Frontier City Announces 'Brain Drain'
chadster replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
If I recall, 3 of the last 4 years the park has added a new attraction. Wild West, the flyers, and now this. The off year they focused on infrastructure improvements mainly to the outdoor theatre. While the amount of money being spent on the park isn't that of adding a B&M or Intamin Mega Light, the money they are spending is making a huge impact on attendance and spend. It's only a matter of time before they get that next big E Ticket -
The music has a Sea World feel to it, like the stuff that plays when Manta Orlando hits the breaks. #nerd Started the rod-a-thon last night around 11pm, already up to 3200, prison here I come!

Here are some screen grabs, I've learned they don't have the drawings available for whatever reason. Also said location same as Ft. Worth, chosen but unannounced. This is music mountain, inside they will have coasters and the Alabama Music Hall of Fame (to be relocated) Map view inside the mountain will have some sort of drive in movie ride some sort of ride the musical notes while on a turntable. teacup type ride? idk Gospel shows and stuff over here choo choo to take you places around the park

Watching online, seems like the same speeches they gave in Ft. Worth. Listening to this provident guy, he is not prepared at all, similar to Ft. Worth. Keeps talking about why Muscle Shoales and he says its because he lives there and sees all the press there, and because it's special, and because they have recording studios there. A lot of words, especially the word 'hope' but not a lot of substance. He also says that the project is fully funded. Take that for what it's worth as he begs for community support.

I'm hearing rumblings that Benbrook might be the selected city. A quick look at google earth suggests there could be enough land there. As to why they would say Ft. Worth, who knows, it's a suburb. Of course Texas Motor Speedway took similar issue with Denton and being called Ft. Worth. IDK, as a whole seems unrealistic. Edit: The money guy said in Alabama that both projects are fully funded. We will see...

Worlds of Fun (WOF) Discussion Thread
chadster replied to OzCatter's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
If you had a platt pass you would have been able to gain access to OOF without any additional fees. -
Someone in the local print media researched undeveloped land parcels available in the county on the scale that they're talking about and found that there are none. I would say that is accurate as 5000ac = 7.8125mi² I'm in no way saying this project will happen, however it is quite common for equity companies to create spinoffs to protect the parent. The last company I worked for was setup in this fashion. Parent, Subsidiary, and then the LLC whom my checks came from. The parent then funded the subsidiary which in turn initially funded the LLC, of course it stands on its own now paying back the parent and using the Subsidiary as the bank to fund new mortgages. It was mind blowingly complex. The amount of capital they are seeking will need Warren Buffett's checkbook.

I just get this feeling that they have good intentions, they certainly have big dreams and all dreamers have good intentions. And they spent a chunk of change on the event so they obviously have some R&D money. However the first 20 minutes talked about their current projects in CGI work and the adaptation of Nadia into a Broadway Musical. As to why they haven't been talking with the city of Ft. Worth, who knows, but you would think you would want them, the county, the state, and the chamber involved (non-disclosures are common on these types of unannounced projects which would keep it clear of the freedom of information act) so that you could take advantage of any and all economic development incentives. Afterall Texas is handing out inventives like candy and businesses like Toyota are swallowing them whole. They would also be instrumental in helping to secure land and develop infrastructure. In 5 years to build a themepark of this size you are going to need everyone from the power and water to TXDOT on the same page, and quick. Keep in mind this is the second time this project has been announced, only this time there was somewhat more substance. The video I did receive a copy of but for the caliber of company that Dreamvision is in reference to their CGI works, I was expecting more. It honestly looks like a novice youtuber put it together. What I did not receive were copies of any renderings as those were not available. The renderings I posted were taken from the video which by the way was compiled in May 2013. Let's also not forget that an indoor ski resort is already on the books to be placed in Grand Prairie less than 30 miles from where Dreamscape might be so I'm not sure how two of these could be supported. By comparison, Nebraska Furniture Mart is building a 2 million sq ft warehouse and showroom not far from me. That project sits on 200 acres and while the store will open after almost 2.5 years of round the clock construction, the remaining first phase of the surrounding restaurants and other stores will not be complete until mid 2016, almost 4 years after ground was broke. Long answer short, the project has a chance, but is it a serious one? I'm not convinced there is at this time.

LOL They sure do know how to throw around some industry names though. I mean, if it weren't for the $3.5 Billion price tag I'd have a little faith that this could be a possibility. So their "investment firm" is what's based out of Muscle Sholes? Are they really going to propose a second $3.5 billion park over there, or will it be something like studios? Yep, the investment arm is out of Muscle Shoales along with a 2nd park with a different theme.

