Wow, this takes me back. Although I never experienced Nut Tree first hand, hearing my mom and grand-ma talk about makes me wish I was around to experience it. When I saw that the huge facade was torn down a few years back, it was a bit of a shock but also sad because that was the point in which I knew I would never experience it. I have a feeling though that the new park will be more upscale and just wont have the same memories and charm the old one had. As itll be part of a mall/entertainment stop, I just dont see it having the same small-park family feel that it once did. And thanks for the link to the Traintown site. I remember going there when I was really young for a birthday party. I ws really into trains at the time and it was like paradise. I also remember the old tacky commercials on local tv for it. I cant seem to recall having seen them in the past few years as often, if at all, and thought it had just gone the way of Nut Tree. Ill make it a point to take my kids there one day if its still around.

USO was originally an attempt to bring some filming companies out to Orlando, but that plan never really happened so very few of the soundstages are used at USO. Back on topic though, Robb, when are you guys gonna announce your plans? Im ready to buy tickets now, but I need to know some dates. -

I hope I get a chance to go to Universal and see the 360 show before they convert all the equipment and software for HHN, just as a comparison. Should be interesting for me to see how they do it in USO. As its only my second HHN, I have only ever seen it done in IOA(and the backlot, which I assume they will use again). -
Does anyone do extreme or really cool sport?

I used to snowboard every weekend when I lived in the Oakland bay area, but since I moved to FL, i can only go when Im home for winter break. I miss skipping school fridays and mondays to dissappear into the mountains for a few days. I usually did backcountry and stayed off the trails as much as possible. Theres no talent required on the groomed trails, and you also dont have to deal with families and such in the trees. I have a picture somewhere, just cant find it. Cameras, as it seems, dont like snow and cold weather. -

I imagine its just like HHN's strong urging that its not a childs event. Six Flags probably just enforces a bit more. All these haunted house attractions are not made for children. While HHN wont prevent you from bringing your child (as made evident from a child at last years event I remember vividly), they give you a hint by not offering child tickets. Six Flags most likely considers those under 14 too young to handle some of the things they might see (and to prevent lawsuits). Halloween events at parks are generally NOT intended for children, so dont be 'that guy' and bring their children. Your just gonna end up paying those expensive phychiatrist(sp?) bills later. Now shame on you, back on topic of HHN awesomeness. *EDIT* I changed my sig and avatar finally. Can you tell im excited? -

Seeing as I live only 20/30mins away from USO/Disney respectfully, Ill deffinatly be going. Last year, I caught on to the trip a little late and didnt plan on going to any of the other events such as MNSSHP, but I will deffinatly try to go this year. Im already saving for the extra costs. Itll be right aorund the same time I have to upgrade my AP. This will be my 2nd HHN and so I havent experienced any of these mazes. I imagine they wont be exactally the same as when they were done before. I cant wait to see how this years event will be being in the studios. Im just hoping the TPR trip will be planned like last year with HHN on an off-peak day. Helps keep costs and crowds down. Heres a highlight from last year's trip..... French Dinosaurs -

I dont think I stopped thinking about it or telling my friends about it since I met up with the TPR crew last year. I still remember the whole day like it was yesterday, and I cant wait to do it again. I need to know as soon as possible when TPR plans to do their trip (if they do a trip?) so that I can buy tickets and express passes. I might even go for the frequent fear pass this year, but im deffinatly gonna do the express pass. Last year, I forgot to get one but I begged the ticket guy and he sold me one of the reserved ones. This year, Im planning ahead. Might even go with you all to MNSSHP depending on my school schedule. Ill miss class for HHN, but id have to think twice about disney. I would like mine changed to "HHN Enthusiast", as I plan to get a whole new sig and avatar after USO officially announces the HHN theme this year. Im so excited for this year's HHN, im seriously thinking of just putting myself in a coma until October.

I called USO to find out, as I have a power pass as well. They WILL NOT let you in to the passholder preview. Luckily, my friend has a Premium pass, so Im going as a guest. I wish I had known the let down that is the power pass. For the extra 60 bucks the premier pass, its deffinatly worth it. Im deffinatly going to upgrade to the premier when mine expires this septemeber.

Yup, I know I just did an IOA PTR a few days ago, but im doing another because, well, I live on Orlando and I have season passes! Anyways, today was my first day ever going to Seaworld here in Orlando. I havent been to the one in CA since I was younger, so really Im not going to do any comparisons. I started off the day going straight for Kraken, and im glad I did. I was one of the first in the park, and even walking briskly, there was quite a line by the time I was exiting. It was only one train operation, and I was hoping they would add another, but when I returned later, they still only one train with a long wait. BTW, what the hell is this supposed to be????? After my rather cold and windy ride on Kraken, I decided for some crazy reason to try out this Atlantis ride. Read again, cold and windy. I had no idea, so I proceeded to stupidly sit in the front row. I basically might as well have just hopped in the lake. I got so wet from the tidal wave coming over the front of the boat, I was freezing for the rest of the day. As for the ride itself, I was VERY dissapointed. The effects were horrible, and the whole thing reminded me of some sketchy fun house at a state-operated carnival. I guess it did its job though. I then proceeded to the Budweiser facility near the back of the park, which was actually very nice. It was empty because it was still the morning, but it was open so I got to walk around and read the history of Budweiser. They also have some impressive hardware on site. I decided to take some home for tonight. They also had a whole stable where they had several clydesdales(sp?) and yes, even the famous donkey! Then I hit up the Shamu stadium. Even though I didnt wait around for any of the shows at the park(I had class), I still walked down to the underwater viewing area. *Construction Update* I also walked by the new addition for this/next year, Shamu's Express. Absolutly nothing seems to have happened since Westcoasters update, but for the sake of being thurough, I submit this picture anyways. I then proceeded to the Wild Arctic exhibit, whch IMO was one of the best themed attractions in the park. Even though the ride simulator was a little cheesy and the film was poor, the 'arctic base camp' was really well themed, with a lot of details. They did a great job with blending the theme into the enviornments for the animals. There were also some very informative and very attractive women at each enclosure to answer questions you might have. Attractive women and beer? Im starting to like this place! (sorry for the blurry picture, its fairly dark in the building, so pictures didnt come out well. The place is awesome though) After that, it was time to head home to get ready for class. I was dissapointed in not being able to ride the Sky Tower, but the winds had picked up and they had closed it down after running all morning. But whats that? I spotted something that looks familiar.... Guy wearing TPR shirt! I didnt stop and say hi because I have no idea who they were, and they were with several friends, but it was funny to notice. Anyways, thats all from Orlando. -Thrasher

