  1. Really like Taylor but definitely did not think that Chris would be going home. Thought it would be him and Taylor in the finals.... heard the fans are demanding a recount?? Could we have a sing-off in our future???? Shari
  2. LOL.... I knew you guys would know which park and which rides..... we just got done watching Wednesday's episode. We had to TIVO because Samantha had her spring concert that night. Yeah BJ and Tyler!!! Shari
  3. Four years ago my 23 year old niece was killed by a drunk driver... a 22 year old Sheriff's Deputy, off duty and plastered. He was also killed. It is so hard to deal with for all involved, when young people lose their lives to senseless accidents. I think back to my "younger days" and I am ashamed for the times I got behind the wheel when I shouldn't have. You just don't realize how impaired you are. I am sorry for the loss of your classmates. Shari
  4. What the hell is that looping coaster?? I agree that scary is the correct word. Is that a kiddie ride? Another fun TR from Julie!! Shari
  5. Thanks Chrissie... Hey, where are you going to be working at WDW?? We are coming in August (barring no massive hurricanes) and I will be sure we say Hi! Shari
  6. yeah for me!!! Shari "ok, I can go to bed now" Shoufler
  7. Thanks to everybody for their help.... the past couple of weeks have been hectic and tonight I finally got the chance to mess around a bit with things... hopefully, if I have done things correctly, there should be some pictures of my daughter, Sammi. She was a model for the American Girl Fashion Show last week! Shari "still looking through the viewfinder" Shoufler My little American Girl
  8. 1) I was born when my sister was 19 and my brother was 18. Same set of parents, no "halves". 2) I was in congestive heart failure when I was 36 weeks pregnant and almost had to have open heart surgery. My daughter and I are both fine. 3) My favorite Broadway musical is "Cats" 4) I became a great-aunt when I was 23 years old. 5) My favorite restaurant is the "Old Spaghetti Factory" Shari "Good God, I am dull" Shoufler
  9. Robb... you a sooo bad. Elissa, I am with you... I hate take off. I always figure if something is really wrong with the plane, this is when they are going to find out. Shari "feeling better now about driving to Florida in August" Shoufler
  10. Busy reading today's news about the big gangsta rap shooting on I-75 here in Cincy, when this caught my eye: http://www.channelcincinnati.com/travelgetaways/9151864/detail.html Sorry to say this sounds like what some feared would happen, but I can't gauge by the article... is this going to be the whole ride or will their be a "non-spinning" section? Is this even possible??? Shari
  11. Well, first of all, you don't know my sister.... LOL Second, the whole reason she freaked out and ran back up there was because she was concerned that, since the park employee was so emphatic about the fact that you MUST have your picture on the pass, if she didn't get back there fairly soon she might have more of a hassle if she went back a month from now and tried to use her pass. Like I said, you'd have to know my sister. And as for why the free tix were such a good deal, well, my sister has 5 kids, 6 grandkids and a husband who is dying of cancer who she did not buy a pass for this year, for obvious reasons. The tickets will not go unused. Anyway, it sounds like from everyone's posts that some PParks are doing it, and some aren't. And I don't know anything about the biometrics or whatever was said, because we didn't have to do that last week at all. I just thought it was interesting, especially since there was no advance info to passholders about it. Shari
  12. Thanks..... I will pass this on to my hubby and we'll try these suggestions!! I appreciate your help!! Shari "Glad these cameras still have a viewfinder" Shoufler
  13. Just had to share this story, especially if it saves any Paramount Parks passholders from the confusion and general p---ed-off-ness that my poor sister went through today.... First, a little backstory... my family (older sibs, their kids, my mom, etc) have all been either A) PKI passholders and/or B) PKI employees forever. And, for as long as there have been season passes, their have been season pass pictures. That is, until this year. When I bought my PKI gold pass back in the fall, I was photographed and had my picture (the worst one I have ever had taken) printed on the pass. However, last weekend, when I bought and processed Sammi's pass, they took her picture but it was NOT printed on the pass. I was a little surprised and I asked the employee what the deal was. She said they were no longer printing them on the cards; that they were captured on the computer and when you scan your pass at the gates, it comes up on the employee's screen. Unbeknown to me, my older sister went up to the park to be processed last weekend, also. Apparently, there were some teenage girls ahead of her who were acting up in line, and it was taking forever for her to get up and be photographed. When she was done, she just signed her pass, stuck in in her purse and went on home. It wasn't until she got there that she realized her pass had no picture. She asked a friend of hers about it, and she (like me) had been processed last fall, so she told my sister that her family's passes also had pictures. Well, today my sister called the park and got an uniformed employee in the info center (where my sis and I used to work) who told her that her pass needed a photo. My sister (who always has to do everything RIGHT NOW) jumps in her car and drives up to the park (a 20 mile drive) stands in line and then finds out that they are no longer putting pics on passes. She was ticked!! They have no signage in the processing center telling people that this is the way passes are being done, and clearly the staff making the passes are not pointing this out. Now, obviously, sis is the exception to the rule in that she didn't go into the park, so she didn't use her pass immediately, but still, the park is not doing a real good job of informing people of their new procedure. Even the info center didn't know that they weren't printing pictures on the passes anymore. I ended up calling Guest Relations on my sister's behalf (she's too nice to complain-not me!!) and I got her three free tix for her trouble. But I thought I would pass this along to any other Paramount passholders out there so that you would know this before you go and get processed!! Shari
