  1. Considering the angle I was going for was to hype up the new Haunt attraction it did not seem necessary to post the full schedule and requirements. Most intellectual internet savvy humans who would be interested in the event would likely have the skills to quickly and easily ascertain the needed information via the parks website or google. But, as you elegantly pointed out that you felt it was required to give any and all details of the event, and since you yourself failed to provide all pertinent information for this annual event, I will provide it. 2. Amazing how they think copying designs is a form of flattery. Whatever helps them sleep well at night I guess. The one man band disco knock off looks cool, like something hard rock park would have put in had they been open more than a week.
  3. Simply pointing out that if one is in possession of information that might not be intended to be made public that one might not should post it for risking getting the party whom was partially identified in trouble. People have lost their jobs in the past over leaking information as a violation of the confidentiality agreement. My apologies if you considered that bsm. As far as actual discussion is concerned, who is going to coaster mayhem this year? 1:15pm-2:15pm: Behind the Scenes Tour - Explore the NEW Haunt
  4. Pbbt, I did that months ago, just never posted it, didn't want to discourage anyone Just giving them a new goal is all!
  5. This thread is full of entertaining speculative reading, I love it! Side note: Just because one does not screen shot said text message and post to a well known theme park forum doesn't mean said source has not been burnt. They were burnt when said information was posted publicly, with or without identifying first and last name of said source, with or without permission to do so, and now that its is known it came from a particular profession, if said person's employer wanted to dig, the list to sift through would be minimal. When information is relayed as fact turns out to be false(in general, not in relation to the subject at hand) ones trust level falls greatly which is why it's always best to not say anything and sit back, relax, and enjoy the speculation.
  6. On my last several visits I experienced no downtime and what seems to be 6-7 car operation (Sorry, I'm not nerdy enough to count, but whatever number they are using is providing for constant loading). Other sources say the gremlins are becoming few as we expected would happen. Unlike Universal of Disney they didn't have months to perfect the operation before it opened, and even with those guys you can always expect a test and adjust period. For all of the new technology, new ride vehicles, and everything else that has gone into the ride, I'd say it's performing well. I hadn't been to the park in two weeks, tonight virtually every ride in the park was walk on or damn near close to it, NTAG included, yet Justice League had a 30= minute wait with a steady moving line. (Thanking SF's everytime I ride for single rider line, I'm so glad the one night it was closed was not permanent)
  7. ^Yeah, IRM is still trying to sell things, funny how he wouldn't sell the bill tracy dark ride years ago to wild bill, maybe he's ready to reconsider. Doubtful anyone will ever buy the log flume, it's in bad shape and the mechanicals were sold off years ago, air compressors, etc. The logs would have great value to amusement parks with models of the same era. Zingo, well, I'd have to give up on it and try to sell the train. Problem is, it's not a desirable train so it sits at Larson. He had painted the cars for the coaster, but I'm sure running gear parts broke the bank. The fund raising campaign gave him enough to move the stuff out of the downtown and bring the coaster to Tulsa, but 20k doesn't go far. But if you want your coaster fix, the spinner at Incredible Pizza opened last weekend. Fun ride.
  8. I don't think I've browsed a single thing on reddit in over two years, it's mostly people bitching so I moved on.
  9. ^nothing has really changed so I haven't bothered to post anything from my drive bys when I visit family.
  10. Provided there are no mechanical issues or rain, you can usually always expect 2+ operation
  11. Several new kiddie flats were installed last year. The boomerang was awarded to SFSTL when it became available due to the need to remove it for TSS construction.
  12. Thar she goes! www.kwch.com/news/local-news/joyland-coaster-demolished/34325538 Came down so easy that the next storm likely would have done it in.
  13. I rode it the day it opened and at the time it was considered a bad ass woodie, but times and technology have changed. For what it is and for what it was, it's still a good layout/design, just maybe needed a little more TLC over the years than what it got.
  14. I got to thinking. Scarey, I know. If I were a corporation paying tens of thousands of dollars, if not more, for an event at the park, why in the hell would I want to have my picnic lunch next to a noisy pollution filled highway? Here's a little diesel exhaust to go with that potato salad sir. Would you like a side of idling engine with that roll? And for dessert, how about some obnoxious teenage blaring his moms mini vans shitty factory stereo system. Common sense would dictate a better alternative would be to move the scrambler to an alternate location(yes where there is a will, there is a way) and build a picnic pavilion in it's space where it is much closer to the commissary and offices. A redo of Titan's queue entry might also be in order for additional capacity. That is, if this long term rumor becomes not a rumor.
