  1. I was thinking about naming it Thermoclimb for it to make more sense, but I thought that would take a bit too much away from the thermocline theme. Thinking back on it, I think I should rename it Thermoclimb....is that any better? And thank for the kind words on the new ride! RD: If you need any help with the supports, feel free to PM me!
  2. Is the procedure the same for Top Thrill Dragster? Because a lot of the time TTD's message doesn't even play, or it only plays the first couple of words, or it plays the message twice.
  3. CC9: ---------- In 1999, Adventure Springs is set to debut the TALLEST roller coaster on the east coast! Standing at a record 205 feet tall, THERMOCLINE will feature a 65 degree angle 200 foot drop into the Virginian forests, 6 airtime hills, a 125ft Hammerhead, a surprise 100ft drop from the brake run, and a forceful helix! A thermocline is a layer in a body of water in which temperature changes more rapidly with depth than usual. Thermocline adds to Adventure Springs' collection of 5 world-class roller coasters. Signs are located in the queue stating facts about the ride and facts about the thermocline layer. One of the original plazas from the 1920s have been updated to include a food court and another indoor arcade with modernized restrooms. Trees have been demolished to give guests an unobstructed view of Thermocline. More pictures to come as the ride's media day and opening pass by. As of now, the ride's lift hill, two largest airtime hills, and hammerhead are visible from Route 1. (Along with Yorktown Siege's lifthill and Sky Cabin). Rumor has it that Adventure Springs' skyline will become much more defined in the years to come. Adventure Springs is located off of Route 1, just 5 miles outside of Mount Vernon in Fort Belvoir. Joint tickets between Mount Vernon and Adventure Springs are available, season pass to Adventure Springs does not include unlimited visits to Mount Vernon. ----- What do you guys think? The foliage of course isn't finished but what about the new plaza and the ride itself? Love to hear your opinions! -Braztaz
  4. I agree the one-train weekday policy on i305 is a but dumb. Some weekdays rival Sundays in terms of attendance...
  5. ^I saw a bunch of people walking around asking people questions on Sunday. It sounds like a Windseeker is a good bet for next year, unless they hear a bunch of negative feedback.
  6. If you read the chart you'll see that in 2012 the working drawings are to take place, and the construction period hasn't even been written down yet. So 2014 at the earliest...assuming construction will take place in 2013.
  7. I used Maverick's single rider line last year and it cut off 5 or 10 minutes tops. I did get to meet someone new and ride in the front row, though! Pretty convenient. I agree that MF and TTD don't have the right station layout for single rider lines, whenever I rode MF the station was so crowded and adding more commotion would make it unbearable. Oh yeah, and amazing pictures. Yeah.
  8. ^It's a combination of both. CW and KI's Windseekers don't have this problem and they don't always load full cycles.
  9. I imagine that this thing would have amazing capacity similar to i305. A really big line wouldn't be needed.
  10. ^Some of the features like merging will never work, but the majority of them will if you run your computer in WIndows Classic mode (left click desktop, properties, themes) And then disable the UAC: http://www.google.com/#hl=en&source=hp&q=how+to+disable+uac+on+vista&aq=0&aqi=g10&aql=&oq=how+to+disable+uac&gs_rfai=&fp=699b07aefa0d9cc And you should be good to go. And I have a problem of my own....while working in scenario editor, my small scenery selection freezes up...as in I can't scroll down to select or deselect any scenery items. I don't have this problem with any of the other tabs. But small scenery is basically the most important one! Anyone have any solutions?
  11. Yeah, Alpengeist has had that problem too but the seatbelts make the situation harmless. It makes for a more thrilling ride!
  12. Well, I was driving home from Dorney and passed KD so I decided to give it a visit and ride i305 3 times! I was expecting a larger crowd for a Sunday night but i305 was basically a walk on. Didn't check anything else out because I didn't have time. After being at Dorney, I started appreciating i305 much more. It really is one of the best rides in the world!