  14. So sorry Dave and Mary..... Our pets are such special friends.
  15. I totally agree with Robb and the others that the sensationalism surrounding all of the recent Disney incidents has been crazy. It's as if the media is hell-bent on smearing Disney's "good name". I also agree (and posted the same on the other M:S thread) that people make an automatic assumption that if it is a ride/attraction on Disney property, it is safe for all ages and physical conditions. I personally will bypass M:S on my August trip. Not because I think it is a "KILLER RIDE", but because, with a pre-exisiting condition, I don't think it is in my best interest to tempt fate. I have read of many people basically feeling like crap after they have rode it, and the reality is I don't want to risk that when I have waited five years to get back to WDW. Shari
  16. Hey gang.... I need help!!! As some of you know, I have finally moved into the 21st century and got a digital camera (thanks to my hubby, Herb!) I have taken some photos this week while Miss Sammi and I were traveling, and I am ready to post them, however, they are too big to post here. We have several programs that I can use- Microsoft PictureIt!, Kodak's Easyshare program that came with the camera (I got a Kodak Easyshare Z650) and some HP program, but we don't know what the heck we are doing. I am open to any or all suggestions.... Many thanks, Shari "I finally got a digital camera but still can't post here" Shoufler
  17. OMG!!! Ok, it a way, that's almost sacreligious to me, but I do have to admit it was pretty funny!! Shari "I own 'Song of the South', but not THAT version"Shoufler
  18. Bravo Robb for finding this.... I just sat here laughing and shaking my head. I agree...awesome and pathetic all at the same time!!!
  19. I remember waaayyy back when they knocked around the idea of a "Boardwalk" park.... they later build the Boardwalk resort, but Paradise Pier at DCA is actually what I remember them saying the WDW was going to be like. I still think I would like to see something like that..... I agree with Julie though... where do you draw the line. As it stands right now, it's tough for the middle income folks like me to afford anything beyond about 4-5 days, and that is barely enough for the four existing parks. Shari
  20. Our Avatar (PKI) ride is billed as a family coaster, 44" height requirement, and you don't sit on those funky "bike" seats. Heading to the park in the morning (so long as this stupid storms stop) so I will let you all know what it's like!! Shari
  21. OK.... now I am officially ticked off. Cincinnati is the BIGGEST market in the US for Survivor and PGA gets this ride and while we got a bright orange kiddieland??? How fun this looks (It looks an awful lot like our new "Avatar" coaster, so maybe we won't get a grown up version...grrr). And isn't Katie a sweetheart? I didn't like her on the show, but I really enjoyed meeting her in person at a fundraiser last fall. Shari "The Tribe has spoken, I want this ride at PKI" Shoufler
  22. Ok... first of all, does everyone have to keep posting other's long posts into their own long posts??? Just wondering? Secondly, I think this comment speaks volumes: One thing that needs to be brought up that hasn't is this: Disney, hands down, attracts a larger, more varied crowd of people than any of the more traditional US amusement parks. Whole families save for years to make a pilgrimage there, and they pay a premium price to experience Disney. I am sure there are lots of people who get there and throw caution to the wind so that they can "get their money's worth" etc, knowing it's not likely they'll be back in a week or a month or whatever. For folks like Robb and Elissa, or Deb Wills at WDWIG, or even my good friends here in Cincy who have a share in the DVC, you go down several times a year and you take your time, see the newest things, don't push yourself, etc. But for the rest of this, there is a sense of urgency that you have to get their and push yourself to see it all and do it all. Clearly there are people who are out there who are walking time bombs. I could be one. Any of you could, too. The right set of circumstances can throw an aneurysm, trigger a heart attack, etc. You have got people who have driven/flown long distances, been stressed and excited, are exhausted from walking and heat....... And people just don't stop to think. If Disney is to blame for anything (and I say this tongue in cheek because I am as big a Disney-lover as there is and I buy into ALL the hype!!) it's the fact that every attraction they open in every park around the world is hyped to point of ridiculous that everyone, everywhere needs to get to the park RIGHT NOW and ride it!! I don't see Cedar Point advertising for grandparents to come bring the grandkiddies and ride TTD. Just my two (or maybe three) cents worth..... Shari
  23. Yeah "Scott Peterson" is gone!!
  24. ^^ LOL I feel like a broken record, but I totally agree that people simply have to be responsible for themselves. After everything I have read about the ride, I had already decided I would pass on this attraction when I visit the park this summer. I doubt I would DIE, but the chance I could end up not feeling well and spoiling my trip is just not worth it. My opinion is that people assume that all Disney attractions are "It's A Small World" and that's no longer the case. Shari "People: read the guidebook" Shoufler
