  2. Speaking of Santa Cruz, let's head there next before making the trek to the East coast. Because I love Morey's Piers I had often been told I would love Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. While I only had about 90 minutes to spend, (yes I made the hour + drive from the main hwy for just 90 minutes) I knew I wouldn't be even remotely close for the next few years and said self, you're going. And going I did. Upon arrival I knew this was a town I could spend a weekend in. And having been to many beach communities, there are now only three that I care to spend a weekend in. Virginia Beach and Wildwood being the other two as they all have a sense of energy and relaxation, a way to escape the real world if you will. The boardwalk itself has a great selection of rides, some of which are not open during the week (so call ahead and gather that info before you go). Ticket prices seemed normal when compared to other beachside parks, which means its a tad pricey, but the view, yeah, it's worth it. And hey, who doesn't like a park that has two dark rides? Here we are at Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. Man it was fun finding the right amount of change for the parking meter. Hope you all can live without an official walking into the park photo. If you can't, well, go cry in the basement for a bit. Go ahead. Get it all out. Better? Ok. First up was the first thing I came to after procurement of the appropriate number of tickets I would need. I did the math, time + money - time park was open until = wristband didn't make sense. What's a park that doesn't have horses who run in circles but never seem to get ahead? For those that like skyway action, here you go. I did manage a loop on it, was quite nice with the ocean breeze. No, no areal photos, I just enjoyed myself. By looking out over the ocean, perverts. Speaking of ocean, hi ocean! You look nice and oceany today. To answer the question, did you go in? Yes, I walked down, dipped my toes in the water and put my ass in the sand, but sadly no beer in my hand. Afterwards it was time to hunt down the grand prize. This is kinda cool, something to see while you wait. Scarey looking tunnel. For it's age and location, this ride has been very meticulously cared for. And much to my delight it was very good. In fact, I rode twice. Because I could. If you've never been, and could only ride one thing here, Giant Dipper would be what you want. Oh, and the sticks stuffed in wieners aren't bad either. One of my top 5 flat rides. Don't ask me why. Giant Frisbee? Yeah, that's in the list too. Too bad I just had a hot dog. Anyway the sun was setting casting a nice orange glow over the park. Beautiful. The irony of having a water ride next to the ocean. Looking out over the secondary midway. Yeah that's what I'm calling it, level 0 if you will. It's below ground level it would seem, or is it? I spy shooting dark ride... It is! Woot Woot! Be sure to eat your ice cream before getting on the rock-o-plane! And if you didn't experience any discomfort, go ahead and get a deep fried twinkie and head over to the Tsanami No? Ferris wheel more your speed? Well, ok then. Let's head downstairs. Go ahead, ride it. Right after that dole whip. Hmmm, what is this? Nope, that's not what it is. It seems familiar. But I can't quite tell. Nope, that's not it either. Well I'll be damned, it's a kiddie coaster! Might as well, I'm here and all. Bye level 0, you were fun blasting and rotating! Time for a little stroll on the way out, time was ticking as the boardwalk was closing. Next time, I'll at least stay overnight. And then spend the day at the boardwalk/beach Good night Giant Dipper Good night Undertow. P.S. I loved this place!
  3. Since this has become the pseudo official thread for Adventureland, for the nerdiest of enthusiasts enjoy watching the hurricane be dismantled. [youtu_be] [/youtu_be]
  4. Could be a variety of reasons as it was manufactured for S&S. A reasonable route would take the track through Utah so a stop at S&S seems logical for historical reasons, to add items to the load that S&S had manufactured, or simply because they wanted to look it over.
  5. Here is some additional information: 2015 Installations: Tot Jumping Spring (used) Rockin' Tug (new) 2016 Installation: Falling Star (used) Both of the used rides are coming from the same seller on the east coast, so detectives, which park could be offloading these rides? greenbaypressgazette
  6. Posted to SFFT Twitter a bit ago. I love the marketing initiative to install a sign on the track as it makes its way from Idaho
  7. Looks like Bay Beach is getting three new rides for 2015 and 2016!
  8. Well the extra bells equates to the pick a box game for donuts. Got two the first try so spent 50k and tried again for the three. Not sure it was worth all that effort but whatever.