Well today was the big day, Dreamvision Company announced it's plans for a 5,000 acre Theme Park named "DreamVision Mountain, Dreamscape Texas" a destination resort to be located near Ft. Worth. The site has been chosen but will not be announced until later as I suspect the land deals are not yet complete. I would however anticipate the park to be located along I-35W near Alliance Airport. Overall the project looks like a combination of WDW Resort and Universal Orlando with shops, dining, a performing arts center, and hotels surrounding the Theme Park. The park will feature a transportation center which will be necessary for gaining access to the park itself (think Magic Kingdom), and will feature multiple themed lands that uses 'Hope River' as a tie in. From the transportation center you will enter DreamVision Mountain. Dreamvision mountain will be the largest indoor winter skiing venue in the world and is being engineered by Malcolm Clulow, the same person who designed and engineered Ski Dubai. Skiing for all experience levels, snow tubing, bobsledding, and snowboarding among other activities will be offered. Surrounding the mountain you will find multiple lands including Tinseltown, Metropolis (a New York city themed area), and Wild West. You can expect family friendly and thrill rides including at least one roller coaster. As you depart at the end of the day you will experience a fireworks show. Dave Goodman has been named President of Dreamvision Theme Parks and has previously worked for Sea World and Walt Disney. Overall details were still scarce but does appear to be funded by Provident Global LLC, and they will need a lot of it with an estimated cost of 3.5bn. Here are the renderings: New Picture.bmp The dream book of renderings New Picture (1).bmp The mountain is slated to be the centerpiece of the park with slops, bobsledding, and snow tubing indoors. New Picture (2).bmp New Picture (3).bmp Performing Arts Center New Picture (4).bmp Inspiration for the mountain has been taken from Thomas Kinkade and will feature some of his works. It goes up and down, get it? New Picture (15).bmp Fairy Tale land New Picture (19).bmp Earthquake coaster Here are my notes from today's Press Conference which seemed to focus a lot on their upcoming animation projects and less on theme park for those that care to read them. thescoopblog.dallasnews.com/2015/02/yet-again-the-promise-of-a-5000-acre-theme-park-in-fort-worth-its-news-to-fort-worth-too.html/ Looks like a big week for the Dreamvision people :/ " In May 2013 a press conference was scheduled in Fort Worth to announce a massive theme park planned by a faith-based entertainment-maker called The DreamVision Company. Its CEO, Rick Silanskas, promised big things: “We see this as the future family entertainment capital of the world — that’s a big statement to make,” he told KTVT-Channel 11. “There will be substantial opportunity as far as educational development in film, television, animation, and theme park development.” Around the same time, D reported that “DreamVision officials said they hope to produce films and Broadway shows, and possibly build a Christian theme park in Fort Worth.” But nothing ever came of the fireworks. Today, Fort Worth officials say the company’s gone “silent.” They also had no idea DreamVision until this morning that DreamVision has scheduled another press conference next week to announce … wait for it .. an “approximately” 5,000-acre theme park in Fort Worth. “I can’t imagine where there would be 5,000 acres to do such a thing,” says Fort Worth media coordinator Kevin Neal. He considers it for a second, and says, well, maybe there’s a big enough spot in north Fort Worth — “maybe near Alliance Airport, the only place I could think of.” The office of Congresswoman Kay Granger, who represents that part of Tarrant County, tells The Dallas Morning News this is news to them. On Friday, DreamVision apparently issued a press release promising a $3.5 billion theme park in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, complete with “golf courses, water parks, hotels, theatres, concert venues, retail and more.” That same release also mentioned the resurrection of the Fort Worth theme park. And, sure enough, according to the company’s website an 11 a.m. press conference is scheduled to live stream on the site Monday announcing what’s currently being billed as “DreamVision Mountain” in “DreamScape, Texas,” which I believe is where Dennis Quaid was born. But many questions remain, and DreamVision isn’t yet eager to answer them. We called this morning for more info and two hours later received a press release from Trisha Clayton, who has a San Francisco area code and a Comcast email account. She said she’d set up an interview with Rick Silanskas following the Monday presser, which the release says is scheduled to take place at The Ashton Depot near the Water Gardens and convention center. Per the release, here’s what the press conferences promises: “new details about the park including visuals,” an “approximate opening date,” “estimated employment” figures and “additional ventures and details.” Silanskas will speak; so to will Ron Logan, DreamVision’s chief creative officer and a former executive vice president at Disney who cast most of its live-entertainment productions. In Alabama, local officials are as in the dark as Fort Worth officials. “No city officials were notified of the big news either,” reports WAAY-TV. An Alabama state rep told the Times Daily he’s “cautiously optimistic” about the proposed development there, but the Muscle Shoals mayor had no idea what DreamVision’s talking about. On Friday AL.com’s Paul Gattis wrote that “no one in Alabama seems to know about it … not the mayor of Muscle Shoals, not the president of the Shoals Chamber of Commerce and not the state secretary of commerce.” Gattis followed up yesterday by noting that the release that went out last week announcing the Fort Worth and Muscle Shoals development “was sent to media outlets on Friday from what appeared to be a personal Gmail account.” The press release isn’t on the company’s website, but there is an October 2014 “exclusive” kinda-sorta concerning the proposed development from Orlando-based Attractions Magazine touting “The Birth Of A New Theme Park.” It doesn’t say where. Another “exclusive” on Attractions Magazine’s website in July noted only a proposed $4-billion North Texas theme park with a proposed $4 billion price tag. DreamVision used to be based in Orlando, incidentally. Both pieces promise it will be North Texas’ version of Disneyland — a theme park imbued “with the essence of Walt Disney himself,” as Attractions put it last summer. “I was fascinated by what [Walt Disney] created and the way he presented it,” says Rick Silanskas on his company’s website. “He brought pure, wholesome family entertainment to the entire family. I am humbled by Walt. He is truly a great inspiration. From the age of seven or eight, I would watch everything he did, and how he did it, and what he was doing next.” So … until Monday, looks like. “I guess we’ll all find out at the same time,” says Fort Worth’s spokesman. Gives us all plenty of time to revisit all those stories about Disney’s Frisco venture."

