  1. FYI Received word from the park that Justice League: Battle for Metropolis will open to the public on Saturday, May 23rd. Come one, come all! (Or wait until after Memorial Day Weekend and go when crowds are lighter )
  2. And wouldn't you know it, sent all my guys on tasks earlier this morning and they come out with a new event featuring Sideshow Bob. You get Cecil Terwilliger and Monsarno Research for free. Looks like Homer and Lisa will be the two main people that will need to be kept free. Guess I'll have to start on this one tomorrow!
  3. Well I guess I'm done buying mystery boxes, the last three have been crap and duplicated and triplicated some. Three minnow ponds, two news vans, two pos cars, and two bomb shelters are enough.

  5. Glad you had a good time, the revamped operations you experienced have become more of the norm this season which is very welcome. I believe the building you speak of is to replace a small mechanical room that caught fire this winter. I believe it housed the electrical panels for some of the rides in BBB. There is actually a generator hidden in the area thats keeping a few of the rides operational at the moment.
  6. ^That's my understanding from talking to local supporters and those that were trying to revive the park a few years back. Apparently that happened after some things were stolen out of it, but the good news is a few months ago they were recovered along with a few other items that were stolen and returned to the family just last week, this according to the local news. I'm sure if they were contacted a deal could be made, but one article I saw said they estimated the value of the returned tricks at 20k. I haven't been up there since late 2012 and at the time it still looked solid, however the last year has been super bad for the park and I'm not sure what condition the inside is in now. They say over the last year a lot of damage has been done by vandals.
  7. ^ http://aisdeducationcelebration.com/ If you are going to the special event, the park will likely be your oyster. If you are not and you are going Saturday let us know and someone will be able to provide a game plan. They still have a good amount of time before the ride opens and its rain season. It wouldn't take but a week with the correct equipment to give it a quick spray, hell maybe even just a few days if one had enough man power so there is still hope!
  8. If I could trade my home park for Silverwood, I would do it in a heartbeat. The times I've been the park has been clean, vibrant, and most of all fun. Sure it might not have the biggest rides around, but the ones they do have fit with the parks atmosphere. It also helps that they have good wood.
  9. And the fat lady has sung. www.kansas.com/news/local/article18292907.html
  10. After some further research it would appear that only Magic Mountain has the policy listed, I mistakenly thought said policy was previously printed on all of the park maps. I really hope that if this rolls down hill that they don't enforce it. Most people I see in parks have cameras with 'interchangeable' lenses. I doubt the consumers would like it much. https://www.sixflags.com/magicmountain/plan-your-visit/park-policies https://www.sixflags.com/overtexas/plan-your-visit/park-policies https://www.sixflags.com/greatadventure/plan-your-visit/park-policies https://www.sixflags.com/fiestatexas/plan-your-visit/park-policies https://www.sixflags.com/discoverykingdom/plan-your-visit/park-policies https://www.sixflags.com/america/plan-your-visit/park-policies https://www.sixflags.com/overgeorgia/plan-your-visit/park-policies https://www.sixflags.com/newengland/plan-your-visit/park-policies https://www.sixflags.com/greatescape/plan-your-visit/park-policies https://www.sixflags.com/stlouis/plan-your-visit/park-policies
  11. Lakeside Amusement Park in Denver doesn't allow photos to be taken with cameras with interchangeable or professional looking lenses. They also don't like it much if you take pictures of the midways even with a cell phone. If caught security will escort you to the management office where you get to plead your case on whether or not you have to delete the photos you took and/or get booted. They will however sometimes allow you to take photos with advance notice, but those cases seem to be rare nowadays. This is the email I received from them a few years ago
  12. Not really sure what's really new about the photography rules. It's been listed on the ride signs for some time now that filming of any kind while riding is grounds for getting the boot and if you're a season pass holder, you could be giving that up. Of course along with getting the boot from the park in which you were caught, you will also be banned from entry of all Six Flags parks for up to 1 year. However with the exception of one incident about all I've seen is that people who were caught were required to delete any photo or videos. Tripods and whatnot have technically not been allowed for sometime and to be honest outside of a media event, is there really anything to photograph that would warrant a tripod/monopod/selfie stick? To me this is a "get caught doing something stupid and out you go" policy. Incidentally this is also almost word for word the same policy that the NFL has for entry to stadiums, except you have to have clear purses/bags.
