  1. ^^I agree, but I see little sense in arguing with people about it, and I guess I've seen this particular gripe about the GP posted too many times--it has ceased to amuse me. But carry on.
  2. I understand what you all mean about people constantly equating inversions with "great ride," but people like what they like.
  3. I also understand the desire to protect a "brand name." After all, trampoline, aspirin, dry ice, and many other now common words were once specific brands. However, if Skee-Ball is smart, they can parlay this into a big hit at bars nationwide. If I were them, I'd love to see Skee-Ball machines in more than just amusement parks and arcades.
  4. ^I think you've hit on it, Elissa--they now have the perfect venue for a "permanent" NIGHT MAZE! Screw Harry Potter! Night Maze shall live forever at Universal!
  5. I think it's time for the federal government to step in and declare the park to be the "District of Carowinds" (or "DCW," for short).
  6. All they're going to do is alienate Skee Ball players in Brooklyn--and you don't want to piss those guys off!
  7. You do realize that they just closed the ride last night, correct? Now that the walls are up, let the tearing down commence.
  8. I was saddened to learn that the ship sank and Bryan died. Well, that the ship sank, at least.
  9. I was with my old friend Brian, who was visiting Universal Florida for the first time. He was very amused by how many attractions featured fire and explosions. Well, we rode Jaws, and he asked, "OK, how are they going to work fire and explosions into this ride?" Then he saw this sign. "Ah, the answer presents itself!"
  10. ^Agreed--he's the best one I've seen on the Florida version of that ride.
  11. ^New one on me--but I don't pay attention to a lot of "technical" stuff.
  12. I think we were all anticipating a big wave at that moment, but it didn't really happen. Just got a bit sprayed.
  13. ^Nope--Verbolten will have no inversions.
  14. I don't remember getting too soaked on the rapids. The flume ride was another story.
  15. ^That last one sounds like an enthusiast quote to me.
  16. I think this thread will provide you with all the answers you need, and then some: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=392923#p392923.
  17. Agreed--that was the best Jaws ride ever (with Japanese Jaws a close second).
  18. All these years visiting Universal, and I've never been to the "All-You-Can-Eat Monto Cristo Sandwich Buffet." It's a shame that a unique ride like Jaws is going away, but based on past rumors, we're lucky that it's lasted this long.
  19. Superman at Six Flags Magic Mountain sounds like a jet taking off every time it launches. I thought it was louder than even Tower of Terror at Dreamworld, which is the same type of ride.
  20. Fifteen to seventeen minutes to walk through the haunted house? That's great! I had no idea that this old attraction was that big.
  21. At least they can recover in your hot tub today.
  22. ^Exactly. Big Bad Wolf was a "family" ride with the lowest height requirement of all the park's coasters. What I like about Verbolten is that BGW is trying to offer a family ride that's unique--thanks to the drop element and special effects (I hope) inside the show building. They're hoping that Verbolten will do the same thing for BGW that Cheetah Hunt (an excellent "family" ride) is doing for the park in Tampa.
  23. This will satisfy those whose secret fantasy is to ride the Peoplemover for 24 hours straight. First post of 2012--go me!
