I didn't find any of those rough actually, and I just went on 3/4 recently. Boomerang is only a little rough in the front row, Vortex is a little head-bangy, Revolution I've always found to be very smooth, and Mean Streak was never rough for me. It's actually quite interesting, I went on Kong, at SFDK, nearly no head banging, only rough a little bit after the sidewinder! It was the smoothest I've seen it ever, not that it has ever been terribly rough to me. If anything, Grizzly, at CGA is likely the roughest coaster in the entire world. I live about ten minutes away from SFDK. I can say I agree with you on Kong, as it's actually quite smooth. Mean Streak is neither really boring or really rough. Not fun at all. Vortex has a very painful ending, but he rest is smooth. Grizzly is very smooth, and currently my second smoothest wooden coaster. Boomerang just isn't enjoyable like Kong is. Boomerang at Knott's is WAY smoother and better than at SFDK. Gemini is actually quite rough also. Revolution's third drop is hell pretty much. Viper at SFMM gets such a bashing from enthusiasts and isn't even that bad. Alexander "roughness is varied" Walder

California Great America (CGA) Discussion Thread
ABW replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
While I don't know how Thrust Air would end up at Great America (although having an 80 mph launch coaster in Northern California would be quite an appeal), both coasters would bring in something the park really needs: attendence. Stealth, is the ride that brought the park in three (3) hour lines. The tagline "Northern California's only flying coaster" made it the star attraction of Northern California. They took it out, and guess what happens? Attendence drops. So while you may joke about how those weren't great rides (which is your opinion, and I respect it), it's just not the bottom line for the theme park. Having those rides at Great America today would, at least give a better variety of experiences. -
I'd rather have my Panda Express delivered to me by a Panda, or a Donkey.

It just blows me to pieces that, then PGA would take out their most popular ride, and just send it to a park that never really needed it. It was known as the best ride in Northern Califonia. Paramount's sure mad some horible decisions back then that costed them alot of attendence. -
I think the best achievements are this: Intamin's hydrolic launch accelerator coasters- They've gotten us past 100 mph, and the 400 foot barrier, as well as providing VERY good launches. GCI, GG, and Intamin are all taking the term "wooden coaster" to the next level, and the companies themselves are just getting better and better. B&M flying coasters- They provide an experience that really makes you appreciate a the park's terrain (or parking lot in some cases). They're some great fun as well. B&M 2nd generation Diving Machines- I'm talking about Griffon, and Skeikra. Not Oblivion! These rides have great features, and provide some amazing experiences. Launch coasters in general- The launches on launch coasters themselves have gotten way better, and are becoming more and more of a focus in the amusement industry. Overall, I'm giving this decade to Intamin. They have some of the best coasters in the world, and have been incredibly innovative this decade.

On a Saturday, your going to have to stand in one or two hour lines for the best rides. Unless you want to do that, I'd reccomend that you just get a regular flash pass. On a Sunday, it will be much better and you shouldn't need a flash pass. Really, I'd try to avoid a flash pass unless it really looks that crowded. As you know, flash passes are not cheap, and should be a last resort.

California's Great America or Knott's Berry Farm?
ABW replied to iplf's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I've been to both and let me tell you, Knott's is so much better. It has better theming, has better rides, and just a more enjoyable atmosphere. Despite what some have said, I personally think that Knott's has a great atmosphere. Flight Deck is a great ride and is in my top 15, but Xcelerator is even better and in my top 10. Both parks have standout attractions, Xcelerator is easily the best ride in the park, and same with Flight Deck for California's Great America. So overall, Knott's is the best choice. -
CoasterRadio. Six Flags Discovery Kingdom or California's Great America? <= This may have already been asked. I'm sorry if it has.

The Big Bad Wolf wasn't amazing on it's own, but for a suspended coaster it pretty much was the king (in the U.S. anyways). When I rode it back in 2007, I still thought it was a great ride. Sure, it wasn't as good as Griffon, Alpengeist, or Apollo's Chariot but it was still very unique. Since it was my first suspended coaster, I didn't know what to expect it until I rode it. I remember the drop after the second lift was great (even with the trims) and really took advantage of the parks landscape. When I rode Ninja just one month later, I didn't have nearly as much fun as the Big Bad Wolf. From there on, I missed the ride which I will now never be able to ride again. It's pretty hard to compare any existing suspended coaster to Big Bad Wolf. I'm sure Eagle's Fortress was better, but it looks like that will be going now also. So in short, while it was in operation people enjoyed it but most people never payed way too much attention to it. Now that it's gone, people now realize it really was a great ride.

Biggest Disappointment of 2010?
ABW replied to SharkTums's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
For me CGA being ignored is one of the biggest. Just because CGA got it's best ride removed 6 years ago dosen't mean that now the park has to get mediocore (for the most part) flat rides that are put in once in a million years. Other than that: Six Flags budget cuts, InTRIMidator, and Shoot The Rapids are pretty dissapointing also. But most of all, Will Koch's death. He seemed like such a great guy and has done so much for Holiday World, and has become a star of the industry right up to his death (he still is). -

How can I get to Magnetic Stators in the game once it's downloaded. Also, what folder must I place it in? -
Blue Streak, and Mantis at Cedar Point, Ninja and Viper at SFMM, and Flight Deck at CGA.

California Great America (CGA) Discussion Thread
ABW replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I couldn't agree more. CGA is the red headed stepchild of these former Paramount/Cedar Fair park. The park could take out Grizzly, they know very well that it's the worst wooden coaster in the world and yet, they couldn't seem to care less. Could someone explain why Cedar Fair hasn't invested in Great America compared to other former Paramount parks. I'd rather someone explain here than go through every page in this thread. -
^It's not gang infested like it use to be. I don't think you should run into any negative encounters with the guests. As for the staff, some are better than others but I also doubt that you will be having any problems with them either. The staff at SFMM these days are pretty nice. WCB is going to be sweet!!!