  13. Just started the therapy build. $1.2 million? Really? I'll never get the spin and rotate at this rate! Anyway, bought another mystery box and yielded 30 donuts for a 24 donut profit. So....used that to buy yet another and got the blue haired lawyer guy worth 90 donuts. Woot!
  14. Level 51 just downloaded; all my peeps are out on tasks until morning. So far two premium items and one island looking thing are available for purchase.
  15. Well, the lift on Goliath was a steel structure, so I don't see why not!
  16. ^Those are park specific. I use hotwire almost exclusively when I travel. You can normally nail down the exact hotel utilizing betterbidding.com Priceline now has a similar option as to hotwire if you don't like bidding which allows you to pick a hotel via star rating and user rating. The iPhone and Android app 'hotel tonight' and the website lastminutetravel.com are also excellent alternatives. Sure you take a small gamble on what you get, but out of the 200+ room nights on hotwire and 100+ room nights on Priceline, I've only had 3 hotels that I didn't care for. One was in Atlantic City so I'm not sure I'd count that against them Additionally the price difference between a SFSTL season pass and SFGA pass are significant. Might check into a single day discount ticket at SFGA and getting a SP and SFSTL, you might save a few bones.
  17. So I've started using all of my free donuts to buy mystery boxes. Box 1 10 donuts, Box 2 a food cart, Box 3 was a premium character, Kearney. So far I've spent 30 donuts and reciieved about 240 in donut value. I'm liking the new format.
  18. The Rockville makeover has not yet started, but will be completed by the time the ride opens. The ride will also have a level of theming that no other ride in the park has, plus a state of the art interactive queue line. My take is that you should reserve your whining until after this multi-million dollar first of its kind ride is completed. There is nothing 'thrifty' about this attraction at all.
  19. ^The lights have been there, probably just hasn't been dark enough to notice
  20. Well I guess that confirms the rumors I was hearing! Love seeing when 'the little guys' are able to make investments and provide fun an entertainment for the whole family.
  21. Howdy-do folks! Today I'm bringing you a TPR Exclusive! Wait, what? Yes, that's right, yesterday TPR was the first media outlet invited out to tour the Batman construction site and get up close and personal with the worlds first 4D Free Spinning coaster! First off I want to say that the park looks great, its clean, vibrant, and the staff friendly. At park opening Neal was out and about greeting visitors as they entered. And much like you might see at Disney, when lines to get in got long, they instantly opened additional entry points to get people in and enjoying iRat, Superman, and their smash hit new show #iPop. iRat had a queue spilling into the overflow but that didn't scare me, the crew was humping and the line seemed to never stop moving. Within 30 minutes I was enjoying a thrilling ride in the back seat. Kudos to all. Now if that doesn't make you want to visit the park, well, Batman will. Construction is moving right along, on track (get it, haha), and ready to thrill season pass holders mid May and the public over Memorial Day. So, here are a few bullet point items out of our visit * Batman's Ride Control System is in place, wired, and ready for action * Ride vehicle assembly has begun, 1 down, 4 to go! * Lift tray installation was being completed while I was on site, the roller chain will be installed very soon * Last to be installed on the track are the fins the cars will pass through that will induce spinning (but not spewing, more on that in the photos) * Testing will begin shortly after the two items above are completed * I would recommend the BBQ Pork Deluxe at Old Blues BBQ (thanks Jeff!) And finally....drum roll please....Fright Fest will be even bigger this year with extended hours! Okie Dokie Smokies, lets hit up Batman! (And maybe some Superman, iRat, Road Runner Express, Scream....) Someone needs to call the landscaper, somehow a giant yellow weed has sprouted in the middle of the park. Wait. That's no weed, that's Batman! Hey look out!! There's a giant new roller coaster there! Don't fly into it! Batman is quite literally the center of attention. It's one of those rides you will be able to see from most anywhere while walking the perimeter of the park and will entice you to come and find the entrance. Workers were busy finishing the installation of the chain tray Adjustments were also being made to the magnetic trims that are located on each of the raven drops. These will not stop the ride, but will bring the speeds to a safe point if need be. Basically once you come off the lift, you won't stop until your ride is complete. Trade secrets folks. The area that I am standing in here is right below the gas pumps and will become an overflow queue. I would imagine it will be getting some good use this summer. Hey