It's been awhile since I last left a post on this thread, and I should be more up to date on the progress of this coaster since this will be the first RMC coaster I will ride when I get there this upcoming summer. I was there when I rode my first X-flight and I want to be there to ride my first RMC. Plus to get a few more rides on Whizzer . . . Right now, the area I live in has been under a cold and windy spell for nearly two weeks, and it reminds me of the conditions those construction workers must work in order to get this coaster up and running. Right now, it doesn't look like much, but wait until springtime when everything warms up and the crews are putting in the final touches. When that warm air hits me, I just want to travel, but it won't be until late July by the time I get there. I hope it's worth the wait!

Kings Dominion (KD) Discussion Thread

As a holder of the Cedar Fair Platinum Pass, this looks like a special event that I cannot pass up. Surely you can complain how you don't have much ERT, but I see it differently; I have all season long to ride, but only this one special day to celebrate with Kings Dominion something that has been a part of my life for thirty-six years; who has been there with Hanna-Barbarra to Nickelodeon to Planet Snoopy; who has ridden the King Kobra, the Galaxi, and Hypersonic, and all three attractions at The Lost World; who has been there when it was Paramount Kings Dominion; who has seen rides come and go; and will be coming back this season as many times as I possibly can. kINGS dOMINION - BETCHA YOU CAN'T DO IT ALL!!! -

S&S Sansei Discussion Thread
palmerleeberry replied to Coaster Joe's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
After seeing the prototype in action, I was pretty amazed and would like to see that coaster inside several parks. However, as someone who has been to Kings Dominion for over thirty-five seasons, I recall another type of coaster from S&S called the Hypersonic XLC that only ran for several seasons and had too many downtimes, plus it wasn't a people-eater since each train only held up to eight riders. Still, there is another coaster in a another park that has that blast-you-over-the first-hill element that the Hypersonic once had - it is the Powder Keg at Silver Dollar City, also made by S&S. So I'm a little wary of how this coaster will work out. Still, I wonder how this ride will compare to X2 at Six Flags Magic Mountain. -
Knoebels Discussion Thread
palmerleeberry replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Boy Oh Boy Oh Boy . . . Just when I thought we were all through with all this speculation with Kentucky Kingdom, Kings Island, and Kings Dominion, now Knoebels have to make an announcement for 2015, thus letting all the new speculations commence. Will we see an old ride rebuilt and brought back to life? Will they move a defunct coaster from a defunct park into their park. Is it a coaster at all? And the most important question of them all . . . When will I return to the park? Okay, only I can answer that last question, but as for the others, I think we need to wait and see, wait and see . . . "Why should you speculate? Why don't you just sleep on it? You'll thank me later." -
As much as I like Boomerang coasters, to replace the Greezed with that would not be right because Greezed offers a different coaster experience compared with the Boomerang ( that would be like trying to replace the Rebel Yell coaster with the Grizzly at Kings Dominion - both are wooden coasters, but the Rebel Yell is a racing, out and back while the Grizzly is a figure eight - two different coaster rides ). As for what type of ride that could replace the Greezed I'm thinking the closest ride possible would be The Chiller. Another would be the old Python coaster that used to run at Adventureworld ( before it became Six Flags America ). Both coasters I wouldn't mind riding again. PLEASE DON'T BURN ME!!!

Kings Dominion (KD) Discussion Thread
palmerleeberry replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^Your guess is as good as mine, but whatever it is that they're doing I hope it speeds up the waiting time! I'm still buzzing with honey about the return of the Singing Mushrooms and the Flora Clock, but I just remembered something - Besides of having the Flora Clock I do remember of seeing gardens planted at the park's entrance and the colorful flowers arranged in such a way that they resembled cartoon characters. Now these were from the old Hanna-Barbera Days that featured Yogi Bear, Fred Flintstone, and Scooby Doo. I wonder if they will doing that again, but with Peanuts characters? kINGS dOMINION - BETCHA YOU CAN'T DO IT ALL!!! -
I have a few things I want to add: 1) Many thanks for Midgetman82 for the pictures, including two that featured The Roller Skater! For someone that cannot wait to ride that ride, plus a few other notable rides and waterslides, I greatly appreciated it. 2) Although Kentucky Kingdom will try to open Lightning Run on opening day, they could be unexpected delays; such as, bad weather, maintenance issues, construction workers not getting their sandwiches, etc. I just hope that by the time I visit Kentucky Kingdom they have that park up and running. 3) If T2 can get the same trains that Morey's Piers Nor' Eastern has, then I feel that would become the best ride in the park ( until the following year when they began to work their magic on Twisted Twins - mewonders if it would be renamed "Iron Twins" after they are done?). ROLLER SKATER - TAKE A RIDE AROUND OUR RINK!!!

