  1. ^SFMM is a flagship park, along with Great Adventure and Great America. Being primarily a coaster park has nothing to do with it
  2. Exactly. Look at a ride like Deja Vu. Not really an enthusiast favorite, and probably the king of gimmick coasters, yet a major hit with SFMM guests. The thing that separates SFMM from other parks are the areas the park draws from, and will continue to draw from even if they try to go the family route.
  3. ^ Well that depends. These attractions are considered mediocre by enthusiasts, but are they flops with the gp as well? Because that's the bottom line. If spending less yet still adding rides every year is actually working as a business model for them, they're going to keep doing it until it no larger works.
  4. ^ Superman Ultimate Flight at SFDK is 863ft long.
  5. ^ Agreed. It speaks volumes that SFMM has been managed by 3 different teams in the last decade, yet all of them eventually conceded that coasters and extreme thrills were the only thing they were going to add. Even within a limited budget and company cutbacks, the coasters still keep on coming. They obviously know something we don't.
  6. ^ I agree with that. A truly great roller coaster every 3 years or so would be ideal. Unfortunately, the current SF management seems to care more about Season Pass pre sales and bloating the numbers for investors every year, then they do smart investing in their parks. I mean come on, trying to spit shine a used Boomerang as an exciting new attraction was one of the most hilarious things I've ever seen a major theme park operator do. Jeez, hold off until you can really excite people and stop going for the short term. Say what you want, Premier knew how to build amazing roller coasters.
  7. Superman up at SFDK? SFMM obviously had a limited budget for this coaster. The company just isn't building massive, expensive coasters like Premier used to.
  8. If you want a full family theme park experience, Knotts or Disney are far superior options. SFMM seems to feel they can't compete in the family area, so they have fully embraced their thrill niche, for better or worse.
  9. That's really my only complaint about the coaster (other than capacity), is that I wish there was an overbank turn after the hill or something to give it some kind of finally. The coaster could have been so much more no doubt. But I still think comments like "anything is better than Yolocoaster" are quite over dramatic.
  10. I don't get that logic. To me a coaster is either fun or its not, regardless of what park it opens in. And since my #1 steel coaster in California is a gimmick ( a shuttle looper), the gimmick thing doesn't bother me either. The ride looks fun, which is what I expect when I show up to ride.
  11. And I would rather have the option of both, like we have. I never get the complaining about what one park adds compared to another. I think it's cool to have completely different options, as opposed to several parks all trying to do the same thing.
  12. I agree. I think LL is the best non coaster ride in the whole chain.
  13. From what I saw today, construction has already begun on the Full Throttle site
  14. Actually, I moved to Las Vegas to take care of a sick parent, and I do travel, a lot. So I have no complaints, I was merely making a point about the grass always being greener somewhere else. I love where I live, and honestly the lack of great coasters don't make up for other things I like. When I want to ride great coasters, I go ride them. I don't rant about how pissed I am Las Vegas isn't building what I want. Yes I wish I had great coasters close to me, but I also understand that everyone makes con sessions based on their choices. And you bring up a great point Robb. Instead of always complaining that California doesn't have great coasters, MOVE if its that important to you. I hate constant complaining as much as the next guy.
  15. Yeah, I get that people wish we could trade Full Throttle for Helix, and I couldn't agree more. Having said that, I'm playing the world's smallest violin for some of the other complaining in this thread. Try living in Las Vegas, where our stand out coaster is Canyon Blaster. Or where I lived before, where I had an 8 hour drive to get to Silverwood and ONLY Silverwood. So I'm not feeling all that sorry for some of you who got "stuck" with a brand new Premier launch coaster, as well as Tatsu, X2, Apocalypse, Batman and others. You poor things...
  16. The best point so far. Bottom line, it isn't SFMM's responsibility to build rides enthusiasts like. Which is why as enthusiasts, we can choose to travel to rides that suit our tastes. Problem solved.
  17. Full Throttle seems like a much different type of ride. Closer to Superman up at SFDK than something Helix or Cheetah Hunt. Helix just makes me finally want to do a TPR trip!
  18. Great job you guys! In your opinion, how does this year compare to last? Last year was amazing!
  19. This is why So Cal deserved Full Throttle and nothing better. I find it ironic that after nearly 40 years, Colossus is probably on it's way to becoming one of those "steel looping things".
  20. I would think this news would make people very happy. I hear time and time again that new roller coasters continue to destroy what's left of the park's charm. Perhaps the management finally agrees?
  21. ^ Me neither. I actually prefer KK to TTD.
  22. Whatever it is, I'm sure I will be as underwhelmed as I always am with most other Knotts additions.
  23. IMO there is nothing particularly special about that plaza area that coaster supports would ruin.
