Kennywood (KW) Discussion Thread
OISU8P replied to DenDen's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Well, there have been many rumors flying around about Pitt Fall being removed due to maintenance issues. Looks like this may be a sign that it could be true.(Original source from kpconnection). http://www.facebook.com/pages/International-Rides-Management/15915141743203 -
Well that all makes sense now that he said Oct 21. I am going to sell my house today and send him my money.... After-all, that date shares the same day German forces surrendered to American forces at the "Battle of Aachen" in WW2. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Selected_anniversaries/October_21 It is all coming together now.

Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread

I would not have agreed 10 years ago, but do now.... Amazing how we grow older and we look at these rides a little more. That is probably one of the rides I miss at The Point in my top ten list. -

^ Probably has to do with a combination of the weather and staffing. The weather has been cool and wet, thus not many people would ride it this early in the season. They most likely have also not received the bulk of their staff from colleges yet. Being seasonal, they rely heavy on that crowd for full operations. I believe finals at most colleges are this week or next. After that it should be full staff and operations, where the rides are able to operate. Who knows what is going on with Huss on MaxAir and Mondial on Windseeker though. -

How about degrading to women in a country that supports freedom for all. I was at my local waterpark today and two women in these things had them on in the Wave Pool. I could not understand what their husbands (owners) where saying. However, it sure as hell looked like they where getting permission to go in and getting yelled at to get out when the husbands thought they had enough. They moved out of the water quickly too. Screw culture, that is just plan wrong in this country. I have a daughter and the thoughts of her ever having to go through that would make me drop that "culture" quickly..... Not to turn this thread into something else, but you brought it up after many pages.... -
basically spent part of the day laughing my A$$ off at these people. Then decided to start doing something productive. I found this guy and being the capitalist that I am, I am now trying to figure out how I can profit the next time. Maybe I can charge them to maintain there Facebook pages after they get raptured. http://eternal-earthbound-pets.com/ This guy got thousands of people sending him money. I am trying to figure out how to make money off these fools for the 2012 prediction. I figure, it could not hurt. I am so far down the list if it happens making money off these fools is a win win Robb, you should charge them for advertising next round on your website. You can tell them that by paying you the message will get to thousands upon thousand of roller coaster enthusiast. After it it is up, we can then poke fun at it. Maybe you can even have a contest. Rounded out the remainder of my day swimming in my pool, watching "Revenge Of The Sith" (just got this on DVD again after losing it a few years back) while drinking beer. I was going to give my wife one last pickle tickle prior to the end, but I drank to much beer and feel asleep... Oh well, she has maybe tonight now that it did not happen. Rapture 2012 is coming to you on Dec 21, 2012. Lets make money..... http://www.december212012.com/articles/general_information/Judgment_Day.htm

PRINCE DESMOND'S BIG DIPPER COASTERS
OISU8P replied to PRINCE DESMOND's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Thanks Robb for the complement, that means much for me from the true master of sarcasm and having a true sense of humor in the amusement industry. TPR Members: On a side note, I still have one table and three left. If anyone can find Kiwi and Kat's address, I will send them also a nice little letter with one each. Yes, I like to kick the dead horse of stupidity.... It is entertaining after a work week of realism. --- Looking at asking my wife to get me a Club TPR membership for Fathers Day---- -
PRINCE DESMOND'S BIG DIPPER COASTERS
OISU8P replied to PRINCE DESMOND's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Oh Happy Days are here and my item has arrived.... I got one extra and was thinking on what I could do with it. I was thinking the Prince is a nice and Mr Kinzel has been getting beat up lately. I figured I would give Mr Kinzel a nice present on behalf of Prince Desmond. I however cover my identity so that he does not hunt me down and kick me out of his parks if I go to them this summer. The glorious package from TPR Here are my coasters. Ready to ship off to Mr Kinzel with a special note. Contents of the letter are here: Deer Mister Kenzel: I am friend of Great Prince Desmond of Nigeria. He tied to purchase dipper rollercoast a few months back. This turned out to be scam from other type coaster company we thinks. Prince though believes in making lemonade out of sour setuation. He knows you personaly mean no harm to dipper coast. Prince nows Kat and Kiwi had same chance as rebel to take over Abuju from him as there chance on saving dipper. He wishes to extend olive branch to you and give you one of coaster he got. Please exept this gift and keep table in office safe from drink. Pleaese enjoy and wish your parks the warmt of a million suns this summer. Prince Desmond Jones Associate Here is pictur of me and prince for wall Ready to go.... I hope he actually get it.... Now I just need need those two morons (Kat and Kiwi) addresses to send them a nice package... -
Looks like they rolled over for the Pepsi challenge again. I have much time on my hands with traffic on my commute to work each day and have an idea. This may not be the best idea for this park and may be straight out dumb. I however grew up in the area and can see this as a possible solution. I however would have no idea on how to even start the proposal and have no interest in doing so. I after-all am not Kat and Kiwi. PA does not have an official State Fair. This is a prime location for a one month fair in the summer. How about demo all of the old structures and create a fair ground. Keep the Blue Streak and Devils Den that can be open during the fair. Have a one month long state fair with one of the larger carnival providers for the area. The location would be prime for this and if the fair ground catches on, then other events can have the Blue Steak operate during that time. I think it would catch on if executed and marketed properly. The Big Butler Fair is a huge success and just a little South from that. It is just two weeks that covers the 4th of July. I know the Arizona State fair is about a month and packed during that time. Why would PA fail at doing this if properly executed?

