Topper track is noticeably smoother than wood, but done in such a way that you can still tell it's a woodie. That's my opinion on it after riding two with some sections having topper track, but this will be the first with prefab pieces so who knows what it will be like until we ride it. -

So I was going to head north to the east side but beatle11 talked me into going north to the west side for a visit to Six Flags Great America on May 28th. I have heard this park can have it's good and bad days and thankfully for me, my second visit to the park was just as good as my first visit last year. This was considered a school day and the park was plagued with school kids, but as any well traveled enthusiast knows, these kids go home early. So I planned accordingly by picking and choosing rides to the left of the main entrance and making the circle. I was able to marathon about anything I wanted on the lower side of the park the first few hours, score! Most of the crowds ran with the bulls to X-Flight while I took a leisurely stroll over to batman. All in all it was an enjoyable day, even more enjoyable when fellow TPR peeps JoJo and Jeremie showed up around 4:30. So here we go! And if you want to see all of my taco free photos, clicky. Figure I'd change up the front entrance shot a little bit, gotta be different. Lunch! I don't recall seeing this last time, of course I wasn't looking for it either, but they do have some rather tasty fresh baked donuts and whatnot, a surprise for a Six Flags park. I found most of the teachers could be located in here. Please ride me, please ride me...ok, why not. Nothing like solo rides to get your day started. They just don't build them like they used to. Wow, long lines this morning. Yeah, that's right, you guys are headed straight into the bowels of hell, muwahahaha No swimming. This has to be one of the most photogenic Six Flags parks. Even last September when I visited the park was full of color and vibrant so I'm glad to see it's a full time thing. Pole riders. Hey, there was no moose out front! Hi ironic. There is no, Life I know, To compare with pure imagination, Living there, You'll be free, If you truly wish to...be Who knows that this is used on? Bonus points for who can say what it is. Hint WARNING! Keep your hands inside the car at all times. Your missing traditional X-Flight photos you say? Well fine, here you go. They get an A for the theme. And a B&M for effort. But most importantly they have the cool factor. Now showing on TNT. If you thought when Shapiro left the ad wraps would leave too, you thought wrong, very very wrong. Enough of that, lets go drop in on Anton via a painful experience. Anton looks good through the trees. Whizzing away Anton loves you too. "Justin! Justin! I'm your biggest fan! Justin Bieber look here!" All of that riding makes me sweat, time to cool off a bit. More like a lot. Not Dan approved. Speaking of water, lets finish up with some photos from the sky. A well placed tower makes all the difference in the world. The flags were all down in the water park, no six flags day today. On a clear day you can see....for miles! You can also look at steel if you prefer Fly little bird, fly. > Cyclone. And as I bring this adventure to an end, I'll take a quick minute to peek down Anton's shirt. There you have it, that's all folks! Next week we will play a little game where I will give a way some decent crap. What's the game, well, it's has to deal with cleanliness. Any guesses on what it will be? -

^^That was the walking taco with the non-grated cheese. I've seen variations of it at other places using Doritos, I was however very disappointed in the dispenser cheese put on them. ^They won't make you sick or anything, I mean are they good, yes, are they party in my mouth good? No. I've actually had some really good Mexican in Cali, looking forward to coming back for more Anyway -

Greetings fellow coaster geeks, Uncle Chadster is here bringing you the finest coaster porn found anywhere across these parts. What am I talking about? Well, you'll just have to look to find out! Oh, while I'm at it, want to know what they are calling SDC's super secret to be announced coaster? I thought so Can't get enough pictures? My full album can be reached by clicking here Strap yourselves in... Because we are ready to blast off To see what we can see from through the trees (Hint) Because I think that fat lady is about to sing As this looks in no way shape or form like a movie screen anymore Although it does appear as if they will still have a concession stand several of them in fact So chuga chuga choo choo we go on this 101 degree day. When people on the train yelled "Fire in the Hole" They really meant their seats. huh, what's this? Perhaps an Old West town? Look at him, looking all sexy and photogenic and you too Please, don't tease me, tell me what you are going to call it!! So after the train dives off the drop, you swoop along the terrain and fly up and over the top How do I know this? You'll see you can sorta see here, but keep moving on, there really isn't anything to see here So if you launched an imaginary coaster train off the imaginary track, you might end up like this. "Huh? They's buildin sometin down ther? What they call it?" Now it starts to get interesting folks, pay attention to the left See the nice curve on the left coming from the lift then aiming towards the left (if you are riding it, it would curve left) and it climbs up into an over bank before darting back towards the lift and through the hill If you look far out on the right, you will see the track leading into the turnaround Looking through the trees you can see the track with what kinda looks like a bunny hill, but not, this is close to the bottom of the drop Next we take a look at the movie screen Hey look! Land mines! Wonder why those are here, hmmm, oh yeah, I kinda already told you, it comes back through here and busts over the lift hill! Speaking of the lift hill, let's check in with the ticketing booth. The anti-rollbacks are in along with the projector and chain tray Nice shiny new projector. The electrical equipment is also in place, possibly even the housings for the ride computers. So you want to know what they call it? I told you I'd tell you, sooo... They call it....INCOMPLETE! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA Get it, they call it incomplete, hehehehehe Looking back at the loading dock you can see the track is all in place in the station, er, ticketing booth wait a second... what are all these land mines...it can only mean one thing.... The imaginary coaster is going to come back over the train and into the ticketing booth. This thing is gonna travel out behind the roundhouse. OMFG, it's huge! (that's what she said) So there that is, took the train 3 times today, yes three. Why? video coming later this week For now, I'll holster my pistol. August 9th is the the big date, and for those following along at home, you can go to their website for more details -

