Halloween Horror Nights XVI
Thrasher replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
When I was talking to my friends a while back, they werent too excited, but now that the website is filling out, and showing them pics from last years event, I got a ton of people going with me. Ill probably be solo when I meet up with Robb & co, but I got a frequent fear pass so im going tons of times. With my new preferred pass, I got a frequent fear pass for $47! This year is shaping up to be a bit more affordable then last years last minute plans. I also already got my express passes. Dont be like me last year having to beg the guy at the ticket counter to sell me one from a reserved list, buy them early and online! -
New Universal Orlando Rumor...
Thrasher replied to obeygiant's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
From my understanding, the border of the park would be made smaller to cut off the nick building from the rest fo the park, much like how many of the soundstages already are. BTW, here are some pics that I took from last weekend showing that absolutly nothing is going on, but should provied for good before and after pics. Im guessing that if this does happen, construction will start after this year's halloween events are over. Looking from close to USF entrance towards HR, where the proposed BMG path would connect to City Walk. The path inside the park from HR looking towards the entrance, with the nick building on the left and the other side of the planter thing on the right. (This is the area that would be fenced off) The current Nick building. -Thrasher -

I recently got a mailer about the Premier Pass, and at first I thought it was too good to be true, but then I found the fine print and it is. Heres the deal. If you have a Preferred pass, then what they are offering you is an UPGRADE, not a new pass. The fine print states, in more legal terms, that the $100 upgrade is only good till the original expiration date of your preferred pass. In order to have that pass by itself, you would need to pay the full price of around $250. Still a decent deal. I like the free unlimited Valet parking option. CoasterEricHP, do you have any sources for the Dragons info? Id like to check them out. -

Went to the park yesterday to ride mummy and snap some pics. The best ones are up on today's update on Screamscape, but the rest can be found at this link: http://s105.photobucket.com/albums/m232/HalloweenHorrorNights/HHN%2016/ Since I was lazy during uploading, you can also see a few pics of the Nickelodeon building still sitting dormant(probably HHN house inside) and some construction in the Dueling Dragons queue (for those familiar with the queue, its the dungeon scene right before 'Choose thy Fate'). -

Yea, the way they worked it last year is that the stay and scream participants were held up in the rat race(run, etc.) area(in USO). Then when the houses opened, they snaked through 4 houses immediatly all in the soundstages. Hence if you have a stay and scream, you complete close to half the houses with no lines, which leaves the rest of the night for waiting. Ive decided to buy a frequent fear pass, since i dont like the idea of going on a peak night. I also have a preferred pass, so I think I automatically get stay and scream. Then Ill buy the express passes for the 19th, and another date when im going with some other freinds. That should work out best for me financially. I think im gonna call the pass office and talk with them. -
Theme Park Review's 2007 Group Trips!
Thrasher replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I was really hoping to make it to the Japan trip, but seeing some of the deposit due dates is a little too early for me, especially as a college student. It looks like im going to have to pass on this group of trips, but maybe next time. -
Im from CA and am just laughing at all the news coverage of this. I didnt feel it, but all of the news outlets are making huge coverage of this to the point of "ZOMG theres gonna be a tsunami!!11!1!eleventyone". I experienced the 1989 loma prieta, and have felt various others through the course of my life, and its funny that people here are freaking out about it. From the sound of it, most barely felt it.

Back To The Future - Universal Orlando is it closing?
Thrasher replied to EvilSpideyDude's topic in Ask Alvey
Finally. The BTTF concept was tired out, and the attractions are deffinatly aging. Im glad to see them gettin taken out for something else. An attraction like this was cool in the early 90's, but not today. -

I go to a media industry tech school called Full Sail in Orlando. Im studying to be a lighting technician with a bachelor degree in Entertainment Business. I want to work live shows and corporate events. Could never see myself sitting in a cubicle with tie on. *shudders*

On a peak night such as a Saturday, its hard to see all of HHN. As far as discounts go, USO is very straightforward with their ticket prices. Call them and see if there are any current or seasonal savings right now. Click Here for Universal Contact #s. If you order online, you usually save some money as well.

I think that once actual construction starts and things start appearing at the parks, more people will gain interest. In the next few weeks, Im going to brave USO during a weekend to see if anything has appeared in the parks. Ill keep ya posted. -

Ive decided this year to buy the frequent fear pass. Its about as expensive as a regular ticket. Im waiting to see what sort of discounts I can get with a Coke can. Last year, we went on a thursday and it saved me $24! If I get a frequent fear pass, I can buy an express pass on the night you guys come down, if you will be coming. I also plan on attending a few other nights to experience the whole thing, watch the vids in line, and spend some time with some friends coming into town. Im still undecided as to if I want to go Halloween night. Itll be crowded for sure, but last year on the actual night, I sat around with my gf watching scary movies and waiting for the trick or treaters that never came. Anyone make any plans yet? *EDIT* Just noticed on the site that there is an 'Exclusive' Tour available for groups, which is custom tailored to what you want to see, but includes all houses, the show, and possible rides. This might be an option if a good sized group of us all go one night. I know R&E got the hook ups though haha. -
PGA's Train for sale?
Thrasher replied to V2-dude's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
You can still see a section of where the track used to be from the Top Gun queue, but they finally removed the old wooden bridges and such. I remember it when I was really young, but I dont remember the exact year it stopped operating. The pictures deffinatly say Great America, but what is it doing in FL? -
Paramount Parks after Cedar Fair Acquisition
Thrasher replied to Dr.Zaius's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Quoted for truth. IMO, and having never been to any other Paramount parks, PGA is severly lacking in the thrill department. Granted thrills dont neccesarily bring in the money (real money is in families, look at Disney), the former ownership of PGA was actively removing thrill rides for a tamer atmosphere, seemingly no longer in competition with SFMW up the road. Im not asking for PGA to become the next SFMM, but at least a few flats would be nice. PGA doesnt really have a lot of space around it to expand anyways.