baby, you've got a nice chassis. Can I touch it? Fun fact, the roller chain was made in Germany. Like Dare Devil Dive at SFOG, the chain will engage the car and carry it to the top, not the other way around. Load Station! Two cars will be loaded at a time. One will then take off, and the second staged. Then the two cars that have finished their runs will move forward from this area. Rinse and repeat. You know you like it. And here is the final drop that takes you into the station. Don't worry control nerds, I have thought of you too! These mechanisms are kind of important. They make sure the vehicle remains upright and locked into place after the ride. Nerd fact, just before the car drops down to the station the vehicle will have a chance to right it self making the experience much more pleasurable. Each vehicle has 4 spoons Each spoon has two seats. This is a spoon Each spoon spins independently. But how does it do that, and how do you know you will spin at least 6 times? Well, I'll show you. But first I'll show you some behind the scenes action with Marketing Direction Jeffery Siebert taking photos to update the parks facebook and twitter feeds. So each spoon has one of these. Its a circular magnet. Soon metal fins will be installed on the track. The vehicle will pass through the fins causing the vehicle to flip. These plates are fully adjustable so that the spinning is controlled at the point you pass through the fin so as not to jerk you around and cause whiplash. There is also another device at the bottom of the two magnets that acts as a safety ensure that you don't spin violently. Nerd shot. While these aren't the fins that will control the vehicles spinning, they do ensure that the ride isn't traveling too fast. If needed an additional pneumatic fin is installed at each of the raven drops. (Think King da Ka) More of that. And more of that. Yawn. And here we are now in the ride control building located under the lift. Well not directly, but close enough. For the panel enthusiats. Notice how simple it is. See what they did there? Serial Number '360' Because everyone needs a splice in their life Ohhh lala, what is this and where does it go? Does it go here? No. Does it go here? Yes! (Hey you didn't think I was going to give away the spoils of the interactive queue just yet did you?) The best part, the queue will be air conditioned! After the tour and an awesome lunch (mmm, pulled pork), it was time to head out in the park and see what was going on. Hi Road Runner, I'm coming. But not before some iRat action. Such a fun ride. And the wall drop, OMG amazing. Superman is once again a proud man! Looks great! And rides as good as it looks! (Give it up for three train operations!) Those guys were getting their exercise keeping things moving and grooving. Speaking of moving and grooving, it was time to move and groove on Road Runner Express! One of the best mine trains anywhere! But now it's time to move and groove on outta here. Special thank to Jeff and Cole for having us out and allowing us to the be the first to christen the media hard hat to get up close and personal with Batman. Season Pass Previews start May 16th! All nice and comfy!
  22. Congrats on that, make sure that works it's way on to your resume'! SFFT has certainly turned into one of he more underrated parks, no? Between Superman and Iron Rattler and Batman, the coasters are great....and the park itself has always been fantastic. Looking great! It's at the top of the list
  23. Now this is completely speculation as I know nothing about SFOT's marketing team or strategy, but with the chance of delay even higher with prototype rides (Sally & the companies involved are the ones who used the word prototype, even though it may not seem that way looking at TF & SM @ Universal), it is sometimes best to wait until the ride opens or is close to opening too keep from just disappointing people. SFSL marketing is just starting to really kick off now it seems, based on the TV/radio commercials. SF is going to market the ride like crazy, especially with the great merchandising opportunities it brings. Also, just to comment on the Warner Bros. (who do the DC and Loony Tunes with SF) licensing question, Six Flags is the main thing keeping the Loony Tunes brand alive. Pair that with the countless number of super hero movies coming up and more Marvel characters entering theme parks around the globe, Six Flags is extremely important to Warner Brothers. A non-renewal of any licensing with WB would be a lose-lose situation....unlike the termination of the Tony Hawk & Evel Kinevel contracts that were dropped, for the better, a few years ago. I think you would be correct if an opening date was set, but that hasn't been done. Simply saying 'coming this summer' is good enough. Just saying I haven't seen much promotion on the ride outside the park. Building the anticipation for months in advance and getting kids to talk about it with their friends at school because of said anticipation equals a Yahtzee when the date is announced.
