). North of Hamburg in summer you've all the great holiday-areas at the north and baltic sea - and what I miss most when in the US are all the snack-shacks, beer-stands and self-service-restaurants right at the piers/harbours to just lounge and enjoy the day, maybe doing a small one or two hour sea cruise - or a bigger one to Duty-Free island Helgoland.
  19. With all those fancy huge coaster at Cedar Point the Wildcat was an anachronism for quite some time and its really not fitting anymore for such a big park. Sad though that they wanna scrap it. However as long as the two Wildcats in my vicinity stay - the Achterbahn at Skyline Park and the Die Wilden 50er on the carnival circuit - I cant say I'm concerned about this...
  20. More malls should add some nice rides.... Great TR! Gerstelauer puts alot into their Eurofighters - but still have to get onto one with their new lapbar-only restraints....
  21. You shouldnt be too pessimistic about this fact - in europe the majority of inner city public transit were built at times when we had totalitarian governments from 1850-1940. Today even small extensions take 10-30 years due to all the lawsuits... Sometimes I think the vulcan (Star Trek - Spock) rule should apply: "The good of the many outweighs the good of the few"
  22. Many Autobahnen are expanded from 2 to 3 lines per direction - especially on Autobahn 1 - and its horrible at times. The fun begins while overtaking on the narrowed left line...
  23. You must be very late in Hamburg if you started at Plohn 1730. Did you had a fast car making a spin on our Autobahn?
  24. LOL - get rid of your speedlimit an then talk again....we drive 65 mph on normal 1-lane-per-direction routes here... Generally I think its a good idea as the Orlando public transit is just plain horrible. If you wanna get to Disney you can use the Disney busses but from Disney to SeaWorld or Universal you simply need a car.