Is anyone looking forward to "Transformers: Dark Of the Moon"? I liked the first movie and was disappointed with the second. Although, my disappointment with it was probably not in line with the general audience. My main problem was that the Decepticons were tough and bad ass in the first one and hard to take down. The second they seemed to be a little wimpy and went down to quickly... Plus no major Autobots were killed, I love in the first how Megatron easily ripped Jazz in half. Hell, Starscream was actually pretty tough in the first and a coward in the second. I though the first film changed the continuity of series in a good direction. They seem to have changed that in the second. Here is the new trailer that was released today. EDIT: How do you directly embed the video in post? Link to video for now = http://youtu.be/YxVt75aGko8?hd=1

Thanks everyone for the input, I think I may try it just for this weekend just for the hell of it. My wife keeps bugging me about that damn bridge there anyways. I am actually looking for relaxing and just want to sit at the beach. The heat does not bother me since I live in Phoenix and love the 100 plus days. I actually miss them all winter and 70 degrees is cold to me these days. I also like very warm water, my pool is already at 90 degrees and I will not be happy until it stays between 92 and 96.The Pacific Coast water is way to cold for me, until you get to Cabo. I have been to Vegas once, it was OK and got old on me quickly. I do not gamble and do not like live shows. Once the the lights and such wore off, it was just an expensive bar in my experience. I got no comps on drinks since I did not gamble. Maybe some day I can talk the wife into doubling up on me and one of the local pro girls and Vegas will be real attractive then. I wish I could find a place like Geneva on the Lake in Ohio from it hay days. That was a nice little place in the 80's and had a little of everything. I have come close with Presque Isle, but that and Geneva are long trips for me to do on a regular basis.

Has anyone ever been to Lake Havasu for vacation? My wife and I are going to be kid free for a few weeks in July. We are thinking about going over there for a long weekend during that time. We are looking at some basic accommodations, namely the Windsor Inn. We are also generally looking at being beach bums in warm water. We also want to get our drink on in walking distance. We also would not mind mini-golf and other such corny activities. I was originally thinking about going to Puerto Penasco (Rocky Point) Mexico. However, my wife is scared to drive across the border with all the drug cartel crap going on. Anyone have any positive or negative experiences here?

Man, can we pull the life support plug on this park already? I hate to see a park close as anyone else on this board does, but when is it enough? I spent much time as a child at the park when I lived in Pittsburgh. Honestly, most of the people who went to that lake where hillbillies. All their money goes to Skoal, Nascar, Budweiser and Cheap Trick re-union tours. The area needs a much more diverse crowd for this park to ever thrive again. Thus, the area needs to grow beyond the current state. You are not going to pull in much cash for operational and capital expenses when the following link represents your core demographic. http://mytrailerpark.com/ Disclaimer: This post is not meant to offend any members of this site that are hillbillies.

There appears to be a new type of water slide that Wet & Wild Phoenix is installing this year. Has anyone that where at the IAAPA this past year in Orlando have seen this? I am thinking this is a ProSlide, but not sure. Also, please forgive me if this was covered on the IAAPA review and I missed it. I am curious on this, since this is less than an hour away from me. OISU8P replied to PRINCE DESMOND's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Prince, I am planning on getting some of these. I however have a question that needs help with what I plan on doing with few. I am going to keep one in my office for the memories on a proud display. However, I have two more than I need. I would like to donate the other two to the others that tried to save Teh Big Dipper. Do we have contact information for them so that I can send one to Kat and one to Kiwi? I would be willing to pay for shipping... Thanks Again Rubb for helping the prince with his cause. -

Idora Park - Lost River & Kooky Castle
OISU8P replied to OISU8P's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^ Thanks, I was looking at pictures of the Kooky Castle just a few moments ago and stumbled on some pictures of The Lost River on "The Bill Tracy Project" website. http://notlmpresed.angelfire.com/tracyidorapark.html (This site is a must for those who love the classic dark rides,s ome pretty interesting floor plans on there and such from Tracy). I did not realize The Lost River was one of his creations. The pictures do not show much, but what it did looked interesting. I saw some of the cars that the Castle utilized. I noticed it was far from the Le Cachot, since that used the pretzel cars -
I am not sure what made me think of this park today but I did. I was only there once when I was in third grade and can not remember much about it. I do remember though that they had a ride called The Lost River. Do any of the old timers on here remember what the ride experience was for this. For some reason I keep thinking this was a hybrid Log Flume and Dark Ride. I can not find any pictures of this ride to reference exactly what it was. However, I did find a picture of the outside of Kooky Castle and it looked much like the facade on the now defunct Le Cachot ride at Kennywood. Was this similar in stunts also, since it was a Bill Tracy ride?

WDW Magic Kingdom vs. Disneyland Questions
OISU8P replied to OISU8P's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Well, I got my tax return in and made a decision on which to go to. I will be going to Disneyland California to save a few bucks for this year. I paid off a credit card my wife had with the saving and getting close to debt free. Orlando will be next year. I decided to also stay off property for California as many recommended here. Thanks for that advice, it saved me almost $200 a night and I am actually across the street from the entrance. Also, I figured I have never been over there and wanted to try it out. My daughter also loves The Little Mermaid and we will be there a week after that opens at DCA. I want to also experience this Pirates, since that is one of my favorite rides in Orlando. Matterhorn and the Nemo Subs are just icing on the cake. Also, with some of the money I saved I am getting her the full princess makeover at the Boutique. EDIT: Also, I will be staying starting on a Monday and leaving back to Phoenix on a Friday in the Summer. No weekend crowds for me -
