I have to say one thing: riding Verbolten could make you forget how great a ride the old BIG BAD WOLF really was. One more thing to say: it's nice they were able to savage and reuse the river drop element because that element is very scenic for photograph takers everywhere. "And I have one thing to say: please come to bed."

Besides of being a rider and an amusement park flyer, I am also an great fan of playing minature golf. Seeing the pictures of those two courses, one haunted and the other sci-fi, it appears that the Univeral City Walk has another great attraction to help generate more $$$, plus to prove that the City Walk is just more than restaurants and night clubs. Question - Where in the City Walk did they put this course? In closing, who knows what will be next to be installed in the City Walk? "I've got one: how about one giant-sized bed with many pillows on top, so any weary, tired riders can pay a few bucks and lie down. I would love to work at that attraction, in fact, I'll do it for free!"

After reading this article, I'm not so sure whether or not this would work (Remember, in 2007, I visited the park and got burnt - burnt real bad), but as a hopeless optimistic, maybe she'll know what this park needs and managed to get the dang park open and generate so much profit that'll be the shot in the arm to get Maggie Valley back into the minds and maps of riders and amusement park flyers everywhere. It should be a park that anyone who visits would be or , but not nor . After my visit in 2007, I amused myself in what additions this park will need in other to attract a rider and amusement park flyer (Like me ), although keeping in mind of the area's limited space (But I wouldn't know how big the area is; I only know the area that we were allowed to roam around, that's all), so I'm thinking that adding a mega-size coaster would be out of the question (But I would like to be proven wrong - plus remember that Busch Gardens in Williamsburg went its first two seasons before adding The Loch Ness Monster, maybe they could clear an unused section and put something exciting and amazing that would be a major draw). So until that is practical or not, I have made out a list of what I feel this park really needs. #1 - It needs some type of log flume ride. Log flume always fit the Old West and they are a family fun ride. #2 - It also needs a family coaster. Yes, it has Cliffhanger and it has some kiddie coaster that someone my age and size cannot get on, so it needs a coaster to fit right in the middle (I'm thinking the ever popular Mad Mouse coaster). #3 - It needs another theme area. When I last visited Ghost Town in the Sky, I only counted three area: The second tier where Cliffhanger was, The Old West Town, and the rides area. It needs another area, such as Indian Village or maybe a fort. #4 - Cliffhanger needs more partners. On the second tier, the only thing I saw was the Cliffhanger and some areas. Anyone in the amusement park business knows that the key is to spread out your visitors, so the second tier could use some more attractions. I was thinking of putting a Tilt-a-Whirl ride inside a pavilion and calling it "The Hoe-Down". Also, maybe a specialty shop or two. The visitors, when taking the shuttle bus from the upper tier, shouldn't have to take it just to ride Cliffhanger and take the skyride down, they should have more things to do in this area. #5 - Additional flat rides that don't just spin you around. The park has plenty of that, but it could also use a bumper car atttraction (I thinking that the "Rough Riders" located at Holiday World would be ideal as their cars are shaped as steers , and a dark ride attraction (Anything related to the Old West, maybe even a Haunted Mine attraction). #6 - And finally, the park could use more games to gather more money. I'm thinking of a shooting galley and other Old West-related games. Well, those are my ideas. Of course, additions like that would take time and lots of $$$, but I'm sure that if the park uses my suggestions, then Ghost Town in the Sky would definately be a destination you would want to visit. And maybe I'll have a better time on my next visit. "Are you done yet? I ache for your head to lie upon!"

^This does sound like a step in the right direction if they can attract lots of business. I'm thinking it could be like another Broadway at the Beach, but on the south end of Myrtle Beach. If this new mall has the right amount of specialty shops, restaurants, and entertainment complexes, who knows if this could be the next step for reopening the old park? I like to sound optimistic, but I got burnt before. Remember Ghost Town in the Sky? I was there when the park reopened in 2007, and they didn't have nothing. Oh, they had plenty of shows, but the main coaster was still being worked on and they had several rides that weren't running. I only got to ride two lousy rides! Still I hope for the best. "Are you done yet, because I . . .zzz . . .zzz . . ."