Oh lord another fanboy. I'm sorry that you don't agree with my assesment of the park. I live near dozens of authentic owned by real Mexicans Mexican restaurants and compared to them, the tacos were just ok. Sorry, but that's my opinion. And yes, the walking taco that I also had had cheese wiz on it, hate to tell you but it did. Furthermore I watched the segment on the 2009 one offshow titled Sunnys Summer Eats. It's on YouTube. A good portion of that two minute and change segment was her riding the sky ride, a roller coaster, and talking with people as well as the owner of the taco shoppe. The part directly related to the Taco Shoppe where they show how they prepare the tacos was damn close to 30 seconds. A few notes, this site is built on humor,if you can't deal with humor, this may not be the place for you. Am I worried that you will not ever read anything I post again? No. Because your registration today just to bitch that you didn't like what I thought about your beloved taco stand tells me all I need to know. If you like the site, please stick around, but don't come in here, first post and sound off, its not only rude but highly disrespectful to one of the sites most active contributors of quality content. Peace, love, and happiness. And now that I have taken time to respond to your asinine comments, I am going to go back out in the hundred degree heat to continue gathering exclusive content for the those who enjoy my reports to read. -

^The tacos were ok, but not earth shattering and certainly a step above Six Flags food. I found that they were using mostly bought-in pre-prepared ingredients and was expecting a little more fresh if that makes sense. The gum is still there, I didn't mind it actually, it was one of the things that was actually cool. Sue happy America. I'm deducing it's to prevent people from standing up while the ride is in motion just like the ferris wheels and a laundry list of other rides that have given in to this sad state. I suppose it was cheaper to hang a sign than to spend a few hundred on belts and bolts. Did the réstraints on the S&S Double Shot even ratchet down at all, or was it just the seatbelt holding you in? Yeah, they were down and locked, just a tad loose tho I honestly had to take a step back and think how the park might have turned out in the photos had it been a clear blue sky instead of angry looking clouds about to unleash hell; I don't think it would have helped much other than the background not looking washed out. Like others have said, I just get the sense of lack of care. Even at the ghettoist of parks, like Keansburg, they look like they give a damn. On this visit at least, I get the impression they don't. So next up on my Mid America Adventure I head north, and north could mean SFGA or MA, hmmm, tough choice. -

Ah Keansburg, one of my favorite ghetto parks. A nighttime visit adds a lot of, um, character to the park, and by character, I mean, characters. The ride op on wildcat if I remember correct where eating their dinner while dispatching the ride, classic. The bumper cars were a mixture of sorts so naturally we migrated to the Lusse's. Did they not offer an unlimited ride wristband? I know we were able to get them last summer.

Good guess, but not quite yet. Yeah, those were my thoughts. Funny thing. I walk up to the ticket booth that says open. Inside the lady is all confused and asks "Can I help you?" Um yeah, I'd like a ticket. "Oh, well, um, I'm groups sales and getting ready for 400-500 students, but let me try to get you one" She did, it took her a minute, and was nice and all but if you are going to open a ticket booth just for groups hang a sign that says groups only. The best part, they really thought 500 students in the park was going to be madness...you hardly noticed. -

Quoted for truth as I couldn't have summed it up any better. It's a shame as like you said, the parks is in a great location, is full of potential, and close to hundreds of thousands of potential patrons. I'm thinking....North -

