1. I think maybe Disney might be aiming for that angle too. I'm really curious as to what the name of the land will be, if it will be AVATAR-LAND (Very unlikely) or the name of the planet- Pandora. I personally would be more inclined to visit a new land called Pandora that was themed as a distant and lush oasis, rather than a movie themed area. That way Disney and Cameron can create new backstories to the land and allow ALL visitors to be able to enjoy the experience! Not just those who have seen avatar. I think this is what is going to be proven in Carsland, that Disney can tell an elaborate backstory on a franchise, that all guests can enjoy, not just those familiar with the franchise. I think that will be essential to the success of the project. I anticipate hearing more on this project as it develops, and I'm espically curious as to the type of ride(s) system(s) that will be used.
2. From what I have read Animal Kingdom was supposed to open with a land dedicated to mythical creatures (Beastly Kingdom) and was supposed to have a dragon themed coaster but all scraped with budget cuts (IOA stole the idea and hence Dueling Dragons). Tree of Life even had a unicorn and dragon carved in there somewhere. Yeah Animal Kingdom actually has some "tributes" to that project around the park, in the form of rock formations. If anything I hope Disney can do to Avatar what they did to Star Wars. An attraction where everyone can enjoy it, even if you haven't seen the movies. We'll just have to wait and see.
3. (Checks Calander to see that it isn't april 1st) Um, This announcement is defiantly very unexpected. Today however I was doing some research for a class, that involved reading through patents. I was searching through the Disney patents and found this patent. 12_718_803_FLYING_ENTERTAINMENT_VEHICLE (1).pdf This could possibly be used for a show....it looks very Avatar like. ------ My personal thoughts on the project- I don't like it. It feels like a forced move in response to Harry Potter. While it is nice that Animal Kingdom is getting something new, It is a bit upsetting that this will make such a dramatic "leap" to a different subject. Animal Kingdom is based on the real world- Even Camp Minnie Mickey is based on the Adirondack mountains. Dinoland while fantasized is at least made to be a "real" place. Avatar in contrast feels like almost to fake to place in a Disney Park. I really hope that Disney can prove me wrong and create an area, that someone like me who hasn't seen the movie and could care less about, will like.
4. Great American Scream Machine at SFGAd I just didn't want to ride it, there was no wait.....could've got the credit. Stormrunner, Fahrenheit, Great Bear and Sidewinder @ Hersheypark. That day at Hersheypark was my "Introduction to coasters.....I need to go back to get them!
5. * Edit It looks the Zierer Tower Launch Coaster
6. These were taken at SFMM (From Micechat.com) at the Deja Vu site. Anyone heard any rumors on what they may be working on? Also it seems that Superman escape from Kyrpton is a really loud ride! How exactly does Dreamworld work their drop tower? Is the ride experience as enjoyable with the loudness of the coaster?
7. Sea World is a great park! Espically if you haven't been there I think you would really enjoy a day there. I find that I can see and do everything at Sea World in a day, same with BGT. HOWEVER, I feel (no matter how often I visit) I can never see EVERYTHING at 1 Disney Park in a day. The other plus to staying on Disney Property would be that you get Extra-Magic Hours allowing you to visit the parks earlier and later without the crowds.
8. Well actually when researching the name BGW had several they wanted to chose from, I now give to you the EXCLUSIVE list of alternative names for the ride- -Dasher -Dancer -Prancer -Vixen -Comet -Cupid -Donner But in the end it was decided to go with Blitzen.
9. I hope you win! I added in my vote! (I wonder what the commemorative ticket looks like too)
10. Orange bird from WDW! (In honor of the Tiki Room re-opening)
11. Another delay for flying turns I assume. -I do hope that the damage wasn't that bad
12. THANK YOU!!!!! I don't like the idea either! I don't think it fits, and just doesn't belong in the Magic Kingdom. At least I can pretend it doesn't exist, because of all the construction, I have a slight idea of how the game might be laid out. The areas of "Play" seem to be off in corners or nooks, not near the major crowd areas. I really hope the firehouse isn't destroyed or made the "Central point" of the game. That would be horrible show.
