  1. I'm just not starting to finish up the quest lines from the level 52 update. I sent everyone on a 24hour task except burns, the lunch lady, bart, and someone else, haven't logged back in since. Pretty much down to once, maybe if I'm super bored, twice a day. I still maintain these 45 day things are too much. A 2 week quest I can deal with, but a month and half is almost like they are trying to come up with way to keep everyone busy while they work on other stuff.
  2. However there is always a 'but' Seems like the original plan lacked some planning. Still not going to hold my breath, but even if half of this gets built(would appear the waterpark is a done deal) it will still be great for Houston.
  3. Speaking with done with this event, isn't it time for it to go bye bye? The only item I didn't get was decoy homer, which meh. I ended up cashing out on the flower box and welcome bob sign, although really once I got the boat I was done.
  4. That video was shot at like 10:30am Sunday, I was riding Shockwave at 7pm Sunday if that says anything. Mine Train takes longer since they have to pump the water and sludge out of the tunnels, same with Titan.
  5. As long as it's not a monsoon and no lightning in the area they will still run NTAG, batman, judge roy(single train) shockwave(single train) and if not flooded Titan and mine train. Superman and Skyscreamer will run in light rain. Rode shockwave, batman, freeze, and NTAG in the rain yesterday evening.
  6. Wow, a 1:25 wait with a full queue on a brand new ride is not bad at all, glad you liked it!
  7. Almost a year to the date of the start of the kiddie coaster build and it much looks the same. The tilt and a kiddie ride have suffered damage presumably from storms. This was from last Saturday at 1pm. Despite being advertised as open, no one was there. In fact a good portion of the fencing that had been erected is gone (it wasn't much of a fence, 4x4s nailed to a plywood base with 2x4s running lengthwise. I know it's hard to give up a dream and all but the market isn't there. I still believe a quality FEC is the way to go. Kiddie rides, games, pizza buffet or grill.
  8. Wow! I might actually get the boat, I didn't think it was possible but with only 500 masks to go its looking like a miracle will happen!
  9. LOL! I'll make sure the wind is blowing nicely for you!
  10. After more people have ridden I'll share some of my favorite targets that pile on the points if they've not been mentioned by others, no fun in cheating straight out of the box!! For now, my new high score Remember if you have a 6 on the end of your score you've found the ultimate Easter Egg!
  11. My latest high score, come out and try to beat me! Single rider line is open! Continuous load is working flawlessly!
  12. ^That's when mine appeared. I'm struggling to get enough DNA and Masks to buy anything other than the cactus patch. If I'm lucky I might be able to buy the Homer Decoy, otherwise I'll load up on small stuff to zero out the bank before the event ends. One can never have enough cane patches. On a bright note, since I never had the chance to get Lard Lad (only the first church of Lard Lad) I had a nice surprise in this weeks mystery box, Lard Lard! Woot! I was actually surprised they'd give away a 110 donut prize, but I suppose it's old enough now that either everyone has it that wants it, or those that don't have it don't care.
  13. I have a funny feeling that we will be seeing several more of these(and that is NOT a bad thing) due to their small footprint, cost effectiveness, but most of all, because they are a hell of a good time. S&S does have a taller/larger model available for sale, however for SFFT my opinion is this model was the perfect fit. (It helps that it fit nicely into the available space)
  14. Thanks guys. The preshow is CG with the exception of the cyborg animatronic and very well done. I'm told cyborg took one man 6 months to hand craft, and then he started on the second one. He is so detailed in every way that the welds on his skeleton frame were ground down and polished. Rich told me that if you took the skins off that the actual moving parts and the way it's done is more of a work of art than the outside skins.