  9. I'm out of elves, was hoping to light the fuse a few more times. Need about 45 elves to hit the 4k bonus. I imagine it'll be donuts, if it's cog wheels, I'll be pissed. I slowed down play thinking it was over, this extra day kinda pisses me off too, otherwise I'd have kept playing regular.
  10. Wrong side. This was in the article also........Make sure you get your last rides in on the last few family rides remaining before they're removed after this year. Turnpike cars, Cadillac Cars, dodgem, and calypso will be removed to make room for this new ride!
  11. Got the island the other day, kind of a disappointment as was the spruce caboose. At least the caboose makes money. The best part for me on this update has been shooting the cannon.
  12. I'm by no means an expert on outdoor elevators, especially in California, but I do know how much Otis used to cost us each month for maintenance on indoor elevators that reached 9 stories. It was just around 8k a month. They would come out, and PM the elevators at regular intervals and whenever needed to fix buttons, lights, etc. And as it often happens a generator blew up which resulted in the need for replacement, all covered under the service contract. So the big question that comes to my mind is: Does the state consider those elevators an amusement attraction or do they fall under the purview of California Department of Industrial Relations (according to the regulation link below, in theory it should be the CDIR) If the later, I wouldn't think it would be that hard to get and keep a maintenance contract with someone like OTIS. In many states you are not allowed to perform the maintenance yourself and it must be done by a certified party. The Law
  13. Watched a guy being escorted by security at SFOT the other day; had a wrist strapped gopro which was a nono. Long story short, out the front gate he went, likely after erasing any video that may have been captured.
  14. Needs more lego. Seriously tho, that was great.
  15. Looking good! Grab me a sign next time
  16. Jealous? You can buy a shirt in the TPR store.
  17. This is just flat out creepy. If you are as well versed in the park as you say you are then you knew they had a lot of trees that needed to be replanted. So your sarcasm comment was what was really unneeded.
  18. And they already had a hell of a time trying to figure out where they were going to re-plant the trees they had to cut down for outlaw run.
  19. And we will gladly accept their tax revenue to continue refurbishing the infrastructure near the park.
  20. I'm sure it's a real possibility depending on how well they do at SFOT and SFSL, afterall Six Flags has in the past placed identical rides at multiple parks.
  21. Thanks everyone. Nope! The San Juan Grill near the mine train serves beer and wine! Totally agree. They have several types of paddle boats and float around ride, but a nice log flume using the topology would round this park out nicely. I am completely distraught that I did not know they had cinnamon rolls. Upon checking with the park, they are still sold in the Sugar Plum Farm restaurant.
  22. If you haven't been following TPR on twitter, you missed out on last weeks progress on Justice League: Battle for Metropolis! Crews have been busy pouring concrete, clearing out the old Rockin' Rocket, putting up walls, and finishing off the addition to the ride building. Do you have what it takes to save Metropolis? [youtu_be] [/youtu_be] [youtu_be] [/youtu_be] Crews were installing the final forms needed to complete the front of building expansion. The is the load platform. Inside the building walls are going up that will separate the various scenes This is the building expansion that sits above the reservoir pond for Roaring Rapid. As you can see interior construction is moving right along. Roaring Rapids will re-open in 2015 once construction is complete. The carcass of Rockin' Rocket has been removed. By the construction lights is the ride unload platform. It's location and the need for a queue made it necessary for the Rocket to meet it's maker. But really, is anyone truly complaining? Between Sally, Oceaneering, Alterface, and Pure Imagination, JL:B4M promises to be the best dark ride built to date. You can see here that walls are going up 3D is on it's way. The crews are working hard to ensure the ride opens as scheduled this spring. Finally from the back, the building addition is just about closed in. In no time at all we will be battling Lex Luther and The Joker to save Metropolis! Who's as excited as we are?! Some photos courtesy of Six Flags over Texas