  15. I love how I post something here about a possible Jokers Jinx re-theme and it lands on multiple other sites. It's just my gut feeling ya'll! I have no 'inside' information. LOL! Seriously, any 'inside' information will NEVER be shared as it's not for me to spill the beans.
  16. If I had a dollar for every time I heard something wouldn't fit, I'd be rich.
  17. ^Exactly. Other factors include how easy it is to lay the new track. Mean Streak is such a tangled POS that the labor costs would likely be the largest factor in not making it over. That and its really not a good layout to begin with. The same can be said for Ghostrider, it would not be easy to fly in steal on that ride. So in a way, if that rumor is true in regards to a CF bigwig making that statement, its plausible to be correct in regards to their specific projects. In the case of Twisted Twins, the biggest hurdle there is that they are working in the flight path of the airport, cranes can only be extended so high without a permit.
  18. Pandemonium to Jokers Jinx or similar. With Justice League and the refurbished Aquaman right there, it just makes sense.
  19. There was a ton of infrastructure work that was done that most people don't know about because that can't see it. That took a ton of time to complete. And while it doesn't get cold, we did get frozen out a bit this year, then the rainy season came, and stayed. For Batman to have been open February 28th, they would had to of started work peak summer, which isn't feasible given where it is and what all they had to do underground while the park is in weekly operations. Unfortunately some view Batman as a flat ride as it doesn't resemble a traditional coaster. The locals have embraced it and the lines are plentiful. Its one of the few coasters that, outside of a kiddie coaster where you have to make your own fun or flat out just get made fun of, that I thought was super crazy fun. It put a smile on my face and I was hooked . Its certainly a much better ride than that thing in California. (sorry Intamin lovers, even if the ride "were operated like the ones overseas" I would still not care for it's nut crushing seats) Whereas Iron Rattler gives you that OMG WTF feeling where you have the :O look on your face afterwards. Justice League really hasn't received a ton of attention either, while it's a flat ride and draws 30+ minute queues on a regular basis, its still the most technologically advanced flat ride SF's has ever put in and the enthusiasts don't talk too much about it except to bitch when it goes down for a reset. Thankfully many of those issues have been worked out like we knew they would be.
  20. http://www.larsonintl.com/index.html Outside of the Flying Scooters and drop tower, I challenge you to find me one "quality" ride. They're a fairground company, plain and simple. The Tilt-A-Whirls are good. However I think you might be taking the 'quality' part out of context. Do they build high intense high thrill rides for Disney or Universal, no. Quality can mean a variety of things, in this sense they deliver a solid ride to the Family Entertainment Center and the Traveling sectors of the amusement industry at a reasonable price that doesn't produce a ton of issues. You have to build a quality ride that can withstand multiple tear downs and rebuilds throughout a season. In fact there is a 1980 Larson Superloop listed for sale on Rides4U right now, a 36 years old ride, certainly not built cheaply or it'd be melted down by now. So when unexpected issues pop up, they take them seriously, like any quality ride manufacturer would do. They're certainly not flashy, but their rides provide entertainment to millions of people each year. Without Larson or Chance, the smaller mom and pop FEC's, boardwalks, etc couldn't afford to place new attractions and see a return on their investment.
  21. I don't care what they call or market it as as long as they are re-investing into the park and adding new attractions on a regular basis. Thankfully they've been doing just that. Plus it entertains enthusiasts by giving them something to moan, groan, and laugh about. I choose to laugh.
  22. Well I think I'm jumping on the casual player band wagon. This last update was yawn and tap ball got old after act 2 with no kick ass prizes.
  23. ^^While you might not mind (and neither do I) the insurance company and corporate lawyers do. Anything to minimize litigation, it's just too bad they don't have signage indicating no single rides in the last fully loaded row as many times for noobs it causes some nice delays and unpleasant conversations for the ops. Personally to me a 55 year anniversary is yawn, get to 60 and give me a giga. Any major installations would need to see some clearing in the next 4-6 weeks. I'm expecting a re-themed ride, new show, and maybe a flat ride, maybe. The park has installed something new 4 out of the last 5 years(yes I count NTAG as new) and spent a good bit of money on reverse Freeze. I'd like to see something big and new, I 'm just not going to hold my breath.
  24. This. Larson builds quality, reliable rides and like any reputable ride manufacture takes all necessary precautions to make sure the rides are safe. No need to chance someone getting hurt and if I recall it's the first time the company has ordered a precautionary closure. I do agree with others, a Loop would be a perfect addition to the boardwalk. I also wouldn't mind seeing one of the new model HUSS enterprise wheels.
