Update Year 6 Hola! Our sixth season is well underway! This is turning into one of my favorite areas of the park. It's very relaxing. This is well next year's addition will go. At a staff meeting, it was "hinted at" that it would be a family attraction. Guess we'll have to wait and see. What would you like to see? Mas, pronto!

Update Pre-Opening Hello! Construction on the park's wooden rollercoaster has begun! The ride has not been given a name yet, but we do know the ride is a Gravity Group product. Lights have been added around the turnaround after the lift that leads into the drop. Looks like it's gonna be a big drop! Check back soon for more construction updates!

Great trip report! The Dark Knight seems like it's going to need an upgrade... or maybe Six Flags will go ahead with the dive machine for next year.

Haha, Bench: The Ride is the first thing that came to my mind. Evolution is cool too because it's the only Vekoma Illusion left after Opryland closed... Great update!

^ Yeah, but I figured the media would go crazy over "was the fence tall enough" and things like that. But in the end it was the kid's fault so I see the reasoning behind the lack of news coverage.

Epilogue Short Film Yes, The Colony was originally going to be a movie. But as I was initially editing the movie together, I quickly realized it wasn't going to work. I went ahead with the chapter-style updates that were originally going to be promo for the movie, and they turned out to be a hit. But last night I was messing around and started to edit together the footage I had. I liked what I saw and went back and filmed a couple of scenes and here it is! This isn't a full-fledged CD5 production, it is a short film. If you haven't read the story already, then it won't make any sense. Enjoy! I hate to be the one to bring this up, but is it just me, or has this story somewhat fallen off the news? It seemed like last year's incident stayed on the news for a good week or two after the fact. I realize this is a totally different situation, but it's still a death at an amusement park. Seems like there would be more news on the investigation... or maybe I'm missing all of the reports and need to watch more TV.

Update Hey everybody I've got a bit of an update. Now that I know about when I will be returning to New Orleans to film the rest of the movie, I have a VERY TENTATIVE date in mind. Right now, it looks like Katrina will premier on July 31st. The premier party will take place on July 30th. I will be showing the movie to New Orleans residents during that week so I'm having to push the internet premier as far as I can. I'll have more updates soon.

My next park will be somewhat similar to Kemah Boardwalk in Texas. Orleans Place Boardwalk is owned by Kemah Boardwalk owner Landry's restaurants. Updates will begin this July. (disregard the typo in the above teaser) _____________________________________________ Update Pre-Opening Hello! I live down the street from the newly-announced Orleans Place Boardwalk! This is great news to the residents of this community. After rebuilding from Katrina it will be good to see another new business in the area. Lake Pontchartrain is a prime spot for this boardwalk! I still don't see how they couldn't put the waterpark on the golf courses that they bought. That seemed to be a prime spot for a large waterpark. I see this becoming a problem down the road when they want to expand. What are they going to do, open another waterpark?

Why? Rapids, IMO, are alot better than lazy rivers. Maybe this one will be better... Not impressed with their decision.

Yeah the Myspace page speaks alot about him. I wonder if the media will get ahold of it.

On Thursday I might be going to our town's firework display with a friend and then we're having our big party/firework show on Friday. It's gonna be awesome.

^ And you'd think they would have enough common sense to wait until a train passed to dart under it...(if they were trying to get back into the park) But if they were trying to grab the legs of riders then that's another story. Though all of this is only speculation so it doesn't matter at this point.

I hope they make a completely custom ride, not an EK-influenced ride or something of that nature. Something unique for the mountain... it deserves it.

I agree to an extent, however speeding on the highway (while it could yield the same result) is not comparable to "scaling" two fences, trespassing in a restricted area, and getting that close to a giant mass travelling at 50 mph. It would be like someone jumping two fences to get into a lion exhibit at a zoo. If he had been taught the concept of consequences better, this might not have happened. I'm not saying it would have been a guarantee, but I think it would have helped. I'm also not saying this was all the parent's fault, but I do think they have at least a small part in it. But that's only my opinion.

That's what I was thinking. 17 = almost an adult. I'm sure they were allowed to go off into groups. But usually there is a chaperone. I'm sure that'll be brought up. How come this stuff never happens to Cedar Fair? Six Flags has gotten this and then last year's incident.