Time to jump forward to mid-September, head to the east coast, and spend an awesome afternoon at Busch Gardens Williamsburg. While there might have been some credit whoring involved on the drive back as well as an arrival at closing at Kings Dominion for some I-305 action with friends involved, the main attraction for the day was BGW. As always the park was in pristine condition, the gelato was delicious(seriously, if you've not had their gelato, you are missing out), and the beer was cold. So let's get on with this quik start of fall trip to Busch Gardens Williamsburg! Now that's what I'm talking about, because it was no fun driving in DC traffic! The british have invaded! Mr. Sundial says, time to head to Verbolten. But on the way we ran into a ship full of pirates Luckily we were faster than their canons Oh no, a pirate escaped! (If you hadn't guessed, they were setting up for Halloween) Das ist sehr gut! Verbolten is one of those rides that just puts a smile on your face. While we didn't experience all of the scenes I didn't much care because it was so much fun. Hey, that sign out front was right! Another pirate ship?! Train! Double Train! Apparently the British weren't the only ones that invaded, rednecks did too! Shawn tells me Mach tower is never open. Fortunate for us, it was open today. Well, unfortunately I suppose. Wow, those seats. Super uncomfortable. Which might explain why there was no wait. It still hurts to think about it. Fortunately they have beer to help you forget about the pain. Say hi to Shawn everyone! I'm not sure why I took this picture, but I did, therefore you can see it too. At this point I'd never been on Dar Kastle, sadly the line was very long. The good news? I went back in October to ride it. Pretty awesome dark ride. But now its time to take in what the Busch(Sea World) parks are known for. An amazing collection of B&M's. Look out log flume! Duck Down! Whew! That was close. Special thanks to the ride op who somehow recognized that we were TPR people and ushered us to the front of the line, you are awesome! Time for little dive A flyby too perhaps But diving would be the activity most are up for Because flybys only allow you to check out the scenery And while the scenery is very nice It doesn't compare to that oh sh1t dive bomb feeling So stop flying by And take a dive or two dives because... Its SPLASHTASTIC! Time for more beer! (or in my case a Jamison Weed) Say hi to Chuck everyone! The Train! The Train! FML. No I've not ridden Grover at BGW. I skipped in back in 2010-2011. But today I would be forced up the queue line And onto the ride. Nothing to see here except for an airtime machine. Bis spatter Verbolten, you were amazing. But it was getting late in the evening and there was a long drive ahead. See you later British people. But wait, on the drive back towards DC there would be two quik stops, one of which pictures were somehow taken. Some sign on the highway said Karts and Koasters. Well not really, but Karts or Carts or the likes was on the sign. So I rode. Shawn, however, had already ridden and refused to ride again. Oh well. Did I mention we rode I-305 in the rain and lightning on this night? Sure did! What, you want a photo? Fine. We ran into the park and found special guests Jeremiah and Nicole and then ran back to I-305. Why? It was lightning like crazy and they were still running. Stupid much, meh, I don't think so. And neither did we. But these things would try to stand in out way as the ride closed for a brief long time until they were finished. By then the rain had started to fall, lightning was still seen in the clouds, but we were all strapped in in the front for a wild rainy ride with firework smoke still billowing and lightning surrounding us and the sting of tiny rain pellets. Totally worth every moment, so we did it again. Thanks to all who hung out, it was a blast, let's do it again this year!