  13. Well, it's been a long day. Packed up my things and left Virginia at 8:30 and arrived at Dorney at around 3:30. I love how close you are to Possesed as you're driving up. I watched a completely empty train, except for three people, greet me as I walked in. This was the story of the whole day. One train wait for everything, even for the front row at times, and good operations. But after 6 I got bored, went to the waterpark which was OK at best, until 7. Then got a couple more rides in and called it a day. I'll be going back tomorrow morning for a little while before continuing on my trip. Steel Force x6: I think of this ride as okay, nothing to go crazy over. The first drop is fun and you get decent airtime at parts, but its my least favorite hyper so far. (Magnum was much better) Hydra x2: Very fun in the front seat, the jo Jo roll was my favorite part of the ride. Experienced some headbanging. Talon x4: Very fun invert. Rank it a little below Raptor and much higher than Alpengeist. Possessed x1: This just doesn't do anything for me. I just didn't have any fun on it for some reason. The holding brake was really neat though. Thunderhawk x1: LOVED this old woodie! Overall fun day, but the park got boring real quickly. Sorry if this is a crappy trip report... This is from my iPod!
  14. Now that it's summer, I eat to pass the time. And I have a lot of time to pass.
  15. Says the person who, as it happens, is also 16. Besides, it's been the same for teenagers for decades: everything sucks. Hasn't changed up till now, probably never will. I know I catch myself being like that all the time. That's so true. But then the next day they could be the happiest person alive. I love moodswings!
  16. This is now my favorite web series.
  17. My friend did say the line for i305 was "ridiculous", and that the line for Volcano was nearly an hour long. I was going to go today, I'm glad I didn't! Long wait times and heat do not mix well with me.
  18. The Curse of Adventure Springs Continues Adventure Springs and the CEO, George Silverman, hit a massive streak of bad luck starting in 1993. It all started on a dreary April night, in which Mr. Silverman recieved a call from one of the board of directors, Andrew Ridgedale. He stated that the board unanimously agreed that they didn't like where he was leading the park and the company. Silverman always focused on the family appeal, and showcasing Virginia's natural beauty in his new attractions. The only major thrill attraction he added was Jetstream in 1977 and Yorktown Siege in 1986. Ridgedale believed that the only way Adventure Springs was to survive in the new modern age of roller coasters is to convert the park into a zone for thrill-seekers and families alike. Silverman immediately rejected the idea, and the matter was disclosed until 1994. Ridgedale put together a meeting for board members, city council, and citizens on November 15th, 1994 to discuss the matter. Ridgedale stated that converting the park would bring in more revenue for surrounding areas, more tourists, and more profits for the park itself. Silverman still disagreed, stating that larger rides would scare the families away. The true roots of why he revived the park from it's abandoned state was to appeal to families around Fort Belvoir, and schools visiting for Mount Vernon. After a lengthy debate, it was settled that Silverman was to resign from his position as CEO effective December 1st, 1995. This decision caused even more controversy with Silverman's followers, many of which decided to resign on their own after Silverman's depature. As all this was happening, the park seemed to be neglected, in a sense...No new attractions were added from 1993-1997, reflected by the uncertainty of the company. But, by the end of 1996, the controversy started to die down as the last of Silverman's followers left, and the focus of rebuilding the company and park was set on full gear. All throughout 1997, Ridgedale, the new CEO, met with several manufacturers and designers to kickstart Adventure Springs' new era of thrill. The year 1998 brought Adventure Springs' first addition since 1992...a HUSS Top Spin "Forest Fire". This new addition is complete with fire effects, giving riders a sense of danger as if they're closing down on a real Forest Fire in the woods of VA. Speculation ensues on the park's 1999 addition, which is said to be a roller coaster...and a big one, at that. I'll try to report to you on new information when it comes...but for now, do you have any guesses as to what this mysterious attraction may be? --- -Braztaz So how many of you actually read this whole thing?
  19. If Anaconda was smooth, it'd be one of the most boring rides there. It just has a layout that's not too exciting or surprising. The only element of surprise it has now is when you're gonna hit your head on the restraint.
  20. ^You just hit it spot on. Someone's gonna get on it with a previously sprained ankle or something, then get hit by one of the other swings and since we live in sue-happy America, they'll want as much money as they can get for it. And then the Windseekers will get a bad rep because the GP will over exaggerate "OMG sum1 lost foot on teh seekerwind!1" and all this bad stuff. I'm not scared for the safety of the guests, just how easily Windseeker's reputation can turn bad for the GP....
  21. "Der Fallintoofast"....so cruel but so true Great photos, I really did miss out on a great event!