Ten years ago, I visited Six Flags Great America and had a rough visit. The year was 2001, I was on the second week into my road trip, and the driving was H,E,(double hockey sticks. I arrived at the park late, only got to stay seven hours, and rode several coasters once and a few flat rides (Yep, it was also very crowded that day). But in 2012, I shall be returning to that park with one thing on my mind, REVENGE!!! This time, I won't be spending a few hours, but several days. I'll make sure I'll get plenty of rides in before I go. And as for the X-flight - "Bring it on!" "Hey, if you miss me while you're on vacation, don't cry on another pillow!"

The Off-Season Survival Thread
palmerleeberry replied to ernierocker's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
For me, there are three things I do to help survive the off-season: Play in the bowling league (which I do every Thursday), watch a lot of football (both college and pro), and work on my weigh loss so I'll be able to fit better in those tight restraints on the next time I visit a park. "As for me, I like to lay in bed all day, wishing that the person writing this thread will stop and lay his head upon me. Come to think of it, I like to do that two in the on-season." -
Kennywood (KW) Discussion Thread
palmerleeberry replied to DenDen's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Ho, ho, ho, it looks like Kennywood is doing it again by bring in a type of ride that I know I would like to ride, but would had to travel to Kings Island or Cedar Point to ride it. And for the record - "I'm not afraid of spiders!" "Well, goody - you wanna cookie?" "Chocolate chip please!" "I'm just lying here in bed, so I don't have anything I would like to say." -
Hey, Hey, What can I say? I was just checking out this discussion page concerning Six Flags America and saw a press release that included this statement: . I do not know if I should excited, glad, or just plain doubtful on the new park president. I hope that he'll come up with some interesting ideas to help Six Flags America rise up from it's knees and become a great park one again! I guess that "we'll see" within the coming years. "Don't look at me; I just want to lie in bed."

Kings Dominion (KD) Discussion Thread
palmerleeberry replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Austin11KD » said this on a recent post: I totally agree with the first part: tear out those (insert your favorite swear word here) horse collars and put in the new and improve over the shoulder restraints that both Carowind's Carolina Cobra and Hersheypark's sindwinder has, and I'll bet the farm that ride will be smooth as silk (not to mention less painful in the old headbanging department - I mean, that is so 90's ). I like those new restraints so much, we need to call Congress and have them pass a law requiring all coasters that has those old horsecollar restraints to be replaced with the newer models. Or how about this idea:take out the old trains and put in the new trains that has the same model trains that run on Intimidator 305? I'll bet that would take that ride to new heights. Waht do you all think? "I think that if you want to start dreaming, then do it on me. That's what I'm made for." -
Wow , I bet that was one BIG experience. I never got to ride a coaster in the snow, but I did ride the Griffon at Busch Gardens Europe at night when they were running the fireworks show on the other side of the park. I don't think I've ever seen a firework show while riding 200 feet up in the air. That was awesome! "I'll tell you something else that's awesome: you and me in bed sleeping together. I want you to lay your head upon me."

Hersheypark (HP) Discussion Thread
palmerleeberry replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^^ I have to agree with Synshine: that area is probably reserve for utilities. As for the rest of the area, it looks like a mess, but that is always the case whenever a new ride is being built. It may not look pretty now, but just wait until opening day ( not to mention the weeks, months, and seasons that will follow after it ), then that area will look SUPERDUPER!!! One final note: thanks you jzoole for liking my multi-color post, so this one's for you: S K Y R U S H - - - 2 0 1 2 HERSHEYPARK USA!!! "Oh wow, I wish he was good for sleeping with me just like he is typing in code all those multi-color fonts. He has to get tired sometimes." -
What is the best floorless?

