  1. I've never ridden the original version, either, but I had heard about the boat being bitten, but not the explpoding shark. It's too bad they couldn't keep that ending, but I guess it wasn't very practical. Thanks for posting that video.
  2. ^Agreed. If you're going to spend three days in that part of Ohio, you may as well drive to Santa Claus, Indiana, and hit Holiday World, rather than spending three days at KI. (I like KI well enough, but you deifintely don't need more than a day there.)
  3. Were you talking to the same guy who put Avalanche, Backlot Stunt Coaster, Flight of Fear, and Intimidator 305 in the "Congo" section of Kings Dominion?
  4. Two questions: 1. Are Ice Bat cookies made of real Ice Bats? 2. If so, does Ice Bat eat them?
  5. ^I felt the same--a decent, but disappointing coaster. I'm actually sadder that LaQua's Zombie Paradise dark ride is no more--now there was something unique.
  6. ^Busch doesn't sell the Hummel figurines anymore, and Hummel Boy was actually the property of whatever company makes the figurines; so, I think he was sent back to Germany.
  7. God, I remember that ride on the Roman Rapids--BGW at its most sadistic! And, alas, Hummel Boy has gone the way of the Big Bad Wolf.
  8. I think Six Flags over Georgia's version is even worse--mainky because it's longer.
  9. Netflix offers it on DVD (but not streaming).
  10. ^At least prisoners don't have to pay ridiculous prices for their food. It says a lot about the quality of the food when the best place to dine at a park is Panda Express (which is OK for what it is).
  11. "Giddy" can mean either "causing dizziness," or "not serious; silly." Being that "dizziness" is already covered on that sign, I guess they don't want people acting silly. Or using their spinning hypno-eyes on people, which I suppose could cause dizziness. "Look into my eyes!" Maybe it has something to do with the use of strobe lights on the Transformers attraction? I have no idea. Excellent pictures, by the way--thanks for this report.
  12. ^What "rumor" are you referring to? There is a Verbolten Facebook page. By "rumor" do you mean that this page isn't an "official" BGW page? (If so, you're probably right.)
  13. I just e-mailed my ballot to Mitch Hawker. Here's my top ten for 2011. I know you're all terribly excited! 1. Balder (Liseberg) 2. Phoenix (Knoebels: This one moved up a few spots in my top ten after my last visit--what an amazing old ride!) 3. El Toro (Six Flags Great Adventure) 4. Colossos (Heide Park, Germany) 5. My Favorite Steel (Expedition GeForce at Holiday Park, Germany) 6. Viper (Six Flags Great America) 7. Raven (Holiday World) 8. HellCat (Timberfalls) 9. Lightning Racer - Thunder (Hersheypark) 10. Lightning Racer - Lightning (Hersheypark) And the infamous bottom five: 88. Hades (Mount Olympus ) 89. GhostRider (Knott's Berry Farm) 90. Son of Beast (SBNO--Kings Island) 91. The Bandit (Movie Park, Germany) 92. Anaconda (Walygator Parc, France) There were only three additions to my wooden-coaster ballot this year: 34. Wild Mouse (Aussie World) 35. Wild Mouse (Luna Park Sydney) 63. Scenic Railway (Luna Park Melbourne) There were 92 wooden coasters total on my ballot. My Club TPR banner says 94, but that count includes two defunct rides: the Wild Mouse at Santa Cruz and the Starliner at Cypress Gardens.
  14. Thanks for the look at all the work being done on Fantasyland. I'm glad this section of the Magic Kingdom is finally getting a significant upgrade, as it really is the "heart" of that park.
  15. Where are the wisecracking birds, chanting tiki idols, and singing flowers?
  16. ^That makes sense to me. The interactive queues, as far as I know, have been a hit so far, so why not update Test Track's? It would be better than the "safety test" demonstrations that don't work half the time.
  17. ^It's merely the next step in the thread's evolution. At least they're complaining about something they can actually know before riding.
  18. As long as they pay it back at the ride exit. I'm curious to see more details about this.
  19. I'm more interested in complaining about the color of the track. I imagine that will come next. The proposed layout looks good--and I'm very interested about what will go on in that building. I like it when parks combine dark rides with coasters.
  20. Aw . . . Gwendolynn has a halo. I've heard of Wall Drug, but I've never been there; however, it is prominently mentioned in a book titled 101 Places Not to See Before You Die, which also includes Times Square on New Year's Eve and Paris Disney. Note that I do not endorse the contents of this book, as amusing as its entries are. I merely point out that it exists. If I were in South Dakota, I would probably stop at Wall Drug.
  21. ^I doubt anyone would dispute that.
  22. Based on local height restrictions, a Eurofighter does make sense for Alton, but these rides have been sprouting like weeds for the last few years. That being said, I like Eurofighters (especially if they use lapbars).
  23. Seriously, no. You'll find all kinds--the true wackos just get more of the press.