larrygator wrote: The park used to have a family steel coaster called "Jet Star". That would be my vote if I were able to vote since I'm not a longtime visitor and only knew about Jet Star by referring to the roller coaster data base. Otherwise, keep everything you got! -
Knowing Six Flags America's track record when it comes to opening up new coasters, this one may not be ready until June ( I was tempted to say mid July, but this new coaster is a family-sized coaster that doesn't require much space and much of a structure to put up, so I think they might have it up and running sooner compared to a major thrill ride ). If they actually got this new coaster up and running by opening day, I would be really surprised.

^^I agreed with that second to last post and praying that . . . I don't get burned again!!! Seriously, I'm glad that some major parks ( that were Six Flags parks ) that were closed are now getting a new lease on life. While Kentucky Kingdom will be opening in May, Jazzland is still in limbo. If this new park does come a reality and opens in the near future, then that would be two out of three ( and according to Meatloaf - "Two out of Three Ain't Bad"). But then again, that song came out of the classic rock album Bat Out of Hell and that could mean . . . I could get burned again!!! Excuse me as I go hide under my bed. "Hey, if you going to lie under your bed, then take me with you. I can be of excellent company!

Kings Dominion (KD) Discussion Thread
palmerleeberry replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Kings Dominion, you are totally spoiling me with all those neat announcements and improvements that a long-time visitor such as myself would appreciate and enjoy. The return of the Clown Band, a paint job on the Anaconda, the return of the Coca-Cola Pizza Parlor, and all those other goodies just recently announced will surely make the 2014 season the one season that nobody would forget ( and the one season I would look around this park in awe and remember all those Kings Dominion trips I've taken in the past). There is one more day of Christmas left and still no announcement on whether or not the Rebel Yell would be repainted back into its original glory, or whether or not there will be a "Celebration" musical playing at the Kings Dominion Theater. And then there's that prospect of a ride returning . . . I know I have plans on returning on opening day, Saturday April 4, 2014; but to hear about the Kings Dominion 40th Birthday Bash on May 10, 2014. I gotta be there!!! Who knows what they may have planned for that special day, but I remember one trip many, many years ago when Kings Dominion tried to break the world's record for the largest game of musical chairs. I wanted to play, but I was with a church group and we had to leave. Perhaps they might try again? kINGS dOMINION - Betcha you can't do it all!!! -

"Holy Tall Towers, Batman! Are they really going through with this?" Well, that's what the man in the video said, and if they really built this, then who knows how many eXtra people will be changing their plans and go to Florida. But it's the second announcement that piqued my interest: they will be building the third tallest roller coaster in the world in Atlanta. Six Flags over Georgia is located west of Atlanta, so does this means that this park will be getting that ground-breaking coaster? I think I need to go to the toilet before I wet my pants again. -
Way back in 2010, I was at Six Flags Magic Mountain and in waiting line to ride Tatsu. Seeing how long the line was and how thirsty I was, I decided to overspend my dough and purchase a soft drink from one of the vending machines. Well, my drink did come out, along with two others! So I gave those two drinks away and drank the third for myself.

