And depending on the crowds and if it's a local football team, it would most likely be the types of crowds we would want to steer clear of as we would see GP-ness of epic proportions. People like to riot for no apparent/real reason in the bay area when it comes to their team completely getting shafted or some other unfortunate event that doesn't directly affect them but feel they're part of it. I believe this has happened during a couple Super Bowls...The main one that's coming to me right now was back in 2004(?) when the Raiders made it and got slaughtered. The bay area (Oakland) was not a pretty site to see. But again, these are Raider fans, football's most notorious/rowdiest fans of all the NFL. When the stadium's all erected (haha!) I can see epic bid wars between different parties for that year's host for the Super Bowl, and I'm pretty sure Santa Clara will want to really push at it. Good luck Santa Clara neighbors, you complain about noise and chaos from a single roller coaster... well you may have it coming and not from a coaster! That is a once in a long while event (A Superbowl) as well as the neighbours are all businesses -and thus, closed on weekends when the stadium would be in heavy use... so noise wouldn't matter then. The noise issues will be a problem now and infinitum. And they will plague any large-scale rides at Great America- now and infinitum. Your negativity is all that keeps this thread alive. Here's a very bittersweet thank you. -

What makes you think that Matt couldn't do the same? Perhaps not on the scale of Imagineers, but still something similar exclusivley for Cedar Point. Not guaranteeing that would happen, but I don't think we should rule out the possibility of a former Disney exec doing something great that has never been done before. Matt and Kinzel are very difference people, I don't think things are really going to remain the same once Matt takes over. Just my two cents. -
I don't thing there's anything to get upset about here. The sleds lasted for an extraordinarily long time. I'm honestly suprised that the trains even lasted even close to that long. So I don't believe there's anything to be up in arms over finally getting rid of trains that have been operating for what... 37 years now? I agree with the person who said be happy that they lasted as long as they did.

It's even more funny how you failed to realize that you were indeed setting yourself for another argument. This is obviously a touchy subject and it seems that you've been here long enough to realize that. I mean come on, did you seriously expect another talk about "Mr.Kinzel" to not draw ANY reaction at all, none? Seriously? After ALL the debates that people have had about this (that I know I've certainly had something to do with in some of them) and make their points, and then not say anything when the same "issue" is brought up again. It's this reason why a whole new thread was created just for this one subject (whether we should all hate Dick Kinzel for closing down GL.) So with all that in mind, DON'T start another argument like this that many people (probably myself as well) will likely get in to by stating something along the lines of -

One of the main reasons why I stopped liking Mr. Kinzel is because he made the final decision to close down my home park (Geauga Lake). Some of you probably knows what it feels like to have your home park close down. I'm not saying this to start another debate about anything or to get into any arguments. I'm just saying that there are reasons, like this one, of why people don't like him. And these "people" who don't "like" him are ignorent. What you and certain other people need to reealize is that all of these amusement companies are businesses. Six Flags, Cedar Fair, Disney, Universal are all in the business to make money. Their first priority (like any business) is to ensure that they are financially healthy. Does everybody have to like their decisions? No, of course not, and there's never going to be one company that makes the absolute best dicision. This is a fact that not enough enthusiasts realize. People *ahem* enthusiasts who say "DICK KINZEL IS THE DEVIL!!1!! HE CLOSED DOWN GEAGUA LAKE!!!! WHY, HE'S JUST AS HIS NAME SUGGESTS, HE'S JUST A BIG DICK!!" and so on and so fourth, are people that really fail to understand this. Dick Kinzel didn't close down Geuaga Lake just to piss off everyone in Eastern Ohio (althought that seems to be exactly what some people believe.) He closed it down because it couldn't profit with two other parks nearby that were way out of its league. So people who basically say that Kinzel is horrible because of one or two decisions that he made really don't know very much and how the amusement industry runs or more importantly, how businesses are run. You can't look at Kinzel as a single person when running a business, you have to looks at the business perspective. Now, of course there are some things that Kinzel didn't do right even from a business perspective (Paramount Parks) but when it comes down to it, most (NOT all) of his decisions DID make sense from a business standpoint which in the end, is what he was trying to do. He was trying to run a business, not impress us per se, but just attract customers to their his parks which he has succeded at. -

I haven't laughed that hard in quite a while. Thank you. LOL! Did you notice at how well she could spell "Millennium"? Becuase if the stadium didn't exist, Cedar Fair would ____________________________ (fill in the blank) Well, not actually 100% true, yet, nothing has been confirmed by anybody. So at this point they are just "likely" possibilities. I do not expect the user you're trying to explain this to will fully grasp that "concept". -

Even so, they should at LEAST get a clue by what other people are clearly saying about it. There's plenty of coverage on here that Girzzly continues to get smoother with each season thanks to the re-tracking job that the park is doing. Even if I hadn't ridden Grizzly since say 2006, I would at least get a clue and trust that what other people saying on here is true and not come out with an opinion of exactly the opposite when haven't even ridden the damn ride in five years. Do you see what I'm saying? It shouldn't be so hard to understand that a ride has gotten smoother when it's been communicated very clearly through here. Please ride Ghostrider and Mean Streak in the back (which you obviously didn't do) and then talk to me. I'm serious. The funny thing is, I rode Mean Streak in the front row of the back car. I wasn't really reffering to Mean Streak when it comes to roughness as much as I was with Ghostrider. Mean Streak is tolerable if you don't get a wheel seat. Forgive me, but when I rode it in 2010, it was semi-smooth in the front, but rough as hell in the back. It could easily have changed in a year, but that's how it was when I rode it last time. At least Cedar Point is actually re-tracking some of the ride unlike Knott's Berry Farm is with Ghostrider. But seriously, you have to try Ghostrider in the back, it's the most painful, but it's worth it! Some people simply can't handle rides of that extent, but that I can see why, it's not as enjoyble however it could, I will say that. The trims really killed it, but it's still a good ride. -

I just love this "arguing" and going back and fourth between the nay-sayers and the people who think the park might go somewhere. Please continue the show, it entertains me greatly. I think that is the first time I have ever seen those words used in a sentence....lol Wow. You seriously think that Roar is SMOOTHER than Grizzly?! If you listened to anyone else who have talked about that recently, you'd know that it's a much smoother ride than Roar*. I don't know where anyone gets the idea that Grizzly is rough... It's the smoothest wooden coaster in NorCal! Seriously? You have to be joking. It's hated becuase to some people, it doesn't DO much, they DON'T hate it because it's "rough". If you think Grizzly is rough, you would quite literally die on Roar, Ghostrider, Mean Streak, Giant Dipper.. I could go on ALL DAY if you'd like, just go ahead and keep calling Grizzly rough. *Corrected -

2011.. What was your highlight?
ABW replied to Chroniq's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
You know, 2011 only had two good momories for me as far as this goes. -TPR Day at CGA -My first WCB visit to SFMM As far as I'm concerned, you could roll back all of my memories of 2011 in these two days. I wasn't having any of this year aside from the mentioned events. Not only was this year pathetic right of the bat, but it looks even MORE pathetic after considering how amazing 2010 was (30 new credits!) So I'm ready to move on, because I will have very recollection of this year once it's over /Rant -

This HAS to be Leviathan. It doesn't take much searching around this forum to figure out that he dislikes it and I haven't seen him "diss" any other ride as much. -