To me, the best floorless coaster is the one running at Kings Dominion - The Dominator. -
Favorite Theme Park Game
palmerleeberry replied to wplover's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Once again, I have found a long lost thread that needed to be brought out, dusted, polished, and displayed for everyone to see. No need to thank me; just doing my duty. Whenever I'm with friends and we are stuck inside a long line, we would usually play "Comments". To play comments, you either see something or hear something and you make a comment about it. To many people, they think we are just talking, but we are actually playing "Comments". Helps pass the time while we're waiting. During the Halloween season, we would play another fine game call "Costume Spotting" in which we spot the kiddies wearing costumes and put them into a catagory (such as superheroes, spooks, Harry Potter, etc) and by the end of our visit we determine which category featured the most kiddies wearing that costume and declare that catagory the winner. Now that I reopened this thread, I now ask all of you: What is your favorite park game? -
Hersheypark (HP) Discussion Thread
palmerleeberry replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^ Well, I do apologize to anyone who finds my posts hard to read just because I like to use a lot of colors whenever I submit a post. I also apologize that I tend to write long posts while others just submit a line of two. And I also apologize that I don't use acronyms because I find that distracting whenever I read a post and someone uses an acronym rather than spelling out the full name ( for example, they would use "KD" instead of "Kings Dominion"). Half of the time, I have a hard time figuring out what they are writing about? Since I'm on this thread once more, I noticed that the Tilt-a-Whirl ride has been taken out (it probably was removed so they could have an entrance to SkyRush), so will this ride be relocated to another area of the park, or is it gone for good? "I too would like to make an apology that palmerleeberry should stop typing all those long posts and join me in bed. Gee whiz, am I the only one who sleeps around here?" -
Hersheypark (HP) Discussion Thread
palmerleeberry replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Before I begin, here is my silent moment to remember the passing of Frank O'Connell. Now I want to write about last Saturday when my friend and I went up to Hersheypark for their Hersheypark in the Dark!. Because we arrived at around 11:30 and the park didn't opened up until two, we hung around Chocolate World, took the Chocolate Tour, saw the 3-D Adventure Show, and looked around until the park opened. Talk about the crowds (It was CROWD-DED!!!). In all, we only got to ride ten rides and saw one show (The Screaming Mummies - it was a great show), plus we had dinner at the Wurstburg Grill ( And I thank it all to the wonderful deal I found online in which you can get admission to the park, plus a meal for only $38!!! You cannot beat that, especially since my friend loved sausages). Despite seeing the construction crews working hard to repair some of the restrooms that were damaged during the recent flood, the whole park operated and appeared like the flood never happened. But what did happen that day happened on the Fahrenhite and I'm glad we got to ride it before the ride got stuck, leaving a few hapless, unlucky riders stranded on the lift hill. The line for Lighting Racer was the longest I've ever seen during the years I've been to the park, and despite that they were only running one set of trains, we still managed to get on within fifteen minutes. The coaster with the longest wait time had to be the Sidewinder due to the fact that the train had four sections taped off. The rides we rode were The Comet, The Great Bear, The Sportscars, Fahrenhite, Showtime - The Screaming Mummies, Lighting Racer, The Slide, The Wildcat, Dinnertime and trip to my car to put some stuff away, Storm Runner, The Sidewinder, and my friend rode The Claw ( Because he's skinny and can fit within the restraints and I cannot) as I rode the Pirate. Despite the huge crowds and the low number of rides, we still managed to have a great day. We also did our Halloween game we call "Costume Spotting" in which we spot a costume and put them into several categories. The category that had the most were the superheroes, followed by the spookies, with video game characters into third place. In last place ( and this was a surprise!) we only spotted two characters from Star Wars as they were beaten by three babies dressed as jack o'laterns! If there were more Jedi Knights roaming throughout the park, then WHERE WERE YOU? You all got out numbered by babies being wheeled in their baby strollers dressed like jack o'laterns! Well, I think I wrote enought: somebody is getting impatient with me. "You got that right, mister. By the way, did you see anyone at the park dressed as a pillow?" I think I did, but I put them down as spooks. I thought they were ghosts. "Ghosts? How can anyone mistaken a pillow for a ghost? That is so sad." -
Okay, I'll admit that I have skipped a few coasters before, especially last year when I was vacationing in California and visited Six Flags Magic Mountain. Even though it was Monday, the park was very crowded (unless you rode the older rides, especially the flat rides, then they were walk up to them and ride), so I had to be very selective on which coasters to ride and which I could skip. X2 and Deja Vu were high on my "must ride or die" list so they were the first two coasters I went on. I couldn't ride Superman nor Goliath because both of those coasters were shut down (The first one was being remodeled back then, the other was just pitching up a hissy fit). So I skipped Viper because I rode many looping coasters before, skipped Riddler's Revenge because I don't care for stand-ups, skipped Batman because I rode many Batmans in other Six Flags parks, and skipped Scream because I rode plenty of floor-less coasters (I'm talking about the Dominator at Kings Dominion). Another time was in 2001 when I visited Six Flags Great America (it is near Chicago, Illinois) and the park was CROWD-ED that day I arrived. I had only seven hours to enjoy the park, so I did one tour around the park riding everything I could in those short seven hours. There were only three coasters I decided to skip: Deja Vu (It wasn't running that day, no surprises there), Batman - the ride (During my vacation tour on that year I rode plenty of Batmans, so I figured I could skip this one), and V2 (I saw how crowded the lines were, so I decided to not ride it; besides, I was going to Six Flags Ohio in a few days and I could ride their version of the V2 coaster there - which I did - 3 times, because there was no line!) Other than those times, I try not to miss any coasters whenever I'm traveling. At my home park of Kings Dominion and holding a Platinum Pass, I can easily skip any coaster I want knowing I'll come back another time to ride it whenever the lines are short (This is especially true to the Volcano - if you don't ride it first then you'll be waiting a long time to ride it later in the day). "Are you done yet? I miss you."