  15. Hello Superheros (and Villians)! Yesterday Six Flags Over Texas unveiled their newest attraction to the media, Justice League: Battle for Metropolis, a state of art 4D interactive dark ride experience! Impressive in every sense of the word, the combined efforts of Sally, Alterface, Oceaneering, and Pure Imagination will have your brain on overload. You Journey will begin as you enter Centennial Park and make your way to the Hall of Justice. Once inside you will not only find cooler temperatures, you will find an even cooler queue line. From the time you enter the building until the time you hop on to the ride, if the queue is full, you can expect a 10-15 minute wait. But don't worry about being bored, they've got you covered. The queue line features multiple TV monitors, Cyborg, and large video screens that display a storyline that lasts about 15 minutes, and I would highly recommend you try to watch whilst taking in all the awesomeness that you will find inside. Moments before taking your spot on the loading platform Cyborg comes alive and issues instructions to those brave enough to battle. You'll enter the ride vehicles as they are moving so the lines should flow steadily. Once locked in, put on your 3D glasses then grab your gun and note what color you have before the doors to Metropolis are opened and you rush off to fight off the Joker and Lex Luther. Passing through the doors you'll get a whiff of laughing gas and twist around where the Joker has arrived. Aim and fire away at the screen as you try to thwart evil away. As you blast the various targets your guns color will be shown on screen indicating where you are shooting. Don't just shoot at the Joker though, take care of his orange jumpsuited friends and watch them fly off screen. After the first scene you ride off to see the now famous animated Joker who blasts laughing gas at you and sends you off to try and save the Batmobile from untimely destruction. You may not even realize that as you are battling on screen that the ride vehicles are moving ever so slightly forward. Why? Because of all of the technology built in. The projection moves with the ride vehicles! How awesome is that?! Speaking of technology, JL:B4M was built with a ton of custom designed never before used technology that includes the amazing ride vehicles by Oceaneering and the interactive elements brought to you by AlterFace. Some of which you might not even realize are possible. After you help save the Batmobile and pay a visit to Lex Luther you motor through a fog wall that you can shoot at!! This is something that has NEVER been done before and would not have been possible if it weren't for the vision of Sally's Senior Designer, Rich Hill and the help of Alterface. It's at this point in the ride that the battles intensifies and if you've not already on sensory overload, you are now, as everything that Pure Imagination has put on screen comes together in two epic battles scenes that sends the Joker and his cronies packing. At the end of the ride you'll compare your scores to others in your group on a video wall which will also feature your mug shot. And once the St. Louis version comes online, Six Flags Over Texas Communications Manager Sharon Parker tells me the plan is to display the high scores between the two parks in real time to further increase the interactivity of the ride. And check your score closely as ride designers have included some hidden targets that unlock some awesome stuff. If you have a '6' at the end of your score you will know that you've found one of them. But which one? Not sure? Well you'll just have to ride again, and again, and hey why not ride it one more time and try to figure out which one of the over 600 targets is the easter egg. I was fortunate to be able to spend time talking with those from Sally and AlterFace who were grinning from ear to ear hearing the reactions of those previewing the ride, as they should be. Donna Gentry is the project manager for both Justice League attractions and played a key role in bringing all of contractors and innovators together for this amazing attraction. To keep the attraction amazing, Alterface has also integrated their proprietary monitoring software that will report any irregularities in the system so that they can either be taken care of remotely or with the assistance of ride maintenance. In fact the system is so smart that it can detect a potentially malfunctioning gun so that park personnel can immediately troubleshoot and repair. After-all, no one likes being on an interactive ride whose interaction is broken! Lauren Weaver, Marketing Director for Sally, tells me the future possibilities with this attraction are endless with the ability to switch things up or add a seasonal overlay with a simple programming change. Something Sharon Parker says the park is already considering. Six Flags Over Texas has invested serious capital over the last 5 years by introducing us to RMC and the Texas Giant, the 400ft tall Texas Sky Screamer, and additional kids rides in a renovated area renamed Bugs Boomtown. Justice League: Battle For Metropolis is yet another world class attraction and one of the best the park has installed in as many years. In fact I would go as far as to put it neck and neck with Texas Giant, it's just that good. Park patrons have asked, and the park has delivered, exceeding all expectations. So what are you waiting for, get out and Battle for Metropolis starting this Thursday for Gold Season Pass Holders, Friday for all Season Pass Holders, and Saturday for all! The Bat Signal has summoned us to Battle for Metropolis on Media Day! The stage has been set The key players are all present The band is playing All for a Superheros welcome As Park President Steve Martindale introduces the gathering of VIP's and Media to the opening of Justice League: Battle for Metropolis! And poof, just like that the laser slices the ribbon And JL:B4M is open!! YAY!! Oh hey, popcorn. Yummy popcorn. You know that building that mysteriously went up? Well it was serving superhero drinks today But will be a great new food outlet serving some yummy nachos and cold drinks. Right next door is the entrance to Centennial Park which is also the beginning of the queue line. Important stuff to read. The overflow queue. And the general ride queue from both angles! Here are just some of the faces of Sally and Alterface that helped bring this ride together for all of our enjoyment! Awesome job guys! Are you ready? Strike your superhero pose and enter the Hall of Justice From the time you enter to the time you ride if the queue is this full, it will be about 10-15 minutes. And this is where the 15 minute queue experience comes in handy to keep you entertained. Yay! And these giant screens further expand on your assignment to help battle the villians Boooooo! Our chariot await awaits us. The cars are continuously loading and unloading, no stoppage here! So mount up and wave good bye to your friends. Because it's time to battle! Oh hey there The Joker just blasted us with Laughing gas! Think you can beat my score? If you do, post back here! You'll exit through the gift shop where you will find all sorts of cool items. Like these Superman boxer-briefs complete with rear cape. Now these could be quite useful, say, for detecting if someone has their own laughing gas. In case cape is flapping in the wind, please move away! (It's also removable) Hi Wonder Woman! Many Thanks to Lauren Weaver at Sally for this awesome Ride Vehicle USB Stick!! The high striker has been moved from next to the building to in front of it. And a new coke stand has been built inside the main gate to the right! So the only question is, will you Battle for Metropolis this weekend? You should. This is hands down one of if not the best interactive dark rides I have been on. But don't take my word for it (although you should) head to Six Flags Over Texas and ride for yourself. I guarantee you'll be hooked! Cyborg explains what's about to happen After recognizing the hard work of many, Mr. Martindale grabs his laser gun and aims for the ribbon
  16. Hey guys, I'll have the official media day report ready in the morning, but for now all I have to say is wow. JLB4M is quite mindblowingly impressive. In fact I was so blown away that I would for certain put this attraction right up there with Universal. A lot of action was packed into the 17k square foot building along with a ton of money. I was able to spend a few hours with the creative teams from Sally and AlterFace who provided me with a TON of information and tidbits that I'll share with everyone. But for now, the Joker says hi.
