  1. While I wouldn't mind seeing SFA get something good, I doubt this coaster is it. Time will tell.
  2. I agree. As hot as Gilroy gets in the summertime, this park could use a first-class flume ride.
  3. ^Here's an amusing commentary on the "Button" movie: http://www.funnyordie.com/videos/1d76506803/the-curious-case-of-forrest-gump-from-fgump44. I recently finished Serena, by Ron Rash, an excellently written, suspenseful tale set in western North Carolina in the early years of the Great Depression. The title character makes Lady MacBeth seems like Mary Poppins (the whole book is structured like a Shakespearean play, complete with an amusing chorus of lumberjacks).
  4. Hmm--you must not of looked that hard, Mike. Actually, I can understand why you missed this original thread, so I've merged your thread with it.
  5. For me, I guess T-Express, Eagle's Fortress, Behemoth, Maverick, and the new Intamin mini-hypers top the list. I rode two of these in Japan (Mitsui Greenland and Nagashima Spaland), and they're surprisingly good. I was quite amazed that I liked them.
  6. Well, here's to hoping for the best and that Knoebel's can get this bad boy (and Flying Turns) up and running.
  7. ^That should work. I don't imagine the crowds will be enormous at DL on that day.
  8. ^That makes sense. Always have a Fast Pass in hand while waiting to ride something else.
  9. ^Excellent question. Getting back to Gilroy Gardens, I think they have one of the best car rides, anywhere--the two tracks are nicely themed, and they even throw in a few surprises here and there. I like the Rock Maze, too.
  10. I take it that you were able to ride Big Thunder that day? I think it's the best of the bunch. Thanks for sharing the pictures.
  11. ^^^TPR TV has a bit more "snap" and does help "brand the site; however, "CoasterTube" is more descriptive. ^^I kind of like the "whenever you like it" idea. Maybe "TPR TV (or CoasterTube): Where you can ride all year." Then again, that might be too much like the slogan of the coaster club in Florida.
  12. ^Called the "Mississippi Mud Skipper."
  13. OK, how about these? "Coaster Tube & More" "Coaster Tube, Parks & Stuff" "Ride the Coaster Tube" (OK, that sounds like porn--never mind.) Will think on it some more.
  14. You could use the title of these boards: "TPR TV Theme Parks, Coasters, & Donkeys" (or "Fun") But probably not "Yo Gabba Gabba.
  15. Please do not type in all caps as this 1) constitutes "shouting" on the Internet and 2) is much more difficult to read than using proper grammar and punctuation. Please review ourposting rulesbefore posting again. Thread locked. Chuck
  16. Maybe Ghost Town in the Sky has finally given up on Cliffhanger, and this is track for its replacement? Nah--most likely not.
  17. "Why so serious, Commissioner Gordon?" Nice report, gents. One of these days, I have to check out the Old Town haunted house.
  18. Hanayashiki is a very cool little park, even if I did shatter both on my kneecaps on the rollercoaster there back in '07. The walkthroughs are awesome.
  19. ^My old friend Dave is a member of the Baker Street Irregulars. Don't get him started on Jeremy Brett! He hates his take on Holmes (at least as the Granada series ground on). He's pretty dubious about the upcoming Downey version, too (although he does think Downey a good actor). Dave is a fan of Arthur Wontner, who played Holmes in a series of British films in the 1930s. He likes Ian Richardson, as well.
  20. Sigh! I really have to upgrade my computer. Very cool, Matt.
  21. ^And, I've always thought, a damn good actor. For my money, Iron Man was the best comic-book-inspired movie last year, largely thanks to him (and because the movie didn't take itself all that seriously). He was funny as hell in Tropic Thunder, too.
  22. All this, and the awesomeness that is The Green Slime. What's not to like?
  23. ^I am aquiver with anticipation. Jason? No class! Freddie? A rank amateur! Leatherface? Moron! Bring on Six!
  24. And the purpose of this poll would be . . . what? Which color we prefer? I think the faded greenish yellow is the original color. Thread locked.
  25. If you're going to hit either of these parks on Memorial Day Weekend, Memorial Day itself is the best day to go (at least that's been my experience). BGE weekday crowds are usually pretty small (unless there are school groups visiting). The weather should be great--not too hot, not a lot of loathesome humidity.