Man #1 - "Last night, I attended a roller coaster party." Man #2 - "A roller coaster party? What is a roller coaster party?" Man #1 - "A roller coaster party is a party that has lots of dips!" "You know, when you have someone who thinks about roller coasters night and day, then that person has a one-track mind!" Get it, one track, roller coasters? Nah, I'm going to bed!" -
I'm planning to visit Wisconsin Dells in 2014 which include flying in and out of Milwaukee, and I will definitely be visiting Six Flags Great America. Goliath looks like it'll be one wicked coaster, plus it'll be the first coaster of its kind that I've ever rode on ( Hades 360 will become #2 ) Just like X-Flight was the first wing coaster I've ever rode, Goliath will be the first RMC I've ever rode. And I want to ride Whizzer one more time!!!

Hersheypark (HP) Discussion Thread
palmerleeberry replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
When it comes to coasters, the biggest, tallest, fastest, and scariest roller coasters are the types I can go on. But when it comes to family and kiddie coasters, I don't know if they'll let me ride or not. Some parks have a maximum height while others will let you ride if you have a little kid with you. But I do know a few kiddie coasters that I have been able to ride by myself with no problems. So if I can ride this newest coaster without incident, then that's okay. BUT IF I CANNOT RIDE, THEN I'LL GRAB ME SOME CRAB FRIES AND TAKE A SLIDE DOWN THE MERRY BERRY DIP!!! -
^You know, I was thinking about that: Why is the exit line longer than the entrance? I guess it's the same question on why we park in a driveway and drive in a parkway. Maybe they might reconsider and swap the exit and entrance lines. I do love the new paint job. Nothing says "RIDE ME!!!" better when a ride gets a new paint job.

Kings Dominion (KD) Discussion Thread

Wow wee wow wow wow!!! Already the park had me sold on BLUE ICE CREAM , RUBY horse on the carousel, the return of the singing mushrooms and Floral Clock, and improvements for Volcano and Anaconda. Now they are offering free tours through Dinosaur Alive if you are a GOLD or Platinum season passholder ( And anyone who knows me and have been reading my recent post will know that I am a Platinum Season Passholder)? This is great. If Kings Dominion makes an announcement that they will be repainting the Rebel Yell back into its original color scheme, then I wouldn't care whether they will bring back a ride or not because they would have already brought back a classic coaster into its former glory. "Kings Dominion : Betcha you can't do it all!" -
I have heard the news about the two new rides that are being added to Six Flags America, but have waited until now before replying. This is definitely something this park needed, and it need it so badly. I haven't been to the park in several years even though I bought a Six Flags season pass in 2012 ( I bought it at Six Flags New England and used it at Six Flags over Georgia, Six Flags St. Louis, and Six Flags Great America ). but I believe that this year might be different as I might consider getting one at Six Flags America. One more thing to note: last time I was at Six Flags Great America I didn't get a chance to ride the Ragin' Cajun. This year, I will get to ride it, and more than once.

Okay, cue the sad violin music . . . Back in 1992, I lost my job at a poultry plant over some dumb situation. Even worse, I was suppose to go to Florida within a few days. I did have a second job with a pizza place, but that still wouldn't be enough to live on. So to help me forget those troubles and at least run away from my problems for a while, I went to Kings Dominion ( that was the season they debuted their brand new water park in an area that used to be known as Lake Charles ). I went there three times that year: first time after I lose my job, the second time after a found a new job with a security firm, and the final time during Labor Day Weekend. Those trips to Kings Dominion during that terrible time probably helped me keep my sanity and prevented me from going to an early grave by my hand. The following year, I did go to Florida!

^ Oh yeah, I like log flumes too, until you have one prankster who decided to put some quarters into all of the water guns and fire them all on you at once. "You poor thing; you being the victim of that?" Not really, I did that to some people that I though look like they were hot and in need to cool down. EDIT NOTE: The name of the log flume and the park where that log flume is located in has not been named due to the fear those mean old wet boys might found me and exact their method of revenge. -
Weird Coaster Facts

^Speaking about the Jack Rabbit at Kennywood . . . By using the hilly terrain, this coaster uses the least amount of lumber compared to any other wooden coaster. Also, this coaster is classified as a double out and back. ( This is me going down the Jack Rabbit's double dip drop)
