  1. ^Nice work on the Fright Fest sight. Looking forward to Deep South Bash next weekend!
  2. Here's a brillantly written post of tragic beauty from the BGW page:
  3. That figures--I'll be at Deep South Bash. Oh, well . . .
  4. Is these awesomely cheesy pirate ride still in operation? That, the Haunting, and Apocalypse were my favorite attractions at Drayton.
  5. There are signs commemorating past floods all over the park.
  6. ^Which would've been, technically, "replacing" the Big Bad Wolf.
  7. Maybe it's just me, but whenever I go to the park, they only have 2 sides open. It isn't just you. I've yet to see all of Drop Tower's seats filled, either. I agree that KD's drop is more intense, but Mach Tower is fun. The rotation as you ascend is its best feature.
  8. Aghh! Crtl-Alt-Deceased flashbacks! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AWLBljvEG-M To get back on topic, this looks like a larger version of the Star Trek Exhibit I saw in Sacramento.
  9. I'm wondering if they amped the "vibrating seats" up a bit. During the "soft opening," the seats would buzz and shake a little, but those "Magic Fingers" beds at older motels were more intense. However, last Friday night, it felt like the whole tower was shaking and, yes, you could hear it "rumble" down in the queue.
  10. Here's a bit of genius from the BGW page: Brillant! Hire this man as a consultant!
  11. The "Old Virginia" section has a lot of trees, but the "Grove" midway is mostly concrete.
  12. I'm amazed that KD's El Dorado has rabid fans (from KD's Facebook page): Yes, the removal of El Dorado would be very distressing for all fans of boring rides with maintenance issues.
  13. ^What I most remember about the Freefall ride at Central Park is that there's no real pause (unlike the old Edge at Great America) before the drop. Just up to the top and over ya go! Ow!
  14. ^I agree--Adventure Express is fun. However, SOB deserves the wrecking ball.
  15. LIke them or not, I think these "Fast Pass" style options are here to stay. Being as Six Flags and Busch have such systems in place, Cedar Fair needs to do this to compete. Will it work out for them? Time will tell.
  16. ^Come to think of it, the Space Center is the first place I ever saw gators outside of a zoo. They just swam around the canals there, hoping that someone would toss them food, I guess--such as hot dogs, fries, small children, etc.
  17. I hope the new trains help, as Iron Wolf was quite the experience in pain and discomfort at Six Flags Great America.
  18. So, now the parallels with Dreamworld's Tower of Terror/Giant Drop are complete--excellent!
  19. Good to see another Premier launched coaster in the works.
  20. I think this may turn out to be the Bash of the Year--and there have been some damn good Bashes this year!
  21. Definitely more interesting than where I was--at work.
  22. Any American park with two old dark rides and two Schwartzkopfs is worth noting.
  23. ^I agree about the Poe maze, but I'm intrigued by The Foresaken and Holidays of Horror, too. Overall, it looks like a good lineup, but I am a bit worried about the Thing--that one didn't work so well a few years back.
  24. You could easily do Haunt at Kings Dominion and Howl-o-Scream at Busch Gardens Williamsburg in one weekend. KD stresses shocks and gross outs, while BGW goes more for creepiness and atmopshere. The parks are only a little over an hour away from each other. KD opens from 7:00 pm to midnight on Fridays during Haunt (full day on Saturday and Sunday). Friday is a good night to beat the crowds. BGW's Quick Queue includes both rides and mazes.
  25. ^Yep--they definitely topped BGW last year, as painful as it is for the Williamburg resident to admit it.