Disneyworld "Secrets and Scandals!"
palmerleeberry replied to MrMorgan's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Okay, you want t a secret, here's one: When you visit the Magic Kingdom in Orlando Florida and enter the park, you are actually on the second floor. Below you is a netwoork of tunnels and wide passageways in which the cast members can go to and fro from their places without crossing other worlds and getting in the way of the visitors. This was all mentioned on the show "Modern Marvels". Here's another one, although it's mostly a fact: What is the fastest ride at the Magic Kingdom? (Remember, only at the Magic Kingdom park and not at any other park) Is it Space Mountain, the Autobahn, Thunder Mountain Railroad, or Splash Mountain? No, it's none of the above. It's actually the Monorail that the visitors ride to enter and exit the park (40 mph) "Either please get off and lay your head upon me, or I'll type out some secrets about you it'll make you ... Bye ya! "Works every time!" -
Knoebels Discussion Thread
palmerleeberry replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Well, I'm glad that the BLack Diamond is up and running, but I don't have any plans of running to Knoebels anytime soon. I still swore an oath to myself not to return to Knoebels until The Lying Turds was up and running. If I have to break that oath in a few years and return, then I may do so, but today I'll still keep to that oath. "Then how about swearing an oath to me, like I'll stop typing and go to bed more often?" -
Picture of the Jack Rabbit Logo?
palmerleeberry replied to DLDude's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Well, I don't have any pictures of the Jack Rabbit Logo, but I will admit that coaster is my favorite coaster at Kennywood and it lands in at #5 on the list of my all-time favorite coasters. No other coaster can do the double dip like the Jack Rabbit. "That's good, but can the Jack Rabbit put you to sleep once you lay your head down upon it? NOOO, it can't, so that's one up on me. -
Water country USA planning to double the size of their park? Holy (your favorite expression here)!!! I wonder if the park gets the OK it needs, what attractions are they planning to put in there? I remember first visiting the park in 1986 and my most recent visit in 2008, and there is a big difference between those visits. Back in 1986, Water Country USA was tiny compared to Water Country USA of today. Why, getting extra room will mean . . . do ya think? I hope so . . . maybe Water Country USA can finally get its own WATER COASTER!!! Why stop there, how about a Shoot the Chutes ride (that Noah's Ark in Wisconsin Dells has); or how about some rapid tubing rides that Schilitterbahn has so many of. Do you think they could beat the record that Schilitterbahn has and make the world's longest tubing ride? And the biggest question of all, will they put in an attraction that will cause me to drop everything, put on my water riding clothes, and go there? Oh, let the speculations commence. "You and those water rides. You dream so much about water parks I am considering exchanging myself for a plastic pillow!"

