  1. Or as a Heide-Park engineer said during the Wing-Rider tour about the older Vekoma coasters: "It's just 3 tubes wielded together..."
  2. ^without knowing anything about engineering but remembering the indoor Dancer from Santa Cruz Broadwalk I guess the Dancer 3 they have should fit in easily. Could also do a new ride - like a Huss Booster. Just needs to be something that really stays "flat" during its ride - something like a Round-Up would surely not fit. As the building has a foundation that once held the huge rotating entry plattform it should be ready to put a ride onto it. Of course they could also turn it into a walkthrough ghosthouse as part of the queue.
  3. As only 24 riders - enough to fill one train - are allowed to enter the station the scareactors have some room to move around. Next to the normal queue the ride also has a Express-Butler and single rider entrance.
  4. ^How about relocating the Break Dancer into the old station? Giving it a fitting demon theme and making it a darkride with effects would sure be cool. Then the Schwarzkopf Monster Okti could leave its lonely place and go into the Maya Valley.
  5. ^Airtime mostly felt in the second half of the train, but still mild compared to Intamins like Colossos next door. Positive Gs mostly present at the entry of the Immelmann and the compression of the Pretzel-Loop, would guess topping at about 3,5Gs. Maybe have to re-check it on a warmer day - we had 8-10 °C today - engineer said he guessed top speed today at cool temps at 96 kph, at 30 °C he thinks it could reach up to 105 kph. The overall feeling reminded me of a flight I did on a glider / sailplane a few years ago.
  6. ^Your cars use a lot of gas...
  7. Engineer who did the tour said that the paint will be sandblasted off and re-done in the off season to x-ray and ultrasound the trains for hairline cracks...
  8. Having spent one night at the Port Royal Resort Hotel with dinner and breakfast buffet one was ready to take spins on Heide-Parks brand new coaster one week before park opening - one day after the official cristening and press event. The coaster looking nice in HPs typical white/dark-green color scheme. Entry is in part via the old Wildwasser 2 entryways which station remains as a ghostly ruin. On the station scareactors posed as Demons and were ready to scare waiting riders. I liked the coaster more in the front as it provided some very nice upside down hangtimes here. The back had some nice forces on the outer seats - however also some oscillating in some figures. Sadly in row 3 and 4 faster Nylon wheels were installed that improved the coasters speed but also were a tad rough - not only car racing depends on the right tires. On the behind-the-scenes tour it was said that they hope to replace Nylon wheels with standard wheels as the weather will get warmer. Passing Krake - maybe in a few weeks... Getting closer Test run with dummies and two engineers in the back Frist look at the station. Got the first ride of the day. The operators stand was packed as employees did training on the job. Happy riders having a little air mostly in the back of the train here. Slow inversions with good hangtime in the front rows. Track detail The remains of the log flume station. Some nice compression in the pretzel-loop. Inside the air compressor room. Flug requires an air pressure system with constantly 8 bar for mechnical brakes and entry gates. The main ride computer control and engine room. Some 30 year old loops from the serviceway. Train inside the maintenence bay. An average of 4 hours per day with two engineers of maintenece is required for this ride. Engineers beginning work at 6 am... Wheel assembly up close. Entire bay with crane assembly. New wheels! Cost: €500 (small) and €700 (large) Control box for testing the restraint systems. These guys and girls love to scare riders who are immersed in their smartphone... Final ride of the day having done 4 spins today. Good day to start the 2014 season. Big Loop ready to roll next sunday. One last view over the whole layout of Flug. Seeing it again soon...
  9. IMO it is fun for 2-4 rides, liked it better up front with nice hangtimes. Middle rows running Nylon wheels for better speeds a little rougher. Good addition nevertheless.
  10. It flies, ultrasmooth with some nice hangtimes
  11. Keep fingers crossed for dry weather tomorrow - I will be there for the pre-opening event to ride this beauty...
  12. Maybe Disney starts to promote up to its new Star Wars movies were Hamill is likely doing a guest appearance or cameo. Read new Star Wars movie will start shooting this summer in the UK...
  13. Do not want to be ignorant but: Who is honored with the Polish flag?
  14. Looks like a nice and very green park. The only sad thing they have not removed the defunct rides and built new ones in their place. However they have a nice selection of HUSS rides, a very long powered coaster and a seldom seen 70s Bakker Polyp. Thanks for the pics...
  15. Looks like an amazing place. Maybe time to start piling up money for a Business Class ticket to see it one day...
  16. Generally policy is policy and I think it would not be secure for him to ride most coasters. All lapbars only coasters come to mind or coasters were the legs dangle free like inverted coasters. I think he could ride OTSR coasters with a closed floor like for example a B&M Sitdown as he still has his arms and shoulders - but this cannot be decided by the attendant at the ride - this needs to be done by a qualified engineer before visiting a park. Generally I hope this will not lead to guys who will read you all kinds of rules and restrictions at entry and make the line to get into a park go around the block...
  17. Looks like a Mega-Coaster in the first part which turns into a multi-looper in its second part - would love to see such a combo.
  18. ^maybe some leftovers in their storage...
  19. The animation looks more like aimed toward investors to me. Many redundant rides (3 Dumbo clones right next to each other, 2 Ferris wheels AND a Flying Island) as well as rides that would hardly fit into a high capacity park (Mondial Turbine). And I guess the vertical drop coaster will not have a train like shown - the G-forces in the rear car would be insane. I think it would be interesting to see what they will actually build.
  20. Some great construction pics posted at kirmesforum.de If weather permits I will make my first round next Sunday on my return from riding Heide-Park's new Wing-Rider...
  21. Better than in Germany the last 3 weeks: The sun shines from a cloudless blue sky with temps up to 20C with all parks closed - because the last years there were heaps of snow this time of year. But now as the park openings are coming the weather gets worse... But thanks for the report: Another park likely to visit next year...
  22. Always when I read "Looping Star" and see one more of these horrible Zyklon coasters...
  23. Generally I think the ride is "burnt" in Germany so I would be surprised if a major park nearby would get it. If at all Skyline Park would come to mind as they have bought some used rides in the past - but do not know if they have the space to built it. Maybe some other racetrack want it? Hello Sochi???