Im so mad my classes were rescheduled. I didnt get to meet up with you guys this time around. Im deffinatly doing HHN with you all this year. Last year was so much fun! I ended up going to IOA today though, just to get an update on the new ride for Screamscape and have fun with some friends. -
Try hosting it on putfile. Thats how I host all my videos, and its just as easy as hosting pictures.

IOA Photo Update 3/4/06
Thrasher replied to Thrasher's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Yea, I had walked past it and didnt even notice, then as I made a left to head to the lockers, it hit me that something wasnt right, so after looking for awhile, I finally figured it out. It completely changes the effect of going under the bridge, and IMO, improves the ride experience with the head chopper effect. And Soren, send me a PM when your going to go to IOA if you want to meet up or something! -
Hey guys. Its been a few months since Ive last been here because unfortunatly Ive been swamped with school work. I had a free weekend so I decided to head to IOA to see what was happening. This update is shorter than most because im going to spare you all the obligatory shots. So I headed to USO for a few quick rides on Mummy, and Jaws, which is now open. I didnt have a chance to ride it before it was rehabbed, but it seemed as if all the effects were working and it was a great show. After that, I headed over to IOA to check out how the new ride is coming along and to get some rides in on Hulk and Dueling Dragons. I decided to hit the park counter-clockwise, but starting of course with Hulk. It was to my suprise that they had extended the covering over the track under the bridge. The next few pics are of the new covering, which was done on both sides. It REALLY adds to the head chopper effect! The main update in the park had to be at Suess Landing though. There was a lot of work being done, and it was kind of distracting to the whole theme to see workers all over the roofs and scaffolding in pathways. They are repainting the roof of the Caro-suess-el and The Circus McGurkus Cafe, and they have begune re-painting Cat in the Hat. In addition, and by far the most confusing, they are repainting sections of the old track for the new ride, and other major portions are now removed. I had to go through the kid play area to get some of these pictures, so appreciate them! In addition, they were also doing more work on the entrances to the buildings. The entrance sign coming from Lost Continent is also MIA. I assume its being re-painted and fixed up. In the meantime, it was replaced by a two-sided banner. So I got my rides in on Duelign Dragons, whose wait times were the longest ive seen since I moved to Orlando. Dont forget Mardi Gras is still going full swing at the parks. There were signs, banners, posters, and beads all over the place, as well as a nifty stage. Thats all from Orlando! -Thrasher

If any coaster happens in IOA, the location is all but confirmed. There is a fairly large area to the left of the main path, right next to Dudley Do-Rights Ripsaw falls that screaming for a JP attraction. Its very possible that this area will have a coaster soon, as the only pull to this end of the park is JP:RA, and Terranadon Flyers or w/e its called isnt what I would call a crowd puller. Bottom line is the JP area has a lot of potential. The location im referring to is pictured in the bottom left of this photo. This seems to be taken when the giant hat was being refurbed.

They played this up on the news here for while. Its very good that she survived though. I second and third everyones notions of the death fairs. They just dont seem to have the responsibility that most park operators have, and their rides are always put together very quickly. No thanks! -

Well, there were bits where it was rougher than id hoped. I heard that this ride was good, so I had relativly high expectations. Im also a relativly big guy, so my knees kept hitting the hand-bars on the air-time. -
Well, I was visiting southern FL for Thanksgiving with relatives, and I decided to stop at Dania Beach on my way from Orlando to Ft. Lauderdale. I have driven past this park many many times while out here, but never really stopped to check it out. I started out getting lost on the way to the park. I guess all the signage had blown down, so I had absolutly no idea what street I was on at any given time. I just kept looking for the coaster and driving towards it. After I finally got there, I got lost again walking around the arcade area. For a multi-million dollar coaster, you'd think they would advertise it a bit more. I dont understand why they dont just offer all day rides. Does anyone actually buy 1-ride tickets? As you can see, it was packed. The guys in the station made me get up and walk all the way around each time even though nobody was waiting. I rode at least 5 times before anyone else showed up. I guess I know how it feels to have your own backyard rollercoaster! The ride was suprisingly rough, as evident in the POV I shot. To end the update, I included IMO the picture of the trip. I dont know why, but I like it a lot. -Thrasher

It works for me. The way gmail works sometimes is it blocks all images, then theres a link to activate and view the images. It worked fine for me though!

A billion dollars is a lot of money. Id probably buy a house and some nice cars, start my own production company, donate a bit to some charities, and put the rest in a foreign bank to avoid pesky taxes. One thing ive promised myself if I ever get a lot of money is to buy a tank and build a course for it so I can blow stuff up. Then when im done, donate the tank to charity!
