Amusement Park Drive In!
cfc replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^^Not at all--each will have his place in the "Great Drive-In Movie Ride." Why, the Russ Meyer section alone will be of monumental proportions! -
Tiramisu is awesome--thanks for sharing the recipe.

It kills the atmosphere. That's why the Ghost Host on the Haunted Mansion tells you, "No flash pictures, please." I did take some flash pictures on Mr. Toad's Wild Ride at DL when I was kid (with a Kodak Instamatic camera). There were pipes and conduits, all painted black, running up and down the walls (you can't see them otherwise). That was back in the early 1970s.

What this place needs is the "Great Drive-In Movie Ride" in tirbute to such diverse talents as Roger Corman, Ed Wood, Bruce Campbell, and Frank Henenlotter. Your host: Joe Bob Briggs. Yes, just imagine riding through such classic scenes as the death by lawnmower in Frankenhooker, the catfight from Swamp Diamonds, or any "clean the scum off the streets" scene from almost any Pam Grier flick. -

Then, don't be one. The spam button is for just that--reporting spam, not for reporting posts that you find annoying. Misusing the spam button means a 24-hour ban--this time, you're getting a warning. Mcjaco is the "unofficial" moderator of the game board, so I'll let him decide what to to with this thread. -

really, is that why you didn't like the movies? because they were “unrealistic”, because they weren't “believable”, because they were “fantasy?” sheesh! isn't that the whole point of movies!?! if you want reality go outside, go anywhere, but the last place you should be going is to a movie theatre! i haven't seen Slumdog Millionaire yet, but, uh, what's wrong with the old Warners gangster movies, exactly? those are some of my favorite films of all time! James Cagney is a god! i might have to see this Slumdog Millionaire thing after all… I never said there was anything "wrong" with it. The "good brother/bad brother" plot is one of the oldest stories in the world (for example, the story of Romulus and Remus in Roman mythology). I was merely saying that Slumdog's story is hardly "revolutionary." I liked the movie, but it isn't something I would bother seeing again. As for your reaction to the other comments, I'd like to mention something Roger Ebert once said: If you like a movie, you'll accept it completely no matter how ridiculous the story is. If you don't, you pick it apart and won't accept any of it. -

^In Dark Knight, the Joker just "appears" (much as villains did in the old TV series--no origins given). He gives you a few hints as to who he is, but his stories are contradictory. Roger Ebert used to describe Batman as a "suit," and not necessarily a "character" (epsecially in the Schumacker flicks). I tought Tropic Thunder was hilarious (especially Downey and even Tom Cruise, who I usually loathe in just about anything). -

^True. Burton took more of a "gothic" approach to Batman, and Nicholson filled the bill there, whereas Nolan's approach is "grittier," so Ledger's performance makes sense. Caesar Romero's Joker fit in with the campy social satire of the 1960s TV series, which was always smarter than it let on. -

I wasn't as blown away with Ledger's Joker as some folks were. Yes, it's a good performance, but I think any other competent actor could've done it as well. (Besides, Caesar Romero rules! ) Then again, I'm getting pretty sick of Hollywood constantly "reimagining" Batman, so maybe I'm not the best judge. -
We recently lost, as opposed to just misplaced, Robert Quarry, who died peacefully at age 83. I'd like to think that someone tracked him to his crypt and drove a stake through his heart. Actually it's all the work of Mr. Big, Fearless Leader, and Boris Badenov and Natasha. That would certainly explain all the giant, metal-eating mechanical mice currently infesting DisneySea. Only Rocky and Bullwinkle (or perhaps Captain Peachfuzz) can save us now! -

It was a pretty weak crop this year; to be quite frank, I thought Wall-E was the best flick of the bunch. I was really pulling for Mickey Rourke and Marisa Tomei, too. I agree with Tyler about Slumdog--it's a good movie, but I really doubt anyone is going to remember much about it in the next year or two. The plot was similar to one of those "good brother/bad brother" gangster flicks Warners used to make in the 1930s with, say, Jimmy Cagney and Pat O'Brien. -

^I remember the old commercial with Ed McMahon, where he stands on the dock, "an ice-cold Bud" in his hand. -
I think In and Out's fries are awesome, while the burgers are pretty good. More of a Carl's Jr. man when it comes to fast-food burgers, myself.

If you fail spectacularly enough, you can get away with all kinds of crap. But if you're just a small, everyday failure, you're screwed. -

^Not to mention why they're "eating" a zebra. (Or as the skippers sometimes joke, "Aw-w-w-w, look at those lions keeping watch over that sleeping zebra. 'Can you feel the love tonight. . . .'") The old Busch Gardens in southern California did have a log ride at one time, as well as a boat ride through the gardens. -
^I've never understood the appeal of tattoos, either. But what people want to do with their own bodies is their own business, I suppose. Bill Maher made one of the funniest cracks concerning the rage for oriental symbols as tattoos: "You think you're showing your 'spirituality.' For all you know, it could mean 'kung pao chicken.'"

^^Yes, it may just be the greatest moment in your young life, Adam. Matt, you and I should charge 50 cents a download for this THE GREATEST VIDEO GAME OF ALL TIME. I'm sure we could clear enough money for a six pack in a month or two. Thanks for posting that link. As for my version of the "victory dance," it's my take on this dance sensation from the 1960s. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ktUiC2Ikd84&feature=related
