  1. No, not unless Mack starts making that type of ride. A major focus of Europa Park is to showcase their own rides. Of course it could happen (like Silver Star) but I doubt it. Fjord Rafting is from Intamin, Vindjammer is from Huss, all the small rides are from Zamperla... I think they just don't want a major flat ride yet, maybe in the nearby future.
  2. I went to the Halloween event on the second of November. It was awesome as always! Great madhouses, good scare zones and a lot of actors! It's a pity i didn't made any pictures during my visit, but the park officially published this after movie, enjoy The event was a success by the way. For two days, 31 of October and the first of November, the park had to close the gates for new visitors after two hours of opening because the park was to packet with people (a little more then 20.000 visitors a day). For a rather 'average sized' park for European standards, this amount of people on one day is huge (especially for my tiny tiny country Belgium). It's not clear what the park has planned for the near future. Next year, I'm not expecting something new. But in 2015, the park celebrates it's 40 years anniversary. I hope they finally invest in something big that dominates the parks skyline (and no, not like a Vertigo-ish ride). We will see...
  3. This is going to be something like Nemesis: Sub Terra in Alton Towers. The main differences are that this attraction is more family-friendly and in here, you start with an interactive walktrough and end with the freefall ride. In Sub-Terra it's the opposite way.
  4. Nemesis and Katun during night-time, black-outs all the way.
  5. Walibi Belgium presents: Zombie Celebration! Thirteen years ago, former Six Flags Belgium introduced the concept of Halloween for the very first time on Belgian soil. Since that time, the Halloween-event has grown massively (for Belgian standards) and was super popular among the Belgian people. Sooner ore later, the event was the most important time of the season for the park. Every nocturne was packed with people and they all still loved it. In 2008, the park introduced something 'new' to "re-brand" their Halloween. Instead of making random theming all over the place, they wanted to combine the event with a story line. From then, every Halloween get's a story with one character that takes the lead over the park. At the end of the day on a nocturne, the park reveals the end of the story and a sneak peak of what's coming next. This year, the story continues with Marva, the zombie-leader. But first a little bibliography of Marva and her mysterious history: In 2010, Walibi Belgium introduced Marva to Halloween visitors. She was the stepmother from Draco, who brought us his Monster Festival in 2008 and 2009 (a circus/carnival freak show). Marva is a half Belgian, half Russian circus-artist who had a life full of glitter and glamour in the National Russian Circus, performing as a acrobat and trapeze artist. Her jealousy broke her career, as she was rumored to kill her own sister after manipulate her show and made her fall into a cage with lions. Her sister was eaten alive. No one ever heard of her, until in 2010, as she thought her stepson did a terrible job with his Monster Festival. She locked him up in a cage, displayed him as the laughingstock in the park and killed him afterwards. She took over the Monster Circus, brought her own Freak Show to the park and opened Zoo Terror, her personal horror-zoo. In 2011, while being in Russia, she was alarmed that there were some unwanted visitors in the park. Several zombies were spotted in Walibi Belgium. Probably some of her freaks and some visitors who transformed into evil zombies. They were seeking revenge towards Marva. At the end of Halloween, during a massive zombie invasion, Marva was locked up in the passageways of the Insomnia haunted-house, where she died and became a zombie herself. Full of vengeance, in 2012 she locked herself up in a secret lab, preparing a lethal virus that should eliminate humanity: Virus-Z1. The government heard of the plans and secretly created a team of soldiers that should start a zombie-war, that was fought during the Halloween Finale. Soldiers for this secret project, Project Z, were found during a strict and hard boot camp, led by aggressive drill-instructors. During the Final Show in 2012, there was this bloody war between zombies and the Project Z soldiers. Though suffering from a boot camp from hell, Marva was able to spread her virus. Over 20.000 visitors witnessed their own infection with this virus, leading to madness, insanity, death and the eternal zombie life. Here are two aftermovies of the last two chapters: 2011 => love this video! 2012 Pretty story isn't it? And this is the reason why this event is getting more and more attention. And this year, it's going to be even better! The park introduced 6 Haunted Houses/attractions and 6 Scarzones: Haunted Houses Villa 13 (New 2013) In Villa 13, visitors enter an old and posh mansion, where once a dangerous psychopath used to live. Nowadays, it is feared because of the paranormal activity that hides inside this doomed house. Visitors enter the rooms of this house, where moral boundaries don't exist. A horrific house, where visitors will be exposed to absolute madness, fear and terror. 