From Sandusky, With Love
palmerleeberry replied to Electerik's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'm sorry, but it's me again. About your comment concerning the Millennium Force as "the best roller coaster that will ever exist. A ride so good that it makes people fall in love, heals minor injuries, and makes kittens fart rainbows", I'll just have to say this - I think that was just as funny as my old late grandmother who got so excited on her birthday she begin to cry out, "Happy Birthday, Happy Easter, Happy wheelchair, Happy pumpkin, and Happy Pickles!" Makes kittens fart rainbows? I wonder why I can't get any roller coaster at KINGS DOMINION to do that? "I could fart rainbows too, if pillows could fart." -
From Sandusky, With Love
palmerleeberry replied to Electerik's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I loved your photo trip concerning Sandusky and Cedar Point. I only went once to Cedar Point during their Halloweekend and that place was so crowded they had a line for everything, if you wanted to take a deep breath you had to stand in line. Let me tell you - it was CROWD-ED. As I'm looking through your photos and reading your report, I don't see nor read any mentions about how crowded the park was that day. Was it really crowded on that day you visited, or was I just unlucky to visit Cedar Point on that day? One last thing: kittens farting rainbows? I have no comment on that statement nor can I give out a snappy reply. "I wouldn't talk if I would you. I wish you would fart rainbows, but you fart thunderstorms. I'm just so glad I cannot smell." -
Water Coaster VS Log Flume
palmerleeberry replied to dmaxsba2408's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I guesss it's time I put my two cents in concering the discussion about water coaster Vs log flume. So here is my take on the difference about the two. LOG FLUME - To me, a log flume ride consists of a boat-like apparatus that travels on a trough filled with water and gets lifted up by a conveyor belt system. WATER COASTER - As for the water coaster, the train you ride travels on tracks, even when the train touches down in water. Another difference would be ridership: A log flume can only handle up to four riders per boat while a water coaster train can have up to 32 (I think - since I've never ridden on a water coaster before). That's my take on the subject. "Don't look at me: I don't ride those things!" -
Holiday World (HW) Discussion Thread
palmerleeberry replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I had a choice last year: whether to go to Ocean City Maryland or to go west and visit a few parks, including Holiday World to ride a few of their newest water rides. With the fact that I haven't gone to Ocean City in fifteen years, plus the fact that Kentucky Kingdom might be reopened in 2012, I decided to go to Ocean City. Now seeing what Holiday World is debuting next year (not to mention I now have own a pair of water shoes), I believe I will be heading out west to visit Holiday World, Six Flags St. Louis, Six Flags Great America, and Indiana Beach (and take a day or two to visit my half sister who lives in Bloomington, Illinois). I wanted to add Kentucky Kingdom to the mix, but the way it looks right now, that park might not be open next year (but that is discussion for another thread). Last time I was at Holiday World, Pilgrim's Plunge wasn't operating, the Midnight Ride was the last ride I rode that night, and the two awesome-looking water rides were still on the drawing board. When I return to Holiday World next year, I'll have the three "R"'s in mind: Revisit, Ride, and Revenge! "As for me, I have three "R"'s for you: rest, rest, and rest!" -
Okay, here are the rides I've ridden in their debut. Now there are a ton of rides at Kings Dominion that I've ridden in their opeing seaon (rides such as The Grizzly (1982), the Shockwave (1986), the Hypersonic XLC (2001), and Intimidator 305 (2010). But Kings Dominion is my home park, so naturally I can be there to ride the rides in their opening year. Now, as for the other rides that I've ridden in other parks and on their opening year, here we go: Carowinds - Carolina Cyclone, Afterburner (aka Top Gun), and the Carolina Cobra. Kings Island - Son of Beast, the Backlot Stunt coaster (aka The Italian Job), and Diamondback. Cedar Point - Raptor, Millienum Force, Wicked Twister, Top Thrill Dragster, and Maverick Knotts Berry Farm - Pony Express Six Flags Great Adventure - Batman - the ride, Nitro, and El Toro I'm sure there were others, but these were the rides that stood out. If i could name all the rides I've ridden in there debut season, I'll be writing for nearly forever, and I believe someone is waiting for me. "You got that right, mister!"