As part of my Mid America Adventure I made a stop by Indiana Beach to check out the park just in case it closes I had high hopes going into the day and was pumped up to visit the park as it's my "type" of park. Unfortunately my visit fell a tad short of my expectations as I felt it was missing that Morey's Piers feel I was expecting. Operations were also slow on my visit with Cornball dispatching about once every 8 minutes. But not all was a total disappointment, the YoYo is VERY good and I got my first ever VALLEY while riding a coaster! Would I visit again, sure, I'd give it another try, after all, I really wanted to fall in love with the park, it just for some reason didn't happen. So lets move on and see some photos shall we? But wait, not enough photos for you? Click your mouse here. And we have arrived! Actually I guess it should be I have arrived as there is no "we" anymore. Anyway I arrived just as the park gates were opened as heavy rain was forecast for the afternoon. Pretty sure it's supposed to have water in it. First up, the Galaxy. Note: Beepers are not allowed on this ride, however loose object appear to be allowed... Looks safe. Hi tech ride control system looks safe. Ride car looks....safe. I honestly thought I was going to die as the entire way up the lift the car was bouncing, thumping, and vibrating. I braced for my life but surprisingly it smoothed out, whew. Next I thought I'd try the scrambler, but was denied because I was a single rider. They claim the ride manufacture says single riders are not allowed...WTF?!?! So after declining a ride with 12 year old girls (for obvious reasons) I moved on to the next best thing. The Flying Bobs. I actually liked this ride a lot as they ran it bobs out. Get it, bobs out, ha ha. Ummm, looks safe? Car 1: "OMG, what IS that?" Car 2 Girl: "I can't believe you" Car 2 Boy: "It wasn't me I swear!" Car 3: Dammit! Quit busting ass! After not being open when the park opened, I ran over to the Lost Coaster, where I was able to find it. Apparently trains go in the cave and are supposed to come out the other side. To do that, they go up the hydro lift which was actually one the best parts of the ride as I had no clue what held the thing in place on the way up. Our train went in... But we didn't come out! We VALLEYED in the tunnel!!! Holy Crap we are really stuck in here! They had a mechanic waiting on the train when it rounding the corner inside the cave to try and give it a push but no go! Can I get out this way! We actually begged for an evac but we didn't get it. Reinforcements were sent in and they pushed the train up the incline and over the hill....off we went, only to valley again!! So what was up? The wheels were over lubed, too thick and caused the bearings to not turn freely. Yeah, I'd hated to have been that guy. So after the totally awesome valley, it was off to try this out. State law says you have to be 54" to ride. From the platform I found this mess. And then turned around to see this mess. OMFG WE ARE GOING TO DIE! Double train! Your obligatory carousel shot. Noted. Acceptable amount of wetness. Probably the shortest flume outside of the one at Frontier City that I've been on. After getting wet, I went to check out Steel Hawg, interesting ride, that's for sure, pretty fun too. Must have a NERD SHOT! Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Yuuuup! Best. Yo Yo. EVAR! Nice speed on the Himalaya. Looks like they took the background from a Reverchon and painted over which is too bad as those had some quality artwork. Oh yeah, the Falling Star was sort of SBNO Can't forget about the 10 foot gap in the restraining mechanism drop tower! Not bad at all. On the way out I found this "Featured on Food Network" Taco Stand. Not exactly believing them I looked it up on my phone to find it was featured in about a 30 second block as the best taco...on the boardwalk maybe. I tried it, it was ok. Cheese whiz, pre-cut and bagged lettuce, standard taco meat, nothing amazing, but it was cheap. And with that, I walk on to my next Adventure. Any guesses as to where that will be?!?! -
Don't forget your kid for Coyote Sunday you will be fine until after church is out and people have stuffed their faces, then the crowd level starts to pick up. Knock out NTAG first(NTAG can see waits up to 90 minutes an hour into opening) while queuing up Titan on the Pass. After Titan, I would cut back through to Shockwave (should be able to sit on it a few rides up until 11:30ish) while queuing up Freeze or Batman(Batman can see 90-120 minute waits). After Freeze/Batman head around for Judge (don't forget to queue up Panda while you wait for judge) and on the way to Panda try to whore out the kiddie. By then you'll be down to two credits, Runaway and Intathing, both should be on the pass. Doable in three to four hours if you map it out then you'll have plenty of time for the *cough* flats and re-rides. As has been mentioned Gold will yield up to 75% time off, but depending on the number of people who buy gold and how many are queued up for a particular ride you could see wait times range from 50-75% off actual time.

I thought something was strange when I tried to talk to Pat Koch about the project at Holiwood nights as she gracefully side stepped any reference to it. Just goes to show that anytime a board or government body is involved things can turn south quick. And it is very true, we all know this, that without proper maintenance and upkeep any property be it a mall or amusement park that is unoccupied, the facility will deteriorate to the point of no return. So shame on the fairboard for not doing more to protect the tax payer's property, only they are to blame for the parks condition. Edit: Did you guys watch the news footage of the park posted here? Reminds me of SFNO. I'm afraid I'm gonna have to agree with Robb, stick a fork in it, it's done.
