  1. I generally sit in the back. KI's Vortex and SFGAm's Demon give a nice pop of air on the first drop in the back seat plus that tight right turn before the mid-course on Vortex is much more tolerable in the back.
  2. That would really take me off guard if I saw the scarecrow up against the fence from the corner of my eyes. Interesting that they would do this though I like the suspense surrounding the ride.
  3. I rode it a couple weeks ago towards the back and it was actually tolerable, not spine readjusting like it was just a few years ago.
  4. Why wouldn't one last? It seems a ride of that calibur would be a great fit and wouldn't interfere with the strict height restrictions the park has. In order for KK to stand out from its competitors it's going to need something unique that neither park has and I think Ed Hart may have the balls to add something that most parks have refrained from putting in, maybe not right away, but once the dust has settled and the park is in full swing. Despite being an almost mirrored clone of Mantis look at how Chang put the park on the map back in '97. Who would have thought a smaller park like KK would build the world's tallest and fastest stand up coaster at the time?
  5. Based on this it sounds like Greezed Lightning might reopen as it doesn't exactly say that any rides will be removed (though there could be a possibility of being SBNO until they decide what to do with it). I'm hoping it will get refurbished and run again. This would be a great opportunity to find a better way to bridge the two sides together but I don't think they will do anything about it.
  6. Is Prudential the only ones complaining about the noise? Maybe it's time to consider relocating, CF buys the building and rips it down to prevent anyone else moving in and complaining.
  7. Just watched the Gravity Max video, which is fantastic footage. For a short ride it looks pretty intense in spots. Too bad Vekoma doesn't make Tilt Coasters anymore as I think they would give the B&M Dive Machines a run for their money. Thanks for all the updates and continue having a safe trip in Japan.
  8. That is great news! Surprised Vekoma did not try to sell more of these as it is a very good ride.
  9. How close are those footers to Sling Shot since it's hard to tell from the Eiffel Tower shots and will Sling Shot be relocated? Can't see them getting rid of it since it seems to be quite the money maker for the park.
  10. Larry, I saw you needed photos of CP's Dinosaurs Alive and I went ahead and paid my $5 to go through it and snapped quite a few photos of the attraction. Unfortunately they are all 640x480 as I forgot to change photo size. Just wondering how many photos would you want or need of the dinosaurs? BTW I thought the attraction was pretty cool for what it is (and bigger than I thought as well) as I've never seen anything like it before even though the Cleveland Zoo has had dinos in the past (and has them again this year). Also you can get some pretty nice views of Millennium Force while going through it.
  11. I hope not. When it rains that arcade is one of the best places to hang out until the weather clears. I could see maybe using the upstairs ballroom if it's able to support a dark ride.
  12. ^Thank you. That's what I was trying to get at with my question about the terrain and what is undeveloped at KI and used Flight Deck as an example of the change in elevation from where Drop Tower is to where FD's station is. I'm all for rides that use the terrain to its advantage where applicable (Adventure Express is one) but there may be some disadvantage as far as laying out new paths if the time comes to expand outwards. Better examples I should have used and found at other parks would be like the stairs at BGW that lead you to the Rhine River Cruise or even the steep hill at SFOG that's next to Dare Devil Dive that leads to Mindbender and Batman.
  13. ^That video was posted a few pages back. It is priceless footage of a coaster legend. As for the question of undeveloped land how much of it is really suitable to build on? As much I would have liked to have seen the Action Zone area possibly expanded into SOB's location it seems the more you move away from the main park you start to get changes in the terrain that more than likely will prohibit building new themed areas. Flight Deck is basically built within a ravine.
  14. So basically it's a second yet smaller Stratosphere for the south end of the strip with a coaster wrapped around it. Why. especially with the airport right there?
  15. Very impressive looking cars. I like the LED's on the back. Have to give Gerstlauer credit for tyring different restraints on their rides instead of just relying on one type.
  16. After finding out that you haven't been to CP yet I was looking forward to your reports from this neck of the woods as I enjoy reading your TRs. I've never been at Kennywood at night and it looks great. I'm going to have to experience it sometime. Phantom at night has to be pretty incredible. Love the night shot of the Bayern Kurve. I wish someone would bring an updated version of that ride back.
