If you were to ride any RMC on it's own merits, it's usually the best coaster in it's respected park, and will wind up in most people's top 20. RMC has yet to create a dud ride, therefore even the weakest one is still one of the best rides in the country. It's fun to compare, but in this case it's a shallow victory. I'd take any of their rides in my hope park, even the weakest.

Anyone ridden all the RMCs yet?

^ that's why I always laugh when people say "if you've ridden one RMC, you ridden them all". Not even close -

Me either, you're still getting a plethora of airtime and crazy inversions regardless if you're dueling or not. I can't speak for anyone else, but for me the visuals and interaction with the other train totally plays into my enjoyment of the Colossus. For the same reason I'd rank Ninja a lot differently if it sat in an open flat field, or if Space Mountain was a "lights on" coaster. And it's the same reason that even if Scream were a GREAT floorless, it would still rank lower due to it's location. Twisted Colossus is a world class ride either way, but I rank as much as four spots higher if it's racing. -
Dollywood Discussion Thread
Manic Monte replied to crispy's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
There is not a park currently in the US that I want to visit more than Dollywood, and that includes CP. And there is not a coaster currently in the US I want to ride more than Lightning Rod, and that includes ANY of CP's coasters. -
I don't want to bash on your opinion or idea, but here are my thoughts on that. 1. Knott's already has 3 launch coasters. 2. Knott's already has 2 shuttle coasters (unless they were to remove Boomerang for this). 3. Knott's has enough low-capacity coasters. Realistically, something like Gale Force still wouldn't compare with Xcelerator, and it would just bring another low-capacity ride to the table. In my opinion, if Knott's gets a new coaster sometime soon, it should be a people-eating B&M Hyper along the lines of Goliath at La Ronde, Hollywood Dream at USJ, or even Mako at SWO. It is something that the park (as well as the SoCal area) could really, really use. Oh I agree with that, and if they wanted they could totally make space with for a coaster like that. But the park has shown zero interested in added big coasters and I'm just not sure that is going to change anytime soon.

That's the one part of the ride I thought needed re-profiling the most as that particular turn always felt like it was going to tear the train apart. I'm surprised that this part saw so much re-profiling though — it never seemed quite that bad at that spot. Original: Screen Shot 2016-06-10 at 5.18.14 PM.png[/attachment] I for one, would disagree. My ribs were not a fan of that turn. But these complaints are about how it felt when the ride was at its worst overall. I have a pretty low threshold for ride discomfort, and that turn was never an issue for me until 5-ish years ago. With new track and new trains and different material, there's no reason they couldn't have retained some of that banking (even if they reduced the angle) No. I have heard complaints about that turn since the ride opened. And it got progressively worse as the ride aged. I'm all for great laterals, but not when they hurt. For me, Ghostrider is much more re rideable now that I don't get off in pain. I feel like the changes made to the ride were needed.

^ Agree with all of this. The ride is as smooth now as Apocalypse was it's opening year as Terminator. Having ridden Boulder Dash after GCI overhauled that ride, this feels similar. A real return to what the ride was back in 2000! Will it remain this way? Probably not. But for the next few years at least, I'm getting a season pass to ride this baby as much as possible!

I feel like a better use of money, would be a new ride and an overhaul of an existing ride. ie. Viper or Riddler's Revenge. I say this because SFOG is getting new themed area and they are painting and getting new restraints on their Ninja ride. Yep, agree with this. SFMM started all of this coaster overhaul business with X2 and Superman. Might as well keep it going as it seems to work well for them.