'Villa 13' is replacing Zoo Terror, which is scrapped after 4 succesfull years. What is so special about 'Villa 13' is that it isn't located inside the park itself, but about 100 meters outside the park (A real villa next to the parks neighbours). The house is 16+ and, it won't be free. Insomnia My personal favorite of last year. This insane house, full of zombies and Psycho's, is not for sissy's. You can't escape in the dark, even when you think you reached the end. Most scary thing about this place is that they can lock you up in one of the prison cells all alone. Ore you think you are alone in the dark... This house is free to enter. Project Z If you want to join the resistance and stop the zombie-takeover and save humanity: this is your change! In Project Z you will be trained as a soldier ready for battle. But it isn't that easy. What awaits you is a hard boot camp with lots of yelling and a massively amount of scares during your course. And you aren't with others: you enter this house all alone and nobody can and shall help you! For some, this house was to hard to conquer after they walked 20 - 25 minutes in the house and they didn't know how to escape! This house isn't for free. Virus - Z1 Marva is making her Virus again to infect all guests with it! Watch her brew it in her huge secret hiding place. But beware, you aren't alone in that place, a zombie is just a corner away! This house is free to enter. Mad House 3D A haunted house for the kids. You enter with a pair of 3D glasses for a trippy and weird journey. Beware, After dark, the zombies take over this house! Free to enter. Zombie River The Gold River ride has changed during the Zombie attack. Enter the boats at own risk, they are everywhere near the river! Free to enter. Scarezones Freak Zombies Scared of the zombies? Stay away from this place then! They are everywhere, even 6 meters high of the ground! This scarezone is located at the parks log flume Flashback. Marva's Massacre Welcome home! Marva's horrific family (the parts of them who are still alive of course) traveled all the way from Russia and stay in the park for the Halloween event. They brought even their own farm animals like chickens and goats. But don't think this is a 'nice' place to stay where you can run away from the zombies for a moment. They will and shall attack everywhere they can, even here! Located in Lucky Luke City. War Zone The only zone where you can find signs of human civilization, although they are constantly fighting for their lives. Watch the battle and get attacked by zombies ore become a soldier (Project Z), the choice is yours. Located at the Cobra and Radja River. Cemetery Smell the breath of dead. A place of cursed souls and the birthplace of zombies. Located at the former dodgems, who is now the home for Insomnia. Kids Halloween The only zone you can flee from the zombies. This is a very family friendly zone with pumpkins, kids friendly ghosts etc at the Ferris wheel. Zombie Bar In for a cocktail ore other drink with blood-thirsty zombies? Then is the Zombie Bar the place to be! I'm really looking forward to this event again. Last year was absolutely outstanding and I really was nearly impressed by all the actors and mazes. Here are some pictures Walibiband.be took today of the progress from the event. It's going to start next weekend and ends the 3the of november. Freak Zombie is sork in progress Wall of death Cemetery Insomnia almost ready Marva's family is settling in, still under construction Zombie River gets his first theming elements, much more to come soon! I was really wondering what you guys think of this whole concept. I know, it isn't really that big compared to a Universal ore Six Flags in the US, but here this is really the big thing in Belgium and I thought it was interesting to share with you guys! I will share more pictures and videos when they are online!
  6. Netherlands: - Of course Efteling, it's a lovely park with great theming and scenery. The rides are fun, but they still miss a mayor thrillride in the park. You can visit it in one single day, but go during week time and avoid weekends. The only downside in my opinion about the park is that the walks from attraction to attraction can be big in like "you can't find a ride after 10 minutes of walking". And yes, I visit it very often (just a 1 hour and 30 minutes away from my place). - Walibi Holland is fun, especially Goliath is a great ride (I rank it above EGF, personal opinion). Speed of Sound (Vekoma Boomerang) is probably the best boomerang coaster you can find and they have an outdoor Rock&Rollercoaster. But be warned, they have the worst Vekoma SLC in the world (It was the first ever build, but still the worst of all). - Toverland: Lovely place with a very good GCI woodie, Troy, and an amazingly intense spinning coaster Dwervelwind from Mack Rides. It isn't that big, but fun for all ages. They are putting more and more theming in the park. Only "problem" can be that you can't really spend a whole day in the park in my opinion, but never say never of course. Belgium: - Walibi Belgium is also pretty fun. It has some decent rides like Loup-Garou (a very decent Vekoma woodie), Challenge of Tutankhamon (Sally Corporation dark ride and ETF Ride System, excellent ride) and of course Psyké Undergound, a classic Schwarzkopf Shuttle loop that is fully indoor. The park is improved enormously during the past 2-3 years. They have a indoor water park to and is cheaper for park guests (5 to 9 euro's per person). Pitty they haven't got that much theming. - Bobbejaanland: It has some descent rides like Sledge Hammer (Huss Gaint Frisbee) and Typhoon (Gerstlauer Eurofighter). They have also Revolution, a Vekoma Illusion model, and has the longest train on a rollercoaster. But the parks theming is not that amazing and most of the rides are just average. - Plopsaland de Panne has the best theming in Belgium. But with only a Gerstlauer looper (a very good one), a Disc'o Coaster from Zamperla and a Starflyer as major Thrill rides, it doesn't offer that much. Great for kids, but nothing really superb.