  17. Bad Apple = Stay away from Westgate resorts and their sister properties, horrible. I've stayed at The Village at Indian Point several times and have been happy, it's near the park but no shuttle. Right on the lake and features two bedrooms, living room, and kitchen. The wifi kicks ass too, but not as much as waking up, walking onto the deck, and seeing the lake.
  18. Get your Periscope apps ready folks, I'll be broadcasting live from the park tomorrow morning! @24chadster
  19. ^While I think most of as appreciate that you were trying to gather photo details of timberwolf, on-ride picture taking at WOF is not permitted, as a result the photos shouldn't be posted to the forum.
  20. It is a quick ride at ~1:33 from ride start to brake, but for a compact coaster, like you said it packs a punch. I can certainly see this ride design incorporated into a terrain coaster somewhere down the line for a park with deep enough pockets. The advantages of this design most of us probably already realize, it's compact, easy to install, and cost effective.
  21. "UNK" = Unknown. The equipment probably picked up a locator signal of some type of utility or service but unable to determine what it is. The ride theme looks great.
  22. Personally I think it's going to be a big hit, but because it's not a coaster some will ignore it which is a real shame.
  23. Looks are deceiving, no head banging, no whiplish, no banging around in the seat like you do on X2. Its a really comfortable ride experience, better than any Vekoma!
  24. Yesterday TPR attended the Media Preview for Batman: The Ride, the world's First 4-D Free Spin Coaster, and despite mother nature, a great time was had by all. The ride sports some awesome theming in both the indoor and outdoor queue line. Lockers are provided for your loose articles and are highly suggested as you WILL lose items in your pockets (I would also strongly recommend taking off your glasses/sunglasses) You'll arrive to a short split behind the control building where you are sent left or right. But don't worry, the plan is that no more than 2 full trains of people will be beyond the split at any given time. Speaking of loading, the process will be quick and easy. Two trains are loaded at a time and sent on their journey. Once in the air you'll have a great view of Superman or Goliath, but don't get too comfortable as once off the lift you're in for a fliptastic ride. Smooth as glass and with a fluid motion you'll flip over and over as you soar down the track. The restraints? Yeah, some of the most comfortable I've ever experienced. Speaking of experience, how does one describe the ride experience? Well I describe it as all those times you've been to the carnival with a group of friends and stuffed yourselves as a group into the zipper, a break dance, or a rock-o-plane, and combine that with the emotions of laughter, loud outbursts, and maybe some swearing, and what you end up with is one of the most insane giggly fun times you'll have on a roller coaster. And the best part? Like all of those carnival rides, you'll never have the same ride experience twice. Riding just once won't do it, no way, no how. You'll find yourself laughing, hooting, and hollering down the exit as you make your way back to the entrance. Bottom line is Batman: The Ride fills that missing void the park had and adds to an already stellar collection of rides. It's completely re-rideable time and time again and uses one of the best train designs I've seen in some time. Engineered to ensure you won't get sick, you'll be nice and comfortable with the soft restraints and no head bang design. Move you arms around while you ride, kick you feet a little as well and you just mind find yourself inducing a few extra spins. Even though the day was soggy, fun was had by all. As a result of the downpours we weren't able to photograph much of the ride in action, but we are able to bring you some pretty cool nerd shots. So sit back, relax, and enjoy your spin. Welcome to the media preview event for Batman: The Ride at Fiesta Texas! I don't always travel in style, but when I do, I go big. So let's walk through the entry queue of B:TR. They've got this cool hologram of the B:TR Ride Vehicles And hey look, it's Batman himself! Once you make your way past the entry building you come out on to the plaza where you find their custom made Batmobile But first things first, a quick ride The lift will provide you with some excellent views But in a matter of no time you are flipping head over heals Seriously it's a really awesome ride, totally smooth and re-rideable. But after just two rides the rains came as did the lightning so we had a chance to look up under B:TR's skirt Because we could So much engineering work went into this ride vehicles Making them super smooth And super comfortable. The plan is to run all five trains. Up on top of the station track. Hold area for train 2 waiting on the lift. Sexy chain I can't emphasise enough how comfy the trains and restrain system is. And because I'm a nerd... The bar thingy comes down to lock the seats in place while loading and unloading. Don't you wish you were in that seat? Ohhh ahhhh And after waiting on the rains for more than 5 hours it was time to call it a day. I'm pretty confident this should be placed on your bucket list, best ridden with friends, but just as awesome ridden without them. Hope you enjoyed this non-traditional media day report as we made lemonade out of weather lemons!