  17. Maverick, especially when we hit the camelback before the horseshoe turn, and Gatekeeper.
  18. IIRC that was a schematic drawing of what Texas Giant would have been if Bill Cobb would have designed the ride. He passed away and Curtis Summers took over and used it to create the Texas Giant that was eventually built. As of late I've taken an interest in the smaller parks and Frontier City is one of them that intrigues me. Thanks for posting the photos.
  19. I admit I'm fat but not huge to where I should be restricted from riding certain rides. When I tried to ride Wicked Twister a couple of years ago I had some issue with the belt though I just barely got it fastened and last year I had no issue with Vertical Velocity at SFGAm and Volcano at KD. I also had some slight issue with Raptor's belt, just barely getting it fastened which also happened on Alpengeist last year, yet I had no issue with Batman's belts.
  20. I'm quite impressed with this ride. It was only a matter of time before someone did a face down freefall and no one can do it better than Intamin. Though a totally different ride if anyone remembers Vertigo at CP, the S&S Thrill Shot, there was a program where you got launched up and at the top the seat tilted over 90 degrees and you were facing down as you plummeted to the ground. A very thrilling sensation that is only going to be magnified on Falcon's Fury.
  21. I don't consider it fair to compare Great America to Cedar Point as they are two very different parks in how they operate. I've never had issues with operations at Great America on many of the visits I've had even if some rides aren't run as efficient as they should be. Those are not necessarily fair comparisons either. It's a no brainer that the larger ride, in the case of two mentioned here, is going to be better than the smaller ride. It would be easier to compare Magnum to Raging Bull and other than the lake view on Magnum it's clear that Raging Bull would win since it doesn't try to maim man parts. SFGAm is the superior park if compared to SFStL (a park I equally love) but what St. Louis has is the distinction of having three excellent wood coasters which is very rare for a Six Flags park as majority of the parks are heavy in the steel department. All they need is a signature steel coaster and a few modern flats to round out the offerings and SFStL would be up to SFGAm's level.
  22. Was out at the Point yesterday (Sunday). Ideal day to be there as lines were literally small by CP standards (Gatekeeper was only 45 minutes at 2 PM). Did not ride a whole lot. Rode Gatekeeper four times and loved it. While I didn't have a problem the first three times the fourth and last time had the restraint so tight I had a hard time breathing by the mid-course brake (sat in row 2 on the left side at about 8 PM - the wait was down to 15-20 minutes). Magnum went down mid to late afternoon and never reopened. That is odd since it has been one of CP's most consistently run coasters. Wicked Twister also had issues later in the day and after my fourth ride on GK they were testing it. Windseeker and Sky Ride went down mid to late afternoon due to the winds picking up. Both did not reopen once the winds diminished a little later on. Took me three times to get on Maverick as the first two times it had broken down and I didn't stay in line. Still my favorite in the park.
  23. Another great looking Vekoma junior invert. The one thing I can't get over is how fast you go into the station at the end.
  24. ^^From what I read on Huss's website there has been an interest in the Condor from the Chinese market that they've brought it back. Glad to hear as I like Condors (always make a point to ride SFGAm's). ^I, too, would like to see a resurgence in Huss rides. To think they used to have one of the largest flat ride catalogs but was drastically cut when they almost went bankrupt. I would love to see some of those old rides come back with improved features and ride designs, especially those that didn't seem to get a lot of sales i.e.Tri-Star, Magic and Flipper. If Huss could take the Troika and downsize it to the Airboat then there's hope. A slightly smaller UFO would be a nice alternative to the usual carnival Round-Up.
  25. CP's locations is a blessing and a curse. The weather can be a bit more temperatmental being out in the lake than in a more inland location thus I think the winds at CP can be a bit stronger than KI thus a wing coaster at KI might not have as much of an issue in southwest Ohio. The idea of a giga dive is interesting but I'm not so sure since we haven't seen one since Griffon was built. I absolutely loved Griffon when I rode it last year and would like to see another dive built soon however with the idea of making one a giga sized version may limit what could be done with this style of ride, especially if you're looking at adding an inversion or two.