  7. Space Mountain in Disneyland Paris is finally getting trains improvement. The older trains will be replaced by new ones. On the picture you see the trains in the Disney Paris storage, I think they will get the "bullet theming" like the older trains any time now. Also, I haven't seen this video in this topic. In 2013, Dreams has got two new scenes (a Lion King and a Brave scene). Disneyland Paris official youtube channel has this awesome movie of the full show. I've watched it in real life a few weeks ago and I completely fell in love with it ! Disney Dreams is also getting a "winter edition" this year.
  8. Space Mountain: Mission 2 in Disneyland Paris. Great ride in my opinion!
  9. I live in a small town right next to Brussels in Belgium. My 'homepark' is Walibi Belgium, just 15 - 20 minutes from here. Other 'big' parks nearby: Bobbejaanland : 40 minutes Plopsaland de Panne : 1 hour and 30 minutes (by train 2 hours, the belgian railway system is the best! ) Efteling: 1 hour and 20 minutes Toverland: 1 hour and 30 minutes Phantasialand: 2 hours ... Europa-Park: 4 hours and 30 minutes (yeah not that nearby, but also not that far away from here...) -> Same for Disneyland Paris Resort. By car it takes 3 hours and 30 minutes, but I can take a TGV-train in Brussels station and the trip to Disney then only takes 1 hour .
  10. In Movie Park Germany a few days ago. Because Sponge bob is awesome, that's why :
  11. I really don't know... The launch of Anubis is a bit rougher and faster then the one on Psyké Underground, ore it felt that way yesterday. But I think the loop still gives a massive punch and kick, because it's still after all this years, the most intense looping in Belgium. I reviewed some locals (not-coaster enthusiast), and they all liked it very much! Although, the local coaster fans aren't really 'happy' with the transformation. The most of them say it's force-less as hell and it shall never be a good transformed Turbine/Sirocco. I don't understand why some fans react like that. Okay, the launch isn't powerful, but the looping is still insane and Walibi did effort to secure an old lady from scrap metal...
  12. Psyké Underground opened up! I've tested the coaster today, and I had a blast! The theming inside the ride is good (the tunnels are now dark, they get light-effects in the near future), the loop stays amazing, the launch isn't powerful (but when you sit backseat, i thought it was more forceful then front-seat). I enjoyed it. It isn't a shuttle loop like we know it, isn't that forceful at all (although the loop was still powerful, very disorient in the dark!), but still is a fun ride. Don't expect anything superb, like the more smooth and force less launch, but just enjoy the atmosphere around the coaster! Btw, the second ride was amazingly better then the first one, so give this baby more then one ride when you visit the park (I preferred backseat). After the pré-opening, the park surprisingly opened it up for public, and nobody expected that! My team waited for the reactions of the crowd, and they all loved it! I think that's a good thing? Some photos: Photos made by Kris, another member of the pretparken.be crew. Photo when the ride opened up for the public, queue wasn't empty anymore (photo thanks to pretparkkriebels.be) We didn't made an onride of the ride, but Walibiband.be, the parks official fansite, had the permission to do so. Here you have a little montage: Tomorrow, it's official open for the public! Note: can somebody fix the youtube-link, It doesn't work...
  13. I haven't ridden Sirocco back then because I was like 6 - 5 years old when I first saw him. I then only ridden him back in 2003, the first time i returned to the park after Six Flags owned it. I know already that the train will go high on the second spike because it will not brake on his way back, just like in the old times! I'm really looking forward to his grand opening in about a couple of hours. I'm almost ready to go to the park now for it's grand opening. See you guys in a few hours, I will give a full report on the ride and I'm going to try to take pictures !
  14. Do you have a link? I know it's a spoiler, but I know to much of the ride now so I can't really spoil more for myself now . If their is one thing I will do tomorrow, is riding it front seat! I rode Turbine back in 2006 and I loved it at the front! So yes, I'm going to do that of course .
  15. Compagnie des Alpes is really (and finally) improving the park this year, the way this park deserves it. The improvement on Radja River was a blast for me, and this wasn't the only thing that amazed me Tuesday. From what I know is that next year, the improvements go on and extent to Lucky Luke City. When this is finished, the whole park is 're-branded' to the new style of the world of Walibi. I think we can expect new rides from their on. If I'm right, the park celebrates his 40 year anniversary in 2015, I'm not hoping on a new ride then, but it would be very very nice to finally see something new in the park. Tomorrow evening I shall try to write my report about Psyké. I'm really curious about the launch also, but I'm looking forward to the classic looping . Stay tuned!