13. I'm one of the few that doesn't text like that either! I hate it so much! The worst is when you get a text from you parents in text speak.... Edit- That came back to bite me in the ass, as I then started to recieve text talk messages from people who saw this post.
14. Why is that a bad idea? Thanks for all the replies, I do plan to try one, hopefully by the end of the day when I go I can work up the fear to ride X2. I'll post again reporting how I liked upside down coasters. Revolution is a Schwarzkopf coaster. While Schwarzkopf coasters are amazing and really fun, they are extremely forceful. Like Robb, I would suggest that you ride a B&M Coaster force, B&M Coasters are built to be a lot smoother and while still exciting, not as "Intense" so to speak as a Schwarzkopf. This would be a much better way to introduce yourself into coasters. (Also Revolution doesn't have the lapbar system that most of the other Schwarzkopf coasters do....making it a bit rougher on the head.) Hope this helps! Hope you have an awesome time on the "Looping" (Not upside down) coasters! -Zach
15. Disneyland Asks- Some of my favorites Please let me know where the Disneyland Bungee Jumping ride is, it sounds fun? Really, then why are you a fan of the Disneyland facebook page? I have no clue what this person said Wow, and your idiocy is why there are lapbars on Splash Mountain I only went through about 200 comments ----------------------------------------------- Holiday World posts- After Holiday World tells her it will be a Water (slide) Coaster she then posts Seriously? Can't you just google it? Some people were concerned about the Tree removal, so Holiday World then says And then somebody posts
16. Because they're also getting 3 flats and a water slide. I don't think additional rides have anything to do with it. However that Windseeker isn't going to be very appealing when there is a 23 Story Parachute Tower nearby that offers a much better view. I also find it odd that the ride isn't going to be taller than El Toro and Nitro. Personally on my next Visit I won't ride it when 3 of the major coasters offer better views. That being said, it looks like a nice addition for families in a thrill focused park. -Zach
17. To go with the Coney Island Cyclone answer and combining that with SFGAm.... Could Viper be the answer
18. Batman the ride? Steel-First Steel Suspended Log-2 Log flumes at the park Submarine- The Penguin Batman Villain Illinois-It was built at SFGAm First Poison Ivy is a Batman Villain too
19. Matterhorn Bobsleds? Bolt-The Mountain has a Lightning rod Steel-It was the first Steel Coaster Submarine-Voyage through Liquid space was built at the same time (1959) Illinois-Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln another Disney attraction that now resides in Disneyland, was built for the Illinois Pavilion at the 1964 Worlds Fair *Logs- Splash Mountain
20. I was thinking this when I asked the question Big Bad Wolf? BOLT- Big Bad Wolf may be replaced by VerBOLTen LINCOLN- The ride was located near Washington D.C Where Lincoln served as President STEEL- It was a Stell Suspended Coaster
21. The Haunted Mansion Graveyard is a good one also, in fact the "owner" Master Gracey was based on Imagineer Yale Gracey. I have a PTR I'm working on, where I got to pay tribute to Master Gracey. I'll link it when I'm done typing it -Zach
22. I do agree the slides do look awesome, and more parks should add more ride towers like this, Another name i thought could have used more creativity is this, Some call it the Monsters Inc. Laughing Floor, Or as an Acronym M.I.F.L , which also stands for .. well you should know. Kind of surprised me that Disney didn't catch onto this, or actually maybe they were onto it the whole time? you decide. The oddest part about M.I.L.F is that it wasn't the original title of the ride. How that new name got approved.....I have no clue
23. Well not the Rainbow Mine Train Caverns. However in EVERY ride Disney builds you will find tributes and jokes about past attractions, the Imagineers that work on the ride. For example- Mission Space- Realativly new ride. In the queue the logo of the beloved attraction it replaced- Horizons -is in the middle of the space centrifuge theming. Now even though Mission space is only 6 years old, Star Tours- The Adventures continue- actually makes a reference to it in the Hoth scene, and for that matter all the scenes have a reference to either the past ride or to Star Wars. A lot of the theming found in the parks (espically if it has names on it) is an Imagineer/Engineers name usually. Its one of the many things that just makes Disney even better ! -Zach
