  1. Looks short but intense and twisted! Should be interesting with just lap bars. Another amazing picture... it's a couple of weeks old but I just saw it today: source:www.facebook.com/galvestonislandpier
  2. 4 hours and 45 minutes for Top Thrill Dragster on opening day. And it was worth it, at the time.
  3. ^Good guess! You got the right manufacturer but the wrong continent.
  4. No contest, El Toro is much smoother. The topper track portion of GA Cyclone feels more like a new GCI. Smooth, but not Intamin woodie smooth.
  5. ^Yep, it's from Warren (near Detroit). I've been to the brewpub; they have a number of really excellent beers. Unfortunately they don't have a very wide distribution, but they do bottle many of their brews, so they're not too hard to get if you can visit Michigan or have a friend send some. I really like Dark Lord, although I understand why some people dont' love it. It varies from year to year, and doesn't hold up as well as some other RISs when aged. I think it's best after about 1 year. Any earlier and it's too sweet, any later and it gets a bit flat and the flavors muddle. A 2007 DL I drank in 2008 is still the single best beer I've ever had.
  6. My two cents on the topper track on Cyclone: The first part of the ride is really transformed - it's very smooth, but it still has just a hint of roughness to remind you it's a woodie. Then you hit the third hill and it's right back to the old roughness. There's still lots of intense rough airtime on several of the drops. I hope this was a test to see how the track system worked, and they spend the next off season installing topper track on the entire ride.
  7. Model: Sony Vaio VPCL11 OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit Processor: Intel Core2 Quad CPU 2.67GHz RAM: 6GB Harddrive: 455GB 24" widescreen HD touchscreen LCD
  8. Just had a Kuhnhenn Bourbon Barrel Fourth Dementia... holy cow, one of the best beers I've ever had.
  9. Cute new Tokyo Disney commercial: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=clFq7xwxV-Q
  10. Thanks for the pics and review! I've wanted to visit the Ghibli Museum for a while, but just didn't make it there the two times I was in Tokyo. Some day....
  11. I agree! What a bizarre quiz theme.
  12. ^^^But the first drop goes below grade in a trench, as illustrated in this diagram from GCI's facebook page: Wodan is the purple track. I don't think the height of the first drop has been released, but it looks like it goes maybe 5m below grade. That could explain how it will hit 115 kmph. Although you're right, that still seems fast. It's over 70mph!
  13. It's not necessarily 100% accurate, but I think this list is pretty close: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_roller_coaster_rankings#Tallest_roller_coaster_inversions
  14. Great layout, great theming... can't wait to ride! Is this the first B&M invert without the "B&M bump" off the lifthill? It will be interesting to see how the back seat feels on the first drop.
  15. Are you talking about Fulton County Airport? It's not anywhere close to being the second busiest... not even in the top 50. It doesn't have passenger flights, just general aviation.
  16. This is starting to look like the ride of 2012.
  17. Opening day can be very busy - last year it was packed. I'd suggest going the following day (Sunday).
  18. Well I'm from Utica and I've never heard anyone use the phrase "steamed hams"
  19. ^Great pics! I loved Petra, such a unique historical site!
  20. ^^Agreed! More cultural photo TR goodness! Pyramid of the moon mmm, breakfast quesadilla... In Mexico city, a quesadilla doesn't necessarily have to have cheese. In the local dialect it just means a grilled corn tortilla with any ingredients you want. This one was a blue masa tortilla with chicken, potatoes, and salsa verde! Just a dude sittin' around On the canals at Xochimilco Creepy doll island at Xochimilco. Did I mention it was CREEPY? Torre Mayor, the tallest skyscraper in Mexico Olmec head! Like Legends of the Hidden Temple! This was called the monument to the hero babies. Seriously.
  21. ^I said it was "by far the best Morgan hyper." I was comparing it to Steel Force, Mamba, Wild Thing, and Steel Eel. But I haven't been on Phantom's Revenge or Steel Dragon 2000, so I can't compare. In any event, I found Superman to be smoother and more forceful than the four other "traditional" Morgan hypers. Don't be nervous! Mexico City is the safest part of the country. I honestly did not once feel unsafe while traveling in the city. I even went to the parks alone (my friends don't do coasters, they went to a museum while I went on coasters!), and didn't have any problems whatsoever on the metro or taking taxis alone. I think the city gets an unfair bad rap! The US state dept just updated their travel info for Mexico, and there is no warning for Mexico City. There's not even an "advisory" for Mexico City. Of course it doesn't hurt to stay vigiliant, I kept my wallet in my front pocket just to be safe, never walked alone at night, and didn't go into any neighborhood that I hadn't read about in a guidebook or online. So, you should all go to Mexico City! But wait for Medusa to be re-tracked first, and stay away from the borders.
  22. I loved that little shuttle loop. Very fun ride. The elevator has been rusting in a field for over a decade though, not sure it would be very useful. The OTSRs on the Pinfari also occasionally popped open during the ride.
  23. Yes, and in the photo of the ride sign I think the think on the ground to the left is the front of one of the old trains. I'm not sure when/why they got rid of the old trains.