  16. Can't go Saturday. I'm going for the pres-meeting on Friday for pretparken.be (I'm one of the team-members). I will post some photo's that evening and write my experience of Psyké Underground . Btw, I was in the park yesterday, and I was amazed! Very good operations of the rides (full capacity on each ride, although the park was near empty), all the effects worked on each ride, Radja River is amazing this year and absolutely soaking wet,...
  17. Yes, i know where you read that, and I think it is rubbish. Tüv already checked the ride and Psyké is test-riding for a couple of months now. Just closing for more 'test rides' is just so dull. I think they are just waiting for the TMF action (a tv-show here who started a competition a few weeks ago. You could win an hour ERT before park opening on Psyké the 12th of July with it), what I think is stupid when the ride can be used already .
  18. It seems like the park is going to open Psyké Underground the 12th of July finally for the public. I'm going tomorrow, knowing the ride is still not officially open yet. I hope they are doing soft-openings because the whole ride is finished and TÜV gave the ride green light to open up. But I think that isn't going to happen. Never the less, I shall take pictures of my day and post them here . Updates follow soon! By the way, Walibi Connect is something 'new' from 2012, but not that many guest are using it. Nobody is really interested in the concept I think. This year, with the introduction of the new 'fast-pas system', it seems like nobody really cares about this concept anymore...
  19. Walibiband.be was in Psyké's station when the train tested. They where to late to see the launch, but you can see that the train doesn't brake to hard on his way back, just like before! I think the most Shuttles decrease speed by the brakes at the end, Psyké doesn't
  20. Psyké Underground is almost open for public! A new picture-update. I must say, Psyké is really looking awesome with the whole new theming. The old flywheel is also part of the new theming and works as 'old machine-room'. They wanted to keep it as a remark of the old Sirocco/Turbine, what I appreciate. I'm looking forward to it's reopening, I think it will finally open in a week ore so ! Main Entrance Old re-themed flywheel Entering the station Station Launch Looping with glowing bats and Monster (gets a 3D projection) Working on the last tube Thanks to Fotogalerijen.be! More pictures: http://www.fotogalerijen.be/20130621walibi/index.htm EDIT: Here is the themesong of the ride: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TdEYQlmPzYE
  21. Mhé, It's a 'Quick', the france/belgian fast food burger restaurant. I prefer Burger King ore Mcdo . Btw, Maus Au Chocolat is new from 2011, not 2012. Overall nice tripreport! I love Phantasia! Glad that this park is only a 2 hours drive for me, I've to visit it back for Chiapas this year, and just also because this park is just pure awesome.
  22. First tube of Psyké is done. The opening of the coaster is pretty nearby now... Thanks to Ameworld! Ow yeah by the way, Walibi introduced a new 'fast pass' system, which you can buy in two formulas: - One of 15 euros, where you can skip the line of 4 attractions. This formula isn't name based so you can skip with 4 friends 1 line, with 2 you can skip 2 lines etc. - The second of 36 euros. This is an unlimited 'skip the line' formula for one person (so it's name-based and can give it to friends). You can skip every line you like unlimited throughout your stay at the park. They sell only 500 'golden' fast passes each day to make sure the capacity of the rides isn't going to drop again. And also another thing. All Radja Rivers old effects are all working again, finnaly! Like this one for instance: Walibi is becoming really beautiful this year and I don't know why. Previous year, every fan was complaining that Walibi is nasty, boring etc. This year, they are improving each ride to guaranty the maximum of pleasure for every guest. And all of the sudden non of the fans are complaining. The only thing everybody still complains about is that they aren't building a new ride for (I think) 6 years. But I think, with this improvement, the park is ready for a whole new ride!
  23. Speed Flip on the local fair in 2008 in Leuven (Belgium). Really, this flatride was insane, a real puke ride that can speed up like crazy!
  24. I think I would liked it more when the second lifthill was a launch and I understand what Robb is saying about the 'record' (the pause between the 'two coaster parts' is pretty long). But like he also said, I think this is a fun ride to do. Personally, I have no problem with two lifthills. I'm not really gonna ride The Smiler because it's a 14 inversion coaster, I'm gonna ride it because it looks really awesome to ride. While not so 'really creative' with the two lifts, I think the interlocking Batwing and Cobra Roll looks awesome any way. Especially when you see two trains at the same time going trough the two types of inversions. Interlocking isn't unique in any way, but so many interlockings in one small place, that's really impressive to see. I'm looking forward to October, then I can finnaly say what I think of The Smiler .